Chapter 10
"That damn trumpet!" Cana screamed into her pillow.
"Please make it stop!" Luna whined.
Lucy opened the windows, taking in a fresh breath of the morning air while letting in all the sunlight, blinding Luna and Cana.
"It burns," Luna said, hissing, covering her face with the blanket.
"Rise and shine sleeping beauties, it's time for school."
"No." Cana said throwing a pillow at Lucy, who perfectly dodged it.
"Oh come on, schools not that bad."
"Speak for yourself." Luna murmured.
"Alright, I guess you guys leave me no choice." Lucy stared at them, hoping that they would at least be scared of her warning. She sighed. She went up to their bed and yanked the blankets off, "come on guys, please?"
The only thing you could hear from them was their snores.
"Ok, that's it." She walked down the hall, making sure she wasn't seen, to the cafeteria and grabbed a bucket of water, "lets see who's playing after this." Lucy said, while wearing a sinister grin.
She stood in front of them with the bucket, "alright! Last warning, will you get up or not?"
"Not." Cana said.
"What she said," Luna added.
Without warning Lucy threw the water on them soaking them and everything on the bed.
"What the hell Lucy!?" Cana yelled.
"Hey, I warned you guys."
"Yeah, but I didn't think you would throw a bucket of water on us." Luna said.
"Well now that you guys are up, we can now start getting ready for school. We don't wanna be late don't we?" Lucy said, walking out the room.
"I'm trying so hard not to burn down this school with everyone in it." Cana said, through gritted teeth.
"She's right we need to get ready. I'm not trying to get a second detention on my second day of school."
"Fine." Cana agreed, getting out of the bed, "but first, breakfast."
Lunas stomach growled, "agreed. To the cafeteria!"
As they walked into the cafeteria, everything was the same as yesterday. People were still in their same cliques, same breakfast menu, and the same long lines going out the door.
"So I think I found one of the people you're looking for." Cana said.
"Really? Who?" Luna said, grabbing a bag of sliced apples.
"I don't remember his name, but I do remember the piercings all over his face."
"Oh, you must be talking about uncle Gajeel."
"Yeah, he's pretty scary looking."
Luna chuckled, "he may look scary, but he's a big sweetheart."
"Doesn't look like it to me."
"Trust me."
They walked toward an empty table near the trash cans, "is this really the best that we can do?" Luna said, staring at the table.
"Apparently so." Cana sat down at the table, taking a bite into her apple.
Luna sighed and sat down beside her, "it sucks being the new students."
"Tell me about it."
A couple of boys came in, "Come on, you can't tell me that your not into any girls in this school."
"I'm not really looking for a relationship right now, I need to focus on school."
"Oh come on, every girl in this school wants you and your telling me, the Natsu Dragneel, isn't interested in one of them."
"That's right."
Luna looked around for the voices as soon as she heard that name, "D-Dad?"
"Ok, ok, what about that Lisanna girl that's liked you since you first came to this school."
"Dude I told you, I'm not looking for a relationship. I need to focus on my school work."
The guy sighed, "you really don't know what you're missing out on."
"But I think I do." He took a bite of his bacon heading to one of the tables beside Luna and Cana.
Luna couldn't help but stare at him. All she could think about was the last moment she saw him.
The moment he died.
"Luna!" Cana yelled getting her attention.
"What's going on?" Luna said, coming back to reality.
"You spaced out for a second when you saw that guy over there."
"Yeah, he's my dad." She said wiping the stray tear from her eye.
"Woah, that's your dad? He's pretty hot."
"Ew Cana." She scoffed.
"What? he is-"
"No more Cana."
"Fine." Cana took another bite of her apple, "makes me wonder what happened to you." She bursted out laughing.
"Hey! That's not funny!"
Luna scoped around the cafeteria, hoping she would see the rest of the crew.
"I can't believe you got it already! I've been waiting a week for that book!"
"Yeah, I already finished half of it and it's amazing."
"Ugh, you're so lucky, and don't think you're going to spoil this book for me like you did the last one."
"Yeah I remember. You didn't come out of your room for a week, then someone had to drag you out."
"What can I say, I'm serious about my reading."
"We know, Lev."
"Aunt Levy?"
"Dude, its seriously not healthy to just eat snowcones all day and not wear a shirt in this weather."
"I like the cold." He took another scoop of his ice and scooped it in his mouth.
"I know you do, considering you can turn things into ice, but just eating that all day can really hurt you."
"I've been doing this since I was five, I think I'm going to be ok."
"Whatever you say, Gray."
The boy named Gray turned around after hearing the voice of the one person he couldn't stand the most, "Natsu..."
Natsu turned around, growling "Gray..."
"Uncle Gray?"
"You have a meeting with the vice at two today."
"Ugh, him... Reschedule it, I don't feel like seeing his face today."
"This is the fifth time you rescheduled. He's getting impatient."
"I don't care if that low life is getting impatient. I don't want to see him or talk to him. Him being the vice is already stressful enough."
"I'll see what I can do, but Jellal is not going to be happy."
"Uncle Jellal?"
"I could really care less-" the woman bumped into someone making her almost fall.
"Hey! Watch where you're going-" they both said.
"Well, if it isn't Erza scarlet."
"Jellal Fernandes." She crossed her arms.
You could practically slice through the tension in the room. Everyone in the school knew they had problems with each other but wondered why they would continue to work together. They both glared at each other until one of them couldn't take it anymore.
"Tch, make sure you make it to the meeting today." He bumped into her shoulder, heading toward the line.
"What is going on?!" Luna yelled.
"What are you talking about?" Cana said, with a piece of bacon hanging out of her mouth.
"Everyone is here, but they hate each other."
"Sheesh, that's tough."
"The family I know back home could never hate each other." She put her head down and sulked, "how can I make this plan work, let alone get them in the same room."
She sighed, "this plan was doomed from the start. I'm no hero."
Cana stared at her, "What are you talking about? Are you really giving up that early?"
"No, but look at this! There's no way I could convince them all to work together. They look like they want to kill each other."
"Relax, let's start small and just get them all into the same room."
"And how are we going to do that?"
A sinister grin stretched across Cana's face, "just leave it to me."
