Episode One: Done Running

Hey lovelies!

Weird thing-- please comment and point out if there are any random numbers at the end of sentences. I'm not sure why it copy and pasted this way, but I did my best to catch them all! <3

..
..
.

The sun's golden rays beamed through the thick brush of the forest's trees, shining down on the cracked and faded road. Tall wooded trees were on either side of the road, a decaying wooden building to the side. The sky above was clear, one or two birds occasionally flying overhead.

Broken down, overgrown cars were crashed and abandoned along the road, a crow cawing as it lands on top of it. Leaves flutter down from the trees, a gentle breeze in the air.

It turns its head to look at a walker crawling along the ground, its lower half missing as it snarls softly. The crow squawks in alarm, flying away as a car flies past it.

The car's engine rumbled as it drove on, Clement's light brown, almost golden like eyes scanning the road carefully as he turns the wheel to the left slightly, avoiding another broken down car. He adjusts his hat on his head with a quiet sigh, glancing to his right and smile softly at the sight.

(Y/N) sat in the passenger seat angled to the side facing him, her legs pulled up to her chest and her eyes shut as she slept peacefully with her head leaning on the seat. Clement's dark navy blue jacket, which she had been using as a blanket, had slipped off a bit, making him frown.

Clement's eyes dart back to the road for a moment before he quickly reaches over, pulling the jacket back up and draping it back over her. Planting his hand back on the wheel, he gives her another look, a content smile on his face.

His smile falls when he hears a loud whirring, followed by a the sound of something snapping shut. This happens again, making him flinch as (Y/N) starts to stir. Clement lifts his hand to the rear view mirror, angling it downward so he could see AJ.

AJ sat in the backseat, wearing a faded, dirty yellow sweater with jeans and sneakers. His brown hair was curly, and a tad bit too long. He opens the break action of his mini pistol, spinning the cartridge holder before snapping it shut, repeating this a few more times.

"What'cha doing there, goofball?" Clement questions, a hint of annoyance lacing his words.

His voice had changed much over the last five years, becoming a tad bit deeper with a low quality to it.

AJ doesn't reply for a moment, popping the break action open and spinning the cartridge holder before snapping it shut. "Pretending we got bullets."

"Well, don't," Clement replies firmly, watching him in the mirror. "It's getting on my nerves, and you're going to wake (Y/N) up."

"Yeah, too late," (Y/N) mumbles with a heavy sigh, Clement turning to her with a frown as her (E/C) eyes open.

She stretches her arms forward, sighing as she lowers her feet to the car floor and relaxes back in her seat, putting her seatbelt on.

AJ puts his gun on his lap, pouting slightly. "... Sorry."

"It's okay, bud," (Y/N) looks back at him, grinning with a chuckle.

Clement shakes his head with a small smile, stretching his fingers out with his palms on the steering wheel as he shifts in his seat, sighing.

"I don't like goofball," Alvin murmurs after a moment, making Clement look back up to the mirror with a frown. "I'm too big for it."

"Would you prefer shitbird?" Clement jokes, making (Y/N) bark a short, quiet laugh and hit his shoulder.

AJ giggles, shaking his head. "No! That's mean," he replies, laughter in his voice. "You're a shitbird, Clem."

Clement laughs heartily in amusement, (Y/N) looking up with a playful head shake.

"Does bud still work?" she questions, turning back to look at AJ.

AJ considers it, humming with a nod. "Bud still works."

(Y/N) smiles in light relief, though it falls when AJ holds his stomach with a pained expression.

Clement notices this in the mirror, frowning. "What's wrong? AJ?"

"... Hungry," AJ admits reluctantly, his lower lip sticking out as he looks down.

(Y/N) faces back forward, looking down at the items around her feet and frowning in thought. She reaches down, grabbing a food magazine and offering it back to AJ.

"Here, AJ. Maybe you can practice your reading to help get your mind off your stomach?" she suggests, AJ grabbing the magazine from her and looking over the cover.

"Okay," AJ sighs, opening the magazine to a random page as his eyes scan through the words. "Preee-heat... Oven. P-ll-ace cream, vannn-il-la bean-- beans!" he grins as he gets the word right. "Into a sauce pan and bring to a boi-ill."

(Y/N) felt her stomach grumble loudly at the visual, making her wince as she and Clement exchange a glance to one another.

