An Elite Meet and Greet

It was the start of summer vacation and I was sitting on my bed, reading a book about astronomy. I was wearing a beige and black dress with black leggings, and black flats. Then, there was a knock at my door.

"Come in." I said.

In came Hannah.

I never let Hannah in my room, only on special occasions.

"What do you want? Can't you see I'm reading," I hissed.

"I was wondering if you knew where Natey was," she said.

"Yeah, he's in the backyard. He said he was planning something for us."

"Well, come on. If it's for us, then you have to come, too."

She grabbed my arm and started pulling me.

"OW! If you pull any more, my arm is going to snap off." I said.

She knew I wasn't going to move. She hopped on top of me and glared at me with pale blue eyes. I just smiled at her.

"Okay, fine. I'll come, only because it's from Nate." I said.

Hannah gave me a gruesome look, which was replaced with a bright smile. She got off me and I followed her to the backyard. Grandma was out with some friends, and won't be back for a while. So Nate was watching us. When we went outside, the warm weather was wonderful. I saw Nate setting up something, but didn't know what.

I hope it has something to do with astronomy.

"Hey Nathan." I said, poking his side.

He flinched and turned to me. He blushed a little.

"Still sensitive as ever I see," I teased.

"Only because you surprised me," he corrected.

"Sure. So what is this thing?"

"It's a game I made for your guys. An astronomy game."

YAY!

"So, what do we have to do?" Hannah asked.

"I placed different constellation puzzle pieces around the backyard, and it's your job to find them all. There's twenty in total, and I hid them pretty well," Nate said boldly.

"So what do we do when we find them all?" I asked.

"Put them in this gizmo here. With each puzzle piece you find, it will give you a clue onto where another piece is nearby."

"That sounds like fun!"

"Come get me when you're done. Okay, on your mark, get set, GO!"

Hannah and I were off looking for the pieces. In the trees, the bushes, the garden, everywhere.

"Finally, I got them out the house." Nate said, pulling something out of his pocket.

He looked down at the object and sighed.

"I just hope they're making the right decision." he said.

He went back inside and left us. An hour has past, and Hannah and I only found ten pieces. We were getting exhausted.

"Okay... I'm done. I'm going to take a nap, then we can finish this astronomy treasure hunt." Hannah said, panting.

"Good idea." I said.

We went back inside and we went in our bedrooms. Then, I saw something on my bed. It was a package from the Ezra Spy Agency. Never heard of it. I opened the package and inside was a hand mirror with blue gems on it.

It's beautiful.

I opened it and my reflection appeared. Then, a woman with blonde hair with pink highlights appeared and replaced my reflection.

"Greetings Ms. Davis. I am Agent Diana. I am the commander of the Elite Four of the Ezra Spy Agency," she said.

"Uh... hi, Ms. Diana. Um, how do you know my name?" I asked.

"We have been watching you for quite some time now, and we have been acknowledging your knowledge for astronomy. And that is where I ask you a question."

"Lay it on me."

"What is a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse?"

"A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra. This can occur only when the sun, Earth, and moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. A solar eclipse is a type of eclipse that occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and when the Moon fully or partially blocks the Sun."

"Impressive. I knew you were the right girl for the job. Now it's time for your training to begin at HQ."

"My training? What do you mean by that? Where is the HQ? How do I get to the Ezra Spy Agency?"

Diana was silent for a while.

"Do you have a wall mirror on your West wall?" Diana asked.

"Surprisingly, yes. How did you know?" I asked.

"Like I said, we have been watching you for quite some time. Now, what I want you to do is walk to your mirror and open it like if you're opening a door. There you should see a staircase that leads downwards. Then, you will be standing in the foyer of the Ezra Spy Agency."

I followed her instructions and walked to my mirror. I grabbed the boarder of it and opened it like a door. Just like Diana said, there was a staircase leading downwards. I took a deep breath and walked downstairs. My mirror closed behind me.

"I'm walking downstairs now, Ms. Diana." I said.

"Excellent. I'll see you there." she said.

Her image faded away, and I could see my reflection once more. I put the communicator in my pocket and walked ahead. Then, I started walking straight down a path, with light at the end of it. Then, I saw a figure waiting for me. I walked a little faster, and I saw Diana, wearing a red spy suit.

"Welcome, Genevieve. Welcome to the Ezra Spy Agency!" Diana said.

It was huge. I saw lots of spies and agents walk by. The females were all wearing the same suit like Diana, but in different colors. The males had on a similar suit, but it was more masculine. I felt so different here. Then, I saw four more spies walking our way. Three boys and one girl. The girl had on yellow suit. She had purple hair and green eyes. The boys were wearing green, black, and white. The boy in green had orange hair with purple eyes, the boy in black had beige hair and red eyes, and the boy in white had black hair and ocean eyes. They greeted me with warm smiles.

"Hi there, Genevieve. I'm Agent Madison, but you can call me Maddie." she said.

"I'm Agent Austin. It's an honor to meet you, Ms. Genevieve." he said.

