chapter 6

  "Sam, wake up. SAM!!!"
i shoot upwards, hitting Shard in the nose whom had been shaking me.

"oww...."

i roll my eyes slightly before mumbling an apology and flopping back against the tree i had slept beside.
"nope, we got work to do. You're getting up to help us." i hear Jayne say as Shard suddenly picks me up. i whine as lazily throwing my arms on my captors back in an attempt to escape. she hoists me off her shoulders and i'm suddenly immersed with water. a screech emits from my mouth as i claw the pebbles beside the small stream i had been thrown.

"keep it down i'm trying to sleep."
I growl slightly and everyone else snicker as i drag my drenched form up to Nikki's resting tree, jumping up and grabbing her branch, flinging her off.
"Ouch!"
He hit the grass with a thud. i just smirk, rubbing my eyes and yawning.
"you could have just told me to get up."
he stand, stretching.
"yeah, well that wasn't my wakeup call."
the others laugh once again, i help nikki to his feet.

"Alright,so now that we're all up, willing or not, here's what we gotta do." i roll my eyes while Eris starts counting things off with her fingers. Don't judge me, I hate mornings!
"So, we must gather any remaining fruits to aid us through the next few test, I hunted down the door to the next challenge and will take us there when we have what's needed. Sam and Jayne, judging by what your villages were like and what you did i assume you should both know how to weave wood bark?"
Jayne nods while i mutter an agreement. It is true that my village had been taught in the art of weaving, and I have the splinter marks to prove it!

"Great, you two must at least try to make a basket strong enough to hold the fruits without breaking. Shard and Nikki, i want you two to be collecting a food supply from the grove."
Shard and a very tired Nikki grunt, acknowledging the telikans speech.

"-And what is it that YOU will be doing? or are you just gonna watch us work?" I snort with a slight chuckle.
"I'll be finding something to hold water in, we'll need it to get out of here without dehydrating."
After the discussion we all split off. Shard and Nikki towards the garden, Eris to the field beside the stream, and Jayne 'n I to the small forest.
She begins to tear bark from the old tree's, myself praying to mother nature while i start to weave.
once we had finally finished the dreaded basket, after hours of determination and splintering hands, we picked it up and marched to the grove to find Shard and Nikki.

"We finished, if you want we'll start loading your haul in?"
The morpher nods in agreement as she starts tossing apples to me, jayne goes to help Shard with the banana's.
"I see you're all completing your tasks quite flawlessly. well, i have the water. was able to carve out a chunk of wood with a rock." Eris says stepping into view with a heavy looking wood bucket.
"sounds like fun." Shard replies sarcastically.
we all share a laugh before we're ready to set off.

"where exactly is the door out?" Nikki says hauling the basket of fruit behind her.
"I found it over here." Eris exclaims kneeling over a pile of leaves. she brushes them away revealing a trap door.
"how did you find this in the first place?" Shard asks careful not to spill the water she was transporting.
Eris shrugs, her face indistinguishable. a mix between confusion, and confidence.
" while I had been looking for a rock sharp enough to carve the wood that's holding our water I stumbled onto it. hurt my Arm on the latch." She rolls her arm over to show a red mark just under her left shoulder.
We all look at her before unlocking and climbing through the door below. once down it disappeared like all of our other exits. No way back. Eris walks to the lightly illuminated gold plate on the far wall of the tiny room we've all been huddled into.
"A child mentality, an imagination with no limits. the next challenger will be your only hope to escape the next round. They may break or already be broken, but with heart and mind that only they can wield. choose your next champion."
Eris ponders before hesitantly grabbing my arm and shoving me towards the large steel doors beside the plate. I turn to stare at her. Should I feel offended by the riddle? Shaking the thought from my head I grasp the cold handle, flinging the door open. We all step inside as the gateway abandons us once more. Inside is something i would never have imagined.

My brother, Jackson, stood before me. His dirty blonde hair ruffled and dirty, bags under his crystal like sapphire blue eyes. Dressed in his casual leather tunic over a lime green cuffed shirt, ripped brown pants, and small boots.
"Jackson!" I scream lunging towards him. He catches me in his arms, twirling me around with tears lacing the brim of his eyes.
After a few minutes I lean away from him so I can see his face again, still in his hold. I scan the land around us. A forest and field. Small huts, and trading stands set up lining the trees around us. Other invisia's bustling around us smiling, laughing, playing in the centre of town. My old village. My home. My eyes tear up as I look back at my brother.
"I thought I'd never see you again... B-bro.J." I laugh lightly as the nickname.
I have to show him to the others. I let go from the hug, still holding his hand.
"Jayne! Eris, Shard? Nikki!!" I yell out, only to realize something. They're not here. Confused I glance back at Jackson. I let go of his hand, determined to go look for my friends, only to have my brother's strong hand grip my arm harshly. Spinning to look at him, though I wish I hadn't.

"Why are you leaving us again, Sam? I thought you loved us?" My eyes widen at the sight. My family, all of them. My mother, her graying brown hair and sweet blue eyes, Jackson, and my grandmother, White hair and frail body. All chained to cell walls, the same as the at the containment centre. each scared and drenched in their own, and each other's, crimson blood. My brother's hand falls limply off my arms as their bodies all become inanimate. lifeless eyes staring at me in sorrow.
"B-bro.J......"
