Chapter 36

"Droy! Where are you?!" He searched in the hallway, in his dorm, but there was no sign of him, "Dammit Droy!"

He looked out the window of his dorm, "What the hell is going on?" He whispered. Soldiers were handcuffing students putting them in cages like animals. Students tried fighting back but only resulted in them being restrained by the soldiers.

"What are they doing to us?" A girl, no older than tweleve, whispered to her friend.

"I-I don't know." She pulled her legs closer to her chest, "why are they doing this to us?"

"Hey!" A girl yelled, banging on the bars of the cage, "I'm talking to you lady!"

Veena sighed. She finished signing her papers and walked over to the girl, "What do you want?"

"I want to know why you're taking everybody hostage!"

"That's classified."

"Classified my ass! You either tell us why we're here or-"

"Or what?" Veena adjusted her glasses, walking face to face with the girl, "What will you do? I have the upper hand, I have you all stuck in cages." She chuckled, "you guys can't even use the one thing that separates you from humans."

The girl growled.

"I have the power." She smirked, "I have the power to destroy you and all your little friends. So don't ever threaten me again or you will see what I am really capable of."

The girl gripped the bars of the cage, "you won't get away with this."

"But I already did." That same sinister smirk was plastered on her face sending fear into the girls whole body, "take them away."

"You heard her! To the lab!" A soldier yelled.

"Jet!"

The boy turned to see his best friend, relieved that he was safe, "where have you been? It's chaos out there."

"I know. They're gathering all the students up."

"Why aren't they using their powers? Why aren't they fighting back?" Jet whispered.

"It don't know, but we need to get out of here."

"You're right let's-" They both stopped as they saw the soldiers standing in the doorway, watching their ever move. Jet gulped, "W-What do you guys want?"

The soldiers stayed silent, slowly reaching for their weapons. Jet noticed and stood in front of Droy, "stay behind me." He whispered, "on my mark..."

The soldiers charged at them, taking their weapons out of their holsters, aiming it at them.

"Now!" Droy jumped in front of jet throwing seeds into the air, making pants grow in mid air, attacking the men.

Vines wrapped around them, suffocating them, until they were unconscious. Both boys rushed out the room, alarming soldiers in the halls, "Stop now!" A soldier yelled.

"Down the stairs." Jet said, pulling Droy to the stairs. They both rushed down the stairs trying to reach the bottom floor.

"This way!" Jet pushed the emergency door exit open, sounding the alarm.

Veena turned to the school, "What the hell are they doing in there?" She took a radio from the soldiers belt, "What is that alarm?"

"Some students activated the emergency exit alarm from the stairs."

She pinched the bridge of her nose, "where are they?" She said in a threatening voice.

"East side of school, bottom floor." He said.

She threw the radio back at the soldier, "if you want to get things done right, you have to do it yourself."

"Where are we going?" Droy asked. Jet didn't answer, all he could think about was running and getting out of that place, "Jet!" He grabbed his shoulders making him stop, "where are we going?"

"I-I..." he looked around, confused, to see they were in the basement. He blinked rapidly, before turning back to Droy, "I don't know."

The doors slammed opened and soldiers flooded the room surrounding the boys. They had their weapons aimed at them, "surrender now!" A soldier yelled.

Both of the both put their hands up. Droy looked over to a laughing Jet, "what's your deal dude?" He whispered.

"If I'm going out, I'm not going out like this."

"Dude no. You're not getting us killed because you want a little action. Jus do as they say."

"No way Droy. I'm tired of playing by the rules."

Droy sighed. He knew jet wasn't going give up easily. Like they say, if you can't win, join them, "I'm killing you if we die." Droy said.

Jet laughed, "deal." They both steadily put their hands down, alarming the soldiers.

"Put your hands up!" The soldier yelled.

They both stood still and silent, observing the room, "if you don't put your hands up by three we will shoot!"

"One!" Jet clenched his fist.

"Two!" Droy hovered his hand over his bag of seeds.

"Three- oomph!" Jet zoomed around the room taking out a couple soldiers in seconds.

"What the hell!?" A soldier pointed his gun at Jet, firing.

"Jet!" Droy threw seeds in jet directions, making plants sprout from the ground, blocking the bullets from firing at him.

Jet panted, "thanks." Droy nodded.

He threw seeds at a group of soldiers, making plants sprout from the ground, burying the soldiers in weeds and Vines.

"I think we can actually pull this off!" Jet yelled, punching one of them in the jaw.

"Maybe your right, but that doesn't change the fact you're still super reckless."

"It's good to live a little free and reckless. You should try it sometime."

He chuckled, "trust me, when I'm with you Jet, nothing is ever boring."

They both stood back to back, panting from the fight, "we did it." Jet said, "I told you we could right?" He didn't hear anything from him, causing him to turn around, "Droy?" He tapped his body only to see him fall on the ground. His eyes widened, "D-Droy?"

He stared down at his lifeless body, until someone from behind him grabbed his arms, restraining him, "What are you doing-" he felt a sharp pain in his neck.

"You can't run away from me." They whispered in his ear.

He fell to the ground, struggling to back onto his feet, "What did you do to me?" He fell back onto his knees, falling to the ground.

She threw the needle to the side, "if you want to get things done right, you have to do them yourself." She smirked, "put them with the rest."

"This is totally embarrassing." Gray said, putting on Juvias sunglasses to at least hide the last of his dignity.

"It's fine ice breath. At least you're not the one pushing a two hundred pound baby in a stroller."

"I'm not two hundred pounds!" He said. He turned to Juvia, "I'm not two hundred pounds right?"

"Not at all Gray." Juvia said.

"See Juvia said I wasn't."

Natsu stuck his tongue out at Gray, while Gray did the same.

"You're both so childish." Lucy said, "the youngest one here is eleven and she's more mature than you guys."

Luna giggled watching them argue.

"Ahh!" Cana said, smelling the air, "waffles and bacon, come to mama."

They all rushed to the cafeteria. Jellal grabbing a tray for both him and Erza, Natsu helping Gray pick out his food, Lucy and Juvia laughing, and Cana and Luna scamming the chef into giving them extra waffles.

Everything was perfect at this moment... for now at least.
