Chapter 22: Fixie-your-mistakie-roomie

"Leon, my good friend." Luke stated, still smiling at me.

It was quite terrifying, given my situation.

"I'm not your friend," Leon snarled, "Especially in this situation."

"What're you gonna do? I mean, you're alone and I have your precious little ace here."

I peered over his shoulder to see Leon with the same smile as Luke; devious.

I am not liking what I'm seeing right now.

"You really think I would come unarmed? While you have a firearm and are threatening Dayana? I don't think so." Leon mused.

"Let me guess, you brought back+up? Oh la dee da, whatever shall I do?" Luke replied whilst waving his hands sarcastically.

That was enough time for Leon to pounce on him and grab a hold of his gun, but it didn't quite do the trick, since Luke's grip was incredibly tight so they just ended up struggling to make the other let go of the gun as I stared dumbfounded.

"Dayana, what the fuck are you doing? Run!" Leon yelled before a shot was fired, thankfully the gun was pointed downwards.

My eyes widened and I ran away,
Ran and ran until I hit someone and we both crashed to the ground.

It was Alex.

"Dayana? Where are you going?" He asked, helping me up.

"Y-you gotta help Leon! That guy has a gun, he might hurt Leon! You nee—"

"Calm down, we started searching this place when we heard a gunshot, but can you tell me where they are?"

"The—" A gunshot cut me off, making me flinch and stare at Alex wide-eyed.

He pressed his fingers to something in his right ear, probably an ear piece or something.

"D team, code 631. Bring back-up, third floor, west wing—"

"Near room 107." I informed him.

"Useful info. Dayana says it is near room 107, get light."

"'Get light'?" I questioned.

"CBG code," He replied as he started extended his hand that held a gun, "it means they should move fast."

I stared at it before looking back at him, "I'm not letting you go unarmed."

"I, uh, don't know how to handle a gun."

He tapped my forehead, "When a person has amnesia, the brain may forget memories, but the body remembers."

"Still—"

"Fine, here's a knife." He cut me off, handing me a blade instead.

I reluctantly took it.

"I'm gonna bring you, because if there's one guy, then I bet there would be another. I'd stay here with you, but D team kinda needs a leader." He told me.

I nodded, and he started walking before I stopped him.

"What?"

"Why D team? You know it sounds kinda weird."

He smirked before leaning in to whisper in my ear.

"Devastation team."

-

"D team, do you copy?" He whispered.

I peeked from where we were hiding and saw that Leon was pinned to the wall by Luke, a bruise on his cheek.

I searched around them and saw the gun a few feet away from them, long forgotten.

"The gun is on the floor." I whispered to him.

"It must be out of bullets." He whispered back.

"YOU ARE NOT IN AUTHORITY HERE, LEON!" Luke's voice yelled.

I peeked again, seeing Leon grunt in pain and Luke with tears running down his face.

What the hell is happening?

"What's happening?" Adi whispered.

"Leon's smirking. Now Luke's letting him go— wait no, he has a knife. Adi—"

"D team, now."

Within seconds, Luke suddenly froze and crashed down to the floor.

"Wh-what happe—"

"Good job, D team."

"Could you stop cutting me off? I know for a fact I'm older than you."

"That's cute, now let's go help Leon."

We jogged up to him as others went to Luke.

"T-take him to the..." Leon let out a shaky breath, "... fixie roomie..."

I was wiping off the blood from his lips but then stopped, "The what now?"

"Dayana, that's not really our priority here." Alex told me as he picked up Leon, throwing his hand over his shoulder as another member did the same.

"No, I want to know why the heck a gang would name a place 'fixie roomie.' That is absolutely ridicu—"

"It's our special clinic for critically injured members and you fucking named it!" Alex snapped.

I shut up after that. I named a special clinic fixie roomie? What kind of person was I to be stupid enough to name a stupid name like that?

It's almost as ridiculous as the name I came up with for the plush toy I found in Kylie's room!

"Dayana, are you okay?" One of the members asked.

I looked at her, and found myself staring at mesmerizing sea green eyes.

"Dayana?" She asked.

"Uh, y-yeah. Have you seen Kylie?"

"No, I haven't."

"Well, I'll be going now..." I said and started walking away.

There was just something about her that seemed.. off. An inner part of me is telling myself to tell Leon or Lawrence but it just made my headache worse.

"Ugh, I think I wanna go to the fixie roomie, too." I mumbled.

I patted my pocket to see if I have my phone, only to remember that it was broken.

"Great, just great." I groaned.

I looked around to see that I was back to the entrance to the roof. Sure enough, it was ajar.

"What're you looking at, Dayana?"

I screamed, and immediately punched the person in the face.

"Shit!" He exclaimed as he clutched his face.

"X-Xander—? Xander!"

"I'd be lying if I said that didn't hurt."

"I'm so sorry!"

"It's okay."

"Are you okay?!"

"Yeah, but it hurts."

"Does it hurt?!"

"Uhm yeah. I'm still good-looking."

"You're good-looking?!"

He smiled and ruffled my hair, "You're adorable, you know."

I stared at him and at his smile and at his eyes and at his lips and at his nose.

Basically, I stared at his whole face. He is indeed good-looking, I can't deny that.

"I know." I said with a wink.

"We should go see Leon. He's in the," He cleared his throat, "fixie roomie."

"It's ridiculous, isn't it?" I mumbled.

"Yeah, I honestly can't believe that I was the one who thought of that."

"Well, you wouldn't believe other things you've done before."

We settled into a silence after that. Not because I found it awkward talking about the things I've done before, but because I wanna maintain what we said in the rooftop.

In a few minutes, we arrived at the fixie roomie.

I cringed at the door. It was decorated as if a fifth grader did his art project an hour before due time.

There was red glitter all over it, some weird strings, googly eyes and glued clay shaped as body parts. There was also a hanged sign saying, "Fixie Roomie: Fixie your problemie."

"Please don't tell me I made this.".

"You did." One of the passing members told me.

I scowled at him, "I wasn't talking to you."

He held his hand up in defense as he continued walking.

Xander laughed and opened the door, surprisingly not getting any glitter on him.

"Where's Leon?" Xander asked, grabbing someone's arm.

"I dunno, man. I think I saw him at bed one."

"Thanks."

We started walking to bed one and saw Leon fast asleep with Lawrence next to him, even holding his hand.

"Oh, hey guys." He greeted when he realized we were there.

"What happened to him?" I asked.

"Got shot in the shoulder, nothing he can't handle." He replied.

"I wish I could have done something to help."

"If you got hurt because of him, he'll personally injure himself. So let's just thank Oliver that he called back-up right on time."

I nodded, then looked back at Leon. He looked so peaceful sleeping even with a bruise under his eye.

I don't want to see anyone get hurt because of me again.
