Chapter 18: Going up?

"Dayana." He repeated, as if not believing that I'm here.

"Xander?" I asked in surprise, "Wait, what are you doing here?"

He ignored me, and glanced at Kylie who had her legs propped up in her bed but her head was upside down on the floor.

"Kylie, would you mind filling Dayana up on what she needs to know?" He asked politely, although I can see a bit of frustration in his eyes.

"Already did." She replied nonchalantly.

"About me, you idiot."

"You? Why? Who would wanna know about you?"

"Yeah." I agreed.

"Um, who wouldn't?" He said as he gave a charming wink.

Okay. First of all, that's cute. Secondly, that's hot.

"Me." Kylie and I replied simultaneously.

"Ouch."

"Dayana, would you mind coming with me?" He asked.

"Actually I do."

"Actually she does."

"C'mon, I know you don't." He said.

I sighed, "Fine."

I hopped out of my bed and reluctantly looked back at Kylie, half-expecting her to drag me back.

When I saw that she was preoccupied with her phone, I let out a defeated sigh and just followed Xander to where he would take me.

"Why are you here?" I asked him.

"I'll explain when we get there."

"Where?"

He looked over to me and gave me a toothy grin, "You'll see."

He got inside an elevator.

"We're going up?" I asked.

"You'll see."

"Why do you keep saying that?" I questioned as I got in.

"You'll see."

"Now, you're just doing that to piss me off." I pouted.

He barked out a laugh, "You're adorable."

"Thanks." I went along.

He shook his head and pressed the highest floor.

"Ah, yes. The rooftop, what a perfect place to kill someone." He said.

"Excuse me?" I demanded.

"Kidding. I'd never hurt you, sweetie."

"Sweetie?" I arched an eyebrow.

His smile faltered, "Doesn't really fit you..."

"Yeah, it doesn't." I agreed.

We fell into an uncomfortable silence. I shifted between my feet and glanced at Xander who was leaning against the wall with his eyes closed.

The elevator stopped and opened up.

"Dayana?" A girl asked.

"Um," was all I could say as I narrowed my eyes at the pistol she had.

She went inside, giving me a curt smile and pressed the button for the fourth floor.

"It's me, Bea." She informed.

"Uh, I'm Dayana." I replied.

You idiot.

She chuckled, "Yeah, I know."

"Sorry, I'm just—"

"Bea, how's training?" Xander cut me off.

I scoffed. That was rude.

She glared at him, "Bryer. Training went well, but maybe it's because you weren't there."

He shrugged, "I had school."

"Is that what you're gonna tell Leon?"

"Yep." He said, popping the p.

"You're unbelievable."

"Believe it."

She sighed and the elevator stopped, reaching the fourth floor.

"Well, this is my stop. See you around Dayana."

I waved her bye as Xander just stared at her.

"Who was she?" I asked.

"An old friend of yours."

"She looked young." I commented.

"She's 16."

"Wow." I muttered.

"You're amazed...?" He asked, tilting his head to the side.

"I mean, she's so young. Who knows how old she was when she joined this gang."

"She was thirteen, recruited by you, actually."

I looked at him in bewilderment, "I did?"

He chuckled at my response.

"If Travis knew about this, he'd freak." I muttered, "Speaking of Travis— oh my cheeseballs I haven't texted nor called him yet!"

"Relax. You can text him now, but if you try to tell him where you are, you might not be able to deal with Leon or Lawrence." He told me, "Don't ever get Lawrence mad. He's pretty... scary."

"Noted."

I took out my phone and nearly fainted.

This is the first time I've opened my phone since I got here and I was surprised with the amount of calls and texts I got.

62 missed calls and 278 messages from Big Bro <3

12 missed calls and 98 messages from Layla

12 missed calls and 72 messages from Charlene

I gulped and opened up Travis's messages first.

From: Big Bro <3

DAYANA I SWEAR TO GOD I AM NOT GOING TO THINK RATIONALLY ANYMORE IF YOU DON'T ANSWER ME RIGHT NOW

From: Big Bro <3

Authorities are looking for you now. Heck, you're on the news sis. YOU BETTER ANSWER ME

From: Big Bro <3

Dayana?

