Chapter 1: Phoenix
There are many ways my…situation could be described.
Yes, that's right. I describe my life as a situation. Some thing are good, some thing are bad. I guess you could say some things are funny too. How my life started probably isn't too funny though, and other aspects, like my family tree, are just confusing.
Anyway. My life truly began in the village of Hangleton.
"Michael! Please…" Aria, my step-mother pleaded. "Please, we can't leave her here! Dumbledore may have been wrong! The prophecy-"
"Sibil Trelawney has never failed me Aria, I know she is right." My father kissed her forehead before gazing back down at one year old me. I knew it was only instinct for my step-mother to be like this. To fear such things. She is a muggle-born witch.
The banging on the door didn't stop from downstairs for a while. Something was there, waiting for a poor soul to open up and die first.
My father, crying for the first time in his life, stared down at me with more love and more compassion that any one ever has. "My girl," he smiled at me, patting my dark hair softly. I only replied with a giggling smile, blowing out spit bubbles and flopping around my toy, Ender the red phoenix.
Aria laughed softly with a smile, before leaning into the cot and kissing my forehead. "You would have made the most perfect daughter," she said, and quickly took off her hand the bracelet with different charms on it, putting it on my own. It automatically shrunk to fit.
"No," she giggled, "you already did make the most perfect daughter, my little Tasha." With that, she turned away and began to cry uncontrollably. It was then that my Father leaned down to me and whispered furiously.
"My little phoenix," he began, "when you were born, you were a miracle. It was destined that the first child, of the fourth child of a third child in the Saphire family would be born on the dawn of the first day of June. That child, if all is right, would be born with the Phoenix Flame Incantartem. When you were born, the great phoenix appeared and gifted us the necklace of your lifeline. A flame in the darkness. He told us one thing, 'Born to protect the boy who lives. The one to shine in the dark. The sun to the world at its most shadowed moment. Bright since the very start.' Never forget those words my young phoenix."
The room had filled with smoke now. I could taste and smell burnt everything, and little me started to realise something was wrong. I was crying. My father lifted me gently.
"Never forget little phoenix."
My big golden eyes watched my Father intently.
"Love is the most important sunshine."
Born to protect the boy who lives.
"None could love you more than Aria and I. Maybe someone, one day, but we love you so much. So does your mother, and your entire family."
The one to shine in the dark.
"You are strong. You will keep that boy safe for his whole life. We love you, Natasha Maria Saphire."
The sun to the world at its most shadowed moment.
"Because you are the sunshine in the dark."
Bright since the very start.
I was dropped back in my cot hastily, left with Ender, my phoenix necklace from my father, and Aria's bracelet. I watched as they burnt. I watched as Fenrir Greyback burst in, coming towards me before a tall but old man with a magnificent cloak appeared between the werewolf and myself.
The flames surrounded me. Beneath me, beside me, on my clothes and even Ender. I am the phoenix it touched, but could not burn.

I shout and sit up, throwing aside one of Draco's socks which he had oh-so-kindly draped across my face. He leans against my doorframe, smirking at me.
"What do you want?" I ask him rudely.
"Mother wants us to go to Diagon Alley today, for our things."
"And whom will we be accompanied by?" I ask, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Mother, this time," he tells me.
I look up at him catiously. "Just mother?" I ask.
"Just mother."
Slowly, I walk towards him. "Good," I say, before giving him and tough shove in the shoulder. I see him fall back on his backside before I slam my door shut and push my back against it.
My tired eyes stare at my Appleby Arrows Quidditch Team poster, then they find my black owl Tilly off in the distance out of my window. I push it open and she lands on my sill.
"Hello," I say. "Tired flight, hm? I know," I say, patting her feathers. "We both owed it to Harry though."
A while back, I had received a letter from a friend of mine, Harry Potter. His family were on a diet, so I sent him a handful of chocolate and a pie.
After taking a shower, I get dressed in my Hogwarts things for Diagon Alley. "You ready yet, or what?" Draco knocks on my door impatiently.
I open it and push passed him. "Mistress. Shall I make your bed?" A house elf asks. Lucius, AKA Loser-iss is suddenly right behind her.
"You do not ask. Do it. Now."
Kicking her slightly, the house elf tumbles into my room. Before I can scream at him, Draco's hand is over my mouth from behind and pulling me backwards.
"Are you ready children?" Mother calls from downstairs.
"Ready mother!" Draco calls back, before pulling me down the three flights of stairs.
We took the floo network to Diagon Alley, which might have been my most favourite place in the magic world. "I need a new owl," Draco said as mother went to collect our books.
"Why?" I ask.
"The last one died."
"How?"
The look he gives me is clear. It's something we don't talk about. The 'family guests' mother had staying on the fourth floor. Definitely not Aunt Bellatrix or anything like that.
Draco and I walk through the crowds of people, those from Hogwarts either glaring or smiling at us.
"You're coming with us to the World Cup by the way," my brother suddenly says.
"No, I'm going with the Weasleys."
"Tell that to mother."
I sigh heavily and we find the owl section. "Natasha," a voice greets. I leave Draco -who is inspecting a bunch of jet black owls- to talk to Phoebe.
She's a nice girl, who has had the biggest crush on George since the dawn of time. For some reason he'd never taken any notice of her.
Of course many girls had taken an interest in him and Fred. Yet he never acted on it.
"I'm done. Let's go," Draco said, forcefully dragging me out of the room. I went along aimlessly, hoping that we would soon reach the candy store.
"Says we need dress robes,
Tash," he mumbled.
Peeking over his shoulder, I see the list has dress robes written third.
"Cool. You've got dress robes. I need a dress."
It was then my turn to drag him. We walk down the street until we reach Madame Lilo's Gowns. Draco reluctantly follows me in.
Automatically I go to the red dresses. I am the phoenix in human form. I sure as hell don't plan on wearing orange or yellow, so red it is.
They were nice, but I didn't want something that would knock over things when I turned. Eventually, I found a really nice fish-tail red dress with white decorations.
"Do you want to look like a wad of turkish delight?" He chides, but I ignore him, buy it anyway and make him carry it back to where we were supposed to meet our mother.