"The name's Agent Hunter. A pleasure." he said.

"I'm Agent Nathaniel. It's wonderful to finally meet you." he said.

"It's nice to meet all of you, too. Wow, this is so awesome. It's like I'm in a dream!" I said happily.

They all laughed at my amusement.

"This is the Elite Four, and I am their commander. They will be helping you train," Diana said.

"Train? What do you mean?" I asked.

"If you ever come across a villain, you'll need to be ready to fight them." Hunter explained.

"Oh, I get it. So, when do we start?"

"Now. Follow me to the training room."

We followed Diana to the training room. On the way, I met a lot of other agents. I even got to meet the president of the agency, Agent Grayson. When we got to the training room, there were a lot of spy gear, gadgets, and weaponry. I even got my own suit. It was blue, the same color as my communicator.

"First, we'll test your speed. And you'll be training with me," Austin said.

"Yeah, old Austin is quite the speedster if you ask me." Hunter said leaning on his shoulder.

"Anyway, you'll be racing me on this obstacle course."

The obstacle course was short, but was long enough to have many obstacles. Rope swinging, tightrope walking, and more. Whoever hits the button first wins.

Guess all of that obstacle coursing I did in the past summers with Vincent and Emily is going to pay off. Right here, right now.

Austin and I took our positions next to each other on the starting line. We looked at each other and smiled. Austin's long orange hair and purple eyes could take the breath away of any girl, but I wasn't going to let him seduce me so I can lose.

"Ready... GO!" Nathaniel cried.

We were off. Hunter was right, Austin is fast. The first obstacle was tightrope walking. Below us was a net, in case we fall.

In case you didn't know, I used to be a gymnast, and would always love to walk on the balance beam. So you can say this a remake of my fun childhood past.

I took a deep breath and walked on the tightrope. Without thinking, I began doing backward handstands on the tightrope, with every landing was light as a feather. I was in the lead. Next obstacle: rope swinging. Below us this time was a pool of water.

It's just like swinging on the vines in the Opal Rainforest when I went with Emily.

I grabbed the rope and stepped back. Then, I took a leap of faith, and swung over the pool without a single foot touching the water. One more obstacle to go: parkour.

Just like when I was with Vincent at Kale Beach Resort. Water parkour.

I took my position and jumped on the log and I started to lose my balance as it began to roll. I quickly jumped on a lilypad-like plate. I turned behind me, and Austin was catching up. He sure is fast.

What do I do?

Then, I saw my route. I just have to jump in a pattern. Log, lilypad, log, lilypad. I followed that pattern and I was getting faster and faster. When I saw the button in view, I took a leap of faith and landed on the button's platform. I pressed the button, and a silent siren went off.

I DID IT!

Austin landed next to me and smiled.

"My goodness, who knew a new spy would outrun me." Austin said, putting his hand on my shoulder.

We walked of the platform to meet up with the others.

"That... was... AWESOME! I've never met a spy that could beat Austin! You're something special, Gene." Maddie said.

"I am very impressed on your speed. Might I ask how you were so intelligent in this obstacle course?" Diana asked.

"The thing is, on the tightrope, I used to be a gymnast, and I was a champ on the balance beam. On the rope swinging, I went to the Opal Rainforest one summer, and I would always swing on vines across the Jade River. And on the parkour, I went water parkouring one summer at Kale Beach Resort," I explained.

"Guess all of that summer fun paid off here, huh?" Hunter asked.

"You can say that."

"Now it's time for your stealth training."

Diana pressed a button on a remote, and the obstacle disappeared under the floor. In its place, a small version of the Opal rainforest. appeared. At the end of it was a black flag.

"You will be playing a little 'Capture the Flag'." Diana said.

"And you'll be training with me." Hunter said.

He walked to the end of the course and stood three feet in front of the flag.

"What you need to do is use the forest as your shield. Make sure you do not make a sound. Do not be heard and do not be seen. Get the flag and call out to Hunter once you get it." Diana explained.

"Ready... GO!" Austin cried.

I walked into the forest without making a sound. I climbed a tree and looked at Hunter. He was circling the flag, as if he were a wolf, circling his prey. I leaped from branch to branch, very swiftly and quietly, like a jaguar. As I got closer, I climbed down a tree and hid behind a bush and thought about what I should to do.

They said I can't be heard. So, what if it wasn't me.

I just need a distraction. If Hunter is distracted, even for just a minute, that will give me enough time to get the flag. Luckily, there was a rock right next to me. I picked it up and threw it at the nearest bush by Hunter. The leaves rustled and just as I expected, Hunter got distracted. He looked at where the sound came from, and I made my move. I grabbed the flag and called out to Hunter.

"Hey Hunter, how's is hanging?" I teasingly asked.

He spun around in surprise and laughed.

"Now that's the art of stealth at its finest. Great work." he said.

We walked out of the forest together, with the black flag in hand.

"Another training course cleared. You are better than I thought," Diana said.

"I have one question though. What was that sound I heard in the bushes?" Hunter asked.

