Shadows
Groggy I sit up and set my feet on the splintered wood floor. "What are you talking about the only animals around here are the deer and they never get close." I rub my eyes and stand up. "That's what we're worried about we heard a twig snap and movements outside the others think it might be some one like you" randy ushers me to the layers of cloth. Stopping about half way through he lightly pushes me and I'm suddenly pressed against the door. You would think it being night time they would be able to step outside and in the beginning of the outbreak you would be right but as things got worse and the blight spread quicker humanity relished we had overlooked one thing. Where does the moon get it's light? That's right the good old sun! Now the only time the other could go out is during the new moon and those who's sores where still little enough to get out of bed truly didn't care. I stepped outside onto the cold night air. I shiver and can see my breath in the moonlight. I look up to se a Beautiful full moon. There are many reasons to not like the fallout of man kind but one major plus the the Beautiful night sky not hindered by any man-made lights. I looked around at the tattered streets I knew to well. The moon casting shadows made everything look peaceful yet uneasy. I look at the Surrounding land one final time and yell. "There's nothing out here it must've been a-" mid sentence I freeze in the darkness of the next house I see two empty glowing yellow eyes as if a blazing fire had been sucked of its heat. I slowly back to the door as the beast slowly lumbers threw a large hole in the houses wall it's eyes fixed on me. As it came out I began to see it more clearly. It's fur was thick and pitch black blending into the shadows around it. It's body was as if a gorilla had Ben mixed with a bear it's front legs larger than its back it looked as if it could stand up. In its current for legged state it was at least 12 feat tall possibly larger and had to get low to fit into the home it was currently getting out of. Finally it's face was like a gnarled fox or wolf if a fox could eat you whole with just one bite with two small twitching ears seeming to be the creatures smallest feature. Terrified I continue to lock eyes with the lumbering monster before me ready to attack. Within an instant I'm on the ground and my ear is cut and bleeding along with a gash on my face. I look up to see a chunk missing from the hood light streaming out into the night and one horror I will never forget...
