CHAPTER FOUR

CONVERSATIONS WITH ALINDA

When Levi awoke, he felt very alone. He wondered if he was developing a god complex. He called Venus for help. She came over and he told her about Alinda. A concerned Venus took him to her psychiatrist, barged into the doctor's office, and asked the doctor to see Levi. The doctor was not too concerned and told Venus that this was normal, that hypnagogia was a common sleep phenomenon, and to go home. The doctor added, "Levi; as long as you know you're not God, I'm not worried. Go home. Venus drove Levi home and decided to stay with him to make sure he would be safe. She felt it necessary to stay the night and watch him as he slept, to see if he talked in his sleep or did anything that might indicate he was having a hypnagogic experience. She had never heard of such a thing in her life and her curiosity had piqued her interest in this phenomenon. She asked Levi, "Do you mind if I stay the night with you, to make sure you are okay?"

Levi replied, "Sure, but where will you sleep? I only have my single twin air mattress to sleep on for the night."

"I will sleep on the couch behind you."

"I would enjoy having your company." One of the things Alinda had told him was that he would bear a child with Venus, and he believed that this might be a perfect time to impregnate her. "Judy, have you given up on becoming pregnant?"

"I thought Jim was the problem when I found out he was infertile, but when we divorced, I found out I also was unable to have children. If I had known about it, I would not have played around so much and caused the break-up. In the eight years since, I have grown used to living alone, and just having sex when I want. I can't have a child so why waste my time wanting something you can't have?"

"Fertility treatments have come a long way, since then. Have you ever thought about going to a fertility doctor?"

"I have been to see doctors and my uterus is unable to carry a child. I considered adopting, but it is not the same, and when Jim left me, I moved on with my life in new directions."

"I was unaware of your infertility," he lied. "I wondered why you never remarried."

"When I first found you here in Missouri you were single; so I figured it was time to hook up and I reeled you in to shore for some fun. But I was married to Jim and when I freed myself of him, you were married.

"If you were not married I would have been happy to have been your husband."

"Yeah, that would have been wonderful, but we cannot change the past; we can only live the now we have." They got out of the car and walked to the front porch of his studio apartment, when Judy said, "I am not prepared to stay the night. "I have no change of clothes, or pajamas. I hope you do not mind if I borrow your toiletries and sleep in the nude?"

"I have no problem with that, after all I have explored your body inside and out."

"True, but the last time we were together was a long time ago, and now I'm forty-five years old, almost forty-six. I am not as pretty as I used to be."

"Judy, you are still as beautiful as the day I met you, and just as desirable."

She turned and kissed him. "You are still a silver-tongued devil."

"I am not sure about the devil, but I do know how to use my tongue."

She giggled as Levi opened the door. "We might have some fun tonight. In fact, I insist on it." Somehow her giggle reminded me of Alinda.

Levi stated, "I have to warn you that I am not as large as I used to be, now that I am older things are shrinking."

"Everything changes, but I doubt if you need any help tonight. I am sure I will be able to handle your, err..., problem. I am quite good at that, you know. Besides, you still have your hands, fist and tongue and I really love your hands," she laughed aloud. You remember the first time we made love in my parents' house. I will never forget that as long as I live. That, by far, was the most erotic experience I ever had, par none. I do not expect you to duplicate it, because for it is the most holy of all my memories, but we can make new memories. Who knows, this might become a new habit for me. I bet you'd like that, wouldn't you? First, let me feed you. Do you have any food in this place?"