"I threw a rock at the bush to make you think it was me. I just needed you to be distracted for just a minute, and that was when I made my move." I explained.

"Excellent. Now, you will be training on your target practice."

Diana pushed another button and the forest disappeared under the floor as well. In its place, were several targets. Then, Maddie gave me a laser gun.

"You'll be training with me, Gene. Hope you're a good shooter. If you make more shots than me, you win. But it will get harder every time. Good luck." Maddie said.

We took our positions and readied our weapons.

"Ready... GO!" Hunter cried.

Maddie made the first shot. Bullseye. I concentrated on my target and shot my laser. Bullseye. After a few shots, the targets started to move. Maddie made perfect shots. I then remembered something.

One summer, I did archery with moving targets with Vincent. The trick is: Don't aim where the target is, aim where the target is going to be.

I concentrated and shot my laser. As it was about to miss, it hit the target. I followed that method for the next few turns, until the targets started flipping back and forth. I continued the same method and made excellent shots.

This is just like archery, only with lasers.

When time was up, we checked the results. Maddie made 130 shots, and I made 131. I beat her by one point.

"Wow, you are amazing, Gene." Austin said.

"Yes, I agree. How were you able to make perfect shots?" Diana asked.

"Well, one summer, I did archery with moving targets, and there was a trick that my friend taught me: Don't aim where the target is, aim where the target is going to be," I said.

"Your crazy fun summer experiences sure are helping you out, aren't they?" Hunter asked.

"They sure are."

"Well, now it's time for your final training course. Hand-to-hand combat."

Like before, Diana pressed another button, and the targets disappeared under the floor. It its place, a battle arena appeared. Then, someone placed their hand on my shoulder. I looked up, and it was Nathaniel.

"You'll be sparring with me. Hope your a good fighter. I won't be holding back. If you can hold me down for five seconds, you win." he said with a devilish grin.

We stepped into the arena and took our positions.

"Ready... GO!" Maddie said.

We charged at each other like raging bulls. Punching, kicking, jumping, and dodging was all you'll see. Then, Nathaniel swept his foot under me, and I fell. He pinned me down, but I kicked him off.

That was close. It's a good thing I kicked him off. If he had me down for two more seconds, I would of lost.

I rolled over his back and swept my foot under him, causing him to fall over. I sat on him and pinned his hands behind his back.

"1. 2. 3. 4. 5!" I cried.

I got off Nathaniel and offered my hand. He took it and got up.

"You sure are strong... well, for a girl that is." Hunter said.

I looked at him with a gruesome look. I swept my foot under him and he fell flat on his back. I pinned him down and stared into his ruby red eyes.

"I'm sorry, can you repeat that for me, Hunter?" I asked teasingly.

"Sorry, sorry. You're just as strong as us." Hunter said.

"Not just as strong, I 'am' strong as you guys."

I got off of him, and helped him up.

"Any secret as to how you won?" Diana asked.

"I used to play fight with my older brother, Nathan, and he told me, "If you're fighting someone you don't know the fighting style of, analyze it, and use it against them, but in a better version." I guessed I used that to my advantage when I was fighting Nathaniel." I explained.

"Well Genevieve, I want to be the first to welcome you to the Ezra Spy Agency." said a voice behind us.

We all spun around to see Agent Grayson standing there.

"Agent Grayson. How long have you been here?" I asked.

"I seen the whole thing. Your intelligence is definitely something I like to see in any agent, especially new ones. All of you, follow me."

We followed Agent Grayson to the foyer. He called all of the spies and agents to his attention.

"My friends, today we have found the agent that can take down that evil scientist. Please, put your hands together for the newest agent of the Ezra Spy Agency, Agent Genevieve, and our newest agent group, the Elite Five!" he announced.

All of them cheered. Agent Grayson gave me my utility belt, and I put it on. It had my communicator and my laser gun.

"Congratulations Genevieve. I knew you would make it." Diana said putting her hand on my shoulder.

"Thank you all so much. I know that I will do my part, and with all of your help, we can put a stop to the evil scientist!" I said.

They cheered even louder. After that, the Elite Five escorted me home. They told me to walk back up the stairs and open my mirror.

"Tomorrow, your first mission starts. Are you ready for it?" Diana asked.

"You bet I am!" I said.

Maddie gave me a quick hug and then stepped back.

"I'm going to miss you, Gene." Maddie said sadly.

"Don't worry, Maddie. I'll be back tomorrow." I reassured her.

She smiled. Before I left, I took a quick group selfie with them. I walked back up the stairs, and I was in my bedroom. I took of my spy suit and hung it in my wardrobe. I put on my pajamas, and walked over to Nate's room. He was sleeping.

I wanted to tell him the amazing day I had, but I didn't want to wake him.

I went back to my room, got in bed, and went to sleep.

What an awesome day. My dream is actually coming true. I'm astronomer, and an agent. I made amazing new friends, and now I'm part of the Elite Five and an agent at the Ezra Spy Agency. Tomorrow I have my first mission, and I can't wait for it. This is Agent Genevieve, signing off.
