Chapter Three
It had now been about a week since Kyle and Maxis found the little neighborhood and the house they were currently sheltering in. Everything seemed to be going fine up until today. That was because they were running out of supplies and needed to go scavenge for some today.
"You ready to go?" Kyle asked, turning towards Maxis who was slinging her bag onto her back.
Maxis nodded, "Always am, aren't I?"
"You want the honest answer or...?" Kyle said and then chuckled, laughing even more as he saw her flip him off.
With that said, the two siblings went to scavenge some supplies for their shelter.
***
As they walked down the road, they would silently kill some zombies that were in their way. Kyle opting for a hatchet/small ax and Maxis opting for a knife. They were trying to be as silent/stealthy as possible and they wanted to conserve bullets too.
"Hopefully we'll come across something soon." Maxis said.
Kyle nodded, "Hopefully so."
And just like that, they arrived at their first stop. It was a little gas station. Of course, there was probably no gas left in the pumps but that wasn't their concern, as they had no car.
"We both going in? Or is one of us keeping watch?" Maxis asked, walking to the door with Kyle.
"You can check it out, if you want. I'll keep watch." Kyle said, pointing to his his hatchet and pulling out his revolver.
Maxis nodded and pulled on the door. To her surprise, it was actually unlocked. She had thought that she needed to bust open the door or something. Once inside, Maxis would start rummaging through the aisles of the small convenience store. There was still some supplies left, which was a plus. There were bandages, aspirin, a few bottles of water and a few snacks, such as granola bars and poptarts.

It didn't take that long until Maxis was out of the store. She had a nice bit of loot, but there was still more room in her bag and Kyle's.
"Already done?" Kyle asked, having watched her step out of the gas station.
She nodded, "Got a little bit of stuff." She smiled, showing him the few things she found.
"Awesome." Kyle replied, smiling at everything, "Onwards we go, maybe we can find another place to loot?"
Maxis nodded and zipped up her bag, slinging it back around and beginning to follow behind Kyle.

It took a while but the siblings came across yet another gas station. No, it wasn't the same one they were just at either, they made sure of that.
"You check it out this time." Maxis said, volunteering Kyle for it.
Kyle sighed, "Fine, guess big bro's gotta do this?"
Maxis rolled her eyes a bit, "Just do it. I had to the last time."
With that, Kyle pulled the door. However, unlike the other one, the door was locked.
"Shit." Kyle sighed. He then looked around, making sure there were no zombies nearby. Once he and Maxis determined the coast was clear, Kyle smashed the window in the door and then managed to get in.
Maxis sighed, knowing how loud the noise was. Even though they couldn't see any zombies, it still worried her a bit, as there could've been some nearby, that they didn't see. Her worry was on increased, upon hearing loud crashing coming from the inside of the place.
"You fucker." Maxis grumbled, pulling out her pistol and entering the gas station.
What she soon found out was that Kyle had knocked over the sunglasses display and that crashed into a few empty shelves.
"What did you do?" She asked, keeping her voice low.
Evidently, Kyle must've not known that she was coming into the gas station because he jumped and turned around, whipping his revolver out in panic. However, once Kyle saw it was Maxis, he quickly holstered his gun, narrowing his eyes in annoyance.
"Jeez, don't scare me like that Maxis." Kyle growled.
"Next time, don't make it sound like a heard of elephants is stomping through then." She retorted back, growling as well, "Could've alerted anyone or any zombies nearby."
Kyle rolled his eyes, "As if they could hear that."
Maxis let out an exaggerated sigh, "Whatever." She grumbled and started walking out of the gas station.
Kyle finished up and quickly left as well, "Come on, let's go." He bluntly said.
Just like last time, the two would walk down the road. They hoped to find a gun shop or something along the way, which was probably wishful thinking. Also, their journey was now silent again, prehaps from the little verbal spat they had.
***
The sun had started to set while Maxis and Kyle were busy looting one final place.
"After this one, we'll go back." Kyle said, continuing to pick up items.
Maxis nodded, also continuing to help loot the last place they were in. It didn't take long for them to finish up, and then they left, heading back to the neighborhood and house they had been staying at.
....
A/N: And that's the end of this chapter! Once again, another filler chapter. However, things should start getting good soon, hopefully lol. Peace out for now!