I shuddered at the thought of Travis getting mad and looking high and low for me.

I quickly typed in a reply.

To: Big Bro <3

Travis! I'm okay, I swear I'm fine. You don't need to look for me anymore, I'll be home soon, I promise.

I sighed in relief and was about to open Layla's messages when my ringtone beat me to it.

I groaned in vexation and glanced at Xander.

"Go ahead, the top floor is a long way up." He replied.

I answered Travis's call.

"Hello?"

"Dayana?" A restless voice asked.

"Y-yeah?" I replied.

"Where are you, my angel?" He asked.

"Travis, calm down, okay?"

"I can't. I'll lose you again."

"No, you won't." I replied.

"Come back." He begged me.

"I will, big bro. Give me a little more time, okay? We'll play Uno once I get home."

"When will that be?"

"I don't know."

"I will kill anyone that takes you away from me. Where are you?" His voice was low, I almost couldn't recognize it.

"I-I don't know, Trav."

"Dayana, just hang in there. I'll get there soon."

With that, he hung up.

I sighed, then was surprised when Xander grabbed my phone and dropped it.

"What the hell?!" I exclaimed, then he stepped on it.

"He's gonna track this down. Can't afford that."

I growled at him and was about to throw a fit when the elevator opened.

-

"William." I called out.

"Yes?" He replied, not bothering to look at me.

"You look at your leader when spoken to." I growled at him.

"I'm hacking something, wait." He reasoned.

"Well, stop hacking whatever that is and listen to me, boy."

He sighed and looked away from his computer to look at me, "What is it, sir?"

"Here. You know what to do." I told him as I handed him the paper with something scribbled in it.

He glanced at it and nodded, "Will do, boss."

I yawned and went over to the microphone in his room that was connected to the speaker of our base.

"Everyone, get ready. We'll ambush Cold Blooded Gang's base tomorrow. We'll claim the Psycho ours."

A devilish smile crept to my face after I finished the announcement.

"You sure about that? We don't even know where their base is."

"Oh, but I know someone who does." I replied.

"Who?"

I replied with a smirk and exited the room.

"Just you wait, Dayana."

-

I felt a shiver up my spine.

"Huh? Is something wrong, bro?" Lawrence asked.

"Yeah, yeah. I just..." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Bad feeling?" He asked.

"Yeah. How'd you know?"

"You remember that recent threat from the Quasar gang?"

"Yeah, what of it?"

"Olivia looked into it, and found out that they control Armadillo, Dizblood, and even Keens gang."

"Our three main rivals." I mumbled, opening my drawers to look for documents regarding Quasar gang.

"Not only that, but the threat also gave off a vibe that is just... so suspicious." He added, petting Simba.

"In what way?"

"There was a picture of Dayana, and it seemed pretty recent."

I froze.

"You mean to say that they've been watching Dayana before we got to her?"

"I think so... but the picture looked like Dayana was with them willingly, as if they were close with her." He replied.

"It could be from our school." I told him and brought out a a stack of papers regarding Quasar, their strengths and weaknesses.

"We need to keep a closer eye on not only Dayana, but all our rookies and members." He told me.

"So what should we do?"

"We still have hounds from our last 52 minutes, right?"

Lawrence looked at me seriously, sitting on his chair professionally.

There are really times when my brother looks like he is a young CEO of a big company rather than the leader of a gang.

I nodded, "What of them?"

"We unleash them outside our building tonight. We need to take precautions." He told me.

"Well, the members have been training pretty roughly these past few days an—"

"Not enough. They need to train harder." He cut me off.

He checked his watch and nodded at me, "Train again at 9 o'clock sharp."

I nodded.

Oh yes! I missed this book uWu and I missed my crazies more.

So yeah, there are actually three points of views in this chapter; Dayana's, Leon's, and someone else's.

Also, if you guts noticed, I've edited the first book and got rid of the author's notes.

Hmm, well, there's a pretty good reason for that—

WHICH WILL BE REVEALED LATER!

Anyways, there was a lot of gang action in this chapter, huh? And Travis finally appeared!