"Uh, on second thought, how about you don't practice reading right now?" Clement speaks up, AJ tilting his head and nodding as he puts the magazine down next to him. "It'll only make you hungrier..."

(Y/N) reaches back down, her hand bumping against AJ's Disco Broccoli toy. She grins, picking it up and showing it to Clement.

"Come on," she encourages quietly, Clement giving her a blank look. "You know he loves it more when you do it."

Clement sighs in defeat, grabbing it in his right hand and holding it up so AJ could see it. "Hey there, Alvin Junior!" he greets dramatically in a goofy voice, AJ's face lighting up as he turns his head to look at the toy. "It's me, Disco Broccoli! Word on the street is that you wanna eat me. Is that true? Do you wanna eat me?"

(Y/N) laughs into her hand at the impersonation, Clement shaking his head with a smile on his face as AJ giggles lightly.

"Come on, Clem. I can't eat a toy," he replies, shaking his head with a raised brow.

"Aw, man!" Clement continues dramatically, sighing loudly. "My feelings are hurt!"

"Well, my stomach hurts," AJ fires back to Disco Broccoli.

Clement hums, "hmm! Sassy."

AJ takes Disco Broccoli from Clement as he hands it over, AJ looking down at it with a small smile before he tucks it away into (Y/N)'s bag besides him.

(Y/N) looks back with concern when she hears AJ's stomach growl once more, shuffling in her seat and leaning forward to see what else was next to her feet. An almost empty bag of chips crinkles lightly when her boot brushes against it, making her pause as she reaches down and grabs it.

Clement's eyes look to the side to her at the sound, (Y/N) holding it up and gesturing to AJ with a head tilt. He looks from the bag of chips to her, breathing out deeply and nodding.

"Here, AJ," (Y/N) softly speaks, reaching the bag of chips back to him. "This is all we have. Sorry, bud."

AJ takes it, looking inside at the remaining chips with a wide smile before pausing. "What about you guys?"

"Go for it," Clement responds, glancing to the mirror to AJ with a nod.

"Yeah," (Y/N) agrees, looking ahead down the long road with a soft sigh. "We're going to find something soon. Promise."

AJ looks between the two, looking back down at the chips. "I believe you."

Their car continues down the road, the three traveling to an unknown destination.

...

They eventually come across an old, abandoned train station, Clement eyeing it as he slows the car to a stop in front of the entrance.

"Maybe a good place for supplies," (Y/N) suggests, reaching down and grabbing her sheathed machete.

"That's what I was thinking," he says with a nod, unclicking his seatbelt.

"We gonna do it?" AJ questions, making them look back to him.

Clement nods, offering a side grin. "Yeah, bud."

He reaches in his pocket, taking out AJ's switchblade and holding it back to him. AJ smiles eagerly as he takes it, (Y/N) opening her car door and stepping out. She slides her machete sheathe over her torso, clicking the straps on and adjusting it with a firm nod.

Clement steps out of the car as well, turning and helping AJ out as he climbs into the front seat. He keeps the driver door open, just in case they had to make a quick getaway.

(Y/N) sets her knee on the passenger seat as she leans inside the car, reaching in the back seat and grabbing her bag. She backs out of the car, slipping the bag over her shoulders before walking around to the car trunk.

Clement also approaches the trunk from his side, clicking the trunk open and lifting it up. They stand side by side, revealing Clement was now a good foot taller than her, even with her growing a few more inches the past few years.

Clement had also developed larger muscles on his arms from years of fighting, (Y/N) getting some as well along with callouses on her (L/R Hand) from wielding her machete.

He grabs his backpack from inside the trunk, setting it on the car bumper before grabbing the large, empty water canteen.

"Haven't had clean water in days," he mutters under his breath, shaking his head. "We need to find some."

"Yeah..." (Y/N) agrees, watching him tuck the canteen away inside his bag.

He reaches back inside the trunk, grabbing a pry bar and tucking it in his bag as well. Some of it stuck out as he zipped it up, sliding it onto his back and adjusting it as he faces (Y/N). They nod to one another, Clement slamming the trunk shut as she joins AJ's side.

"All right," Clement slides his hunting knife from its sheathe on his thigh, looking over it before putting it back. "Let's find some food."

(Y/N) looks around the area warily, her eyes narrowed and her mouth curled down in a frown. There was a bell, with a sign reading Friendly? Ring Bell, above it. There was a low, barred blockade, pushed open so they could get inside. Rusted trains were along either side of the entrance, an electricity pole knocked over on one of them and vines overgrowing the other.

"Look at that," (Y/N) points out the sign to Clement and AJ, scoffing and shaking her head.

Clement walks over to it, his brow arching. "Friendly? Ring the bell. Huh."

"What does it mean?" AJ questions, tilting his head as he looks up at Clement.

"It means the people here shoot first," he replies with squinted eyes, looking up ahead as he steps away from the bell.

"If there are even any people here," (Y/N) adds, walking around the barred blockage.

Her face hardens at the sound of bushes rustling, making her stop in her approach as a low snarl could be heard. Clement swiftly walks over, AJ running ahead and stopping at (Y/N)'s side as she holds her hand out in front of him.

A walker slowly rises from an overgrown garden area, snarling when it sees the three.

"Stay back," (Y/N) tells the two, slowly unsheathing her machete and holding it readily. "I got it."

The walker starts staggering closer, (Y/N) calmly approaching it. It reaches for her with a growl, (Y/N) side stepping out of its way as she hooks her foot on its shin. It trips, falling forward on its front with a gurgled grunt. (Y/N) turns to it as it starts rising, kicking its back so it falls back down before stepping over it, piercing through the back of its head with her machete.

Another walker appears from behind one of the trains, Clement turning to it with a sharp glare as he takes out his hunting knife. AJ runs to safety like they talked about, Clement walking up to the walker and kicking its knee. It falls with a growl, Clement raising his knife in both of his hands before wedging it between the walker's eyes, killing it.

(Y/N) looks back to Clement, who nods with his mouth curled up to one side in a smile.

Clement looks over at AJ, putting away his dagger. "They're down. Still with us?"

AJ nods for confirmation, rushing back over. "Still here. No bites."

"Good," (Y/N) smiles as she walks over, twirling the handle of her machete so the blade faced behind her. "Now, we gotta get inside that station. Have a look around, see if there's anything useful. Okay, AJ?"

AJ nods with a smile, turning and heading towards a tree with a tire attached to it with a rope. (Y/N) turns back to where the first walker had come from, humming lightly under her breath as she walks up to the wooden fencing.

"What's up?" Clement questions, walking over and joining her side.

"Whoever was here..." she starts, pointing to the wilted, dead crops. "They're long gone. Maybe they left some supplies inside this train station."

"Maybe," Clement mumbles in agreement, backing up before walking around the station's exterior.

(Y/N) takes another look at the crops before turning, walking quickly over to the set of wooden stairs leading up to the station porch. She looks up along the building, a pipe system connecting from the gutter leading to a trash can.

Her brows furrow as she opens the trash can, mossy, dirty water shimmering inside. Her nose scrunches up as she shuts the lid, shaking her head.

She makes her way back towards the front of the building, spotting Clement and AJ over by the tire swing. With a small smile, she walks over, her ears picking up their conversation.

"Monster trap?" AJ questions curiously, poking the tire.

Clement chuckles softly, shaking his head. "It's not a trap. You swing in it."

"Oh, my gosh..." (Y/N) breathes out, her eyes lighting up as she stands at his side. "Haven't seen one of these in... God, I don't even know. Remember the one at our treehouse?"

Clement glances at her with a nod, smiling wistfully. "Yeah. You always had me push you. You would get so mad when I pushed you too high."

"It felt like I was going to die!" (Y/N) protests as he laughs, lightly shoving his arm.

AJ's brows were furrowed with confusion, blinking rapidly as he looks from the tire to them. "How is this supposed to work?"

"Oh," (Y/N) sheathes her machete, walking closer to the tire. "Well, you slip in here and sit down. And someone pushes you so that you... Well, swing."

She pushes it lightly, the tire swaying forward and backwards.

"Huh," AJ replies with fascination, peering through the tire gap. "I wanna try!" he pauses, standing up and shaking his head. "After we clear this place."

"Okay," (Y/N) agrees, smiling and nodding. "Yeah, we can do that."

AJ grins and nods, (Y/N) watching him fondly before turning back to the station. Clement looks over as she starts walking up to the door, patting AJ's back before following.

(Y/N) presses her ear to the door, her brows furrowing and eyes closing as she listens. She thinks she can hear a faint sound, making her hum lightly as she pulls back. Reaching for the handle, she tries to lift it, sighing in annoyance when it doesn't budge.

"Need a hand?" Clement grins, making her turn back to him.

He had the pry bar ready in his hand already, making her smile and look up at him.

"Well, aren't you just a knight in shining... Uh..." she looks over his clothing, Clement tilting his head with an arched brow. "...Rags."

"Oh!" Clement mocks offense, setting a hand on his heart and scoffing while stammering in disbelief. "Here I come to rescue you, Princess, and you repay my kindness with insults?"

(Y/N) laughs at this, her eyes shining in amusement as she grins and steps away from the door.

"How rude!" he huffs, stepping forward closer to the door with his prybar ready.

He wedges the prybar in between the door and the doorframe with a light grunt, planting his feet down firmly as he readies himself to tug it open.

"Been a while since you called me that," (Y/N) points out, leaning her shoulder against the building and crossing her arms over her chest.

Clement's eyes flick to her momentarily before he looks back to the door, slowly pressing his weight into the prybar as the door creaks. "What, want me to yell out, 'Hey, Princess! Walkers up ahead!'?" he lightly jokes, popping the door open with one swift movement.

(Y/N) shakes her head with a snicker, rolling her eyes. "Maybe. I like it."

(?) Clement will remember that

"... Oh," Clement blinks rapidly, glancing at her for a moment before looking away, clearing his throat. "Well... Okay."

AJ comes walking over, noticing Clement had opened the door leading to the train station. (Y/N) notices him, Clement following her gaze to the boy.

Clement squats down in front of AJ, looking into his eyes sternly. "What do we do inside a new place?"

"We listen for monsters," AJ replies without hesitation, nodding. "Or let (Y/N), because she can hear them better."

(Y/N) nods at this, standing besides Clement. "Good. And what do we do after that?"

AJ blinks slowly, "uh..."

"Come on," Clement encourages, AJ's eyes darting around as his brow furrows. "You remember. We... Inside a new place... We always..." he drags the word out, waiting for him to reply. "Find a way--"

"Find a way out," AJ quickly replies as he remembers, cutting Clement off.

Clement smiles, nodding. "That's right."

"Never let yourself get trapped with only one exit," (Y/N) warns softly, uncrossing her arms as she walks to the door. "I thought I heard something in here, so be alert. Okay?"

"Got it, Princess." Clement says as he rises from his squat, giving her a thumbs up as AJ gives him a curious look.

(Y/N) chuckles at the nickname, pushing open the door lightly. It creaks ominously, (Y/N) unsheathing her weapon as she slowly steps inside. Her eyes dart towards the source of a snarl, her eyes widening and face falling.

Sitting in two chairs side by side were two walkers, duck taped together and to the chairs. Their hands were intertwined, also duck taped together.

"Found the walkers, but..." (Y/N) calls to the two, Clement's brows furrowing lightly as he walks in with AJ in tow.

He follows her gaze, his brows raising up. "Huh."

"Monsters," AJ mutters, frowning as he stands close to (Y/N)'s side. "All tied up. They can't get us?"

(Y/N) and Clement exchange a wary look, (Y/N) slowly walking in front of the walkers and looking between them.

"No," she says after a moment, watching the duck tape around them closely as they snarl and reach for her. "They can't."

AJ hums in response at this suspiciously, walking towards the middle of the room and looking around.

"Front door is the only way out," he says with a frown, eyes squinted in distaste.

"We could use the windows, if we had to," Clement points out, gesturing to the foggy, dusty windows by the dining room table.

AJ walks over to a door leading behind the station ticket booth, turning the handle before looking back. "This one's locked."

"It's a security door," (Y/N) mutters, walking over with Clement and shaking her head. "Prybar won't work on that thing. Too sturdy."

AJ flinches as he holds his stomach, the few chips he ate not being enough to make him full.

"I know you're hungry, bud," Clement softly speaks, sighing. "We are, too. But we'll find something. (Y/N) promised, remember?"

AJ nods quietly, turning from the door and walking over towards one of the barricaded windows, watching the front door closely in case any walkers came in. (Y/N) walks back to the walker couple, frowning as she looks down at the note by their feet.

She kneels down, picking up the note as Clement looks over.

"What's that?"

"A note they left," she replies, her brows furrowing sadly. "Please leave us alone... This is what we wanted," she reads aloud, looking up from the note to Clement.

Clement shakes his head sympathetically, (Y/N) setting the note back down onto the floor with a soft sigh before grabbing an empty bottle of rat poison.

"Looks like they drank this poison," she looks over the label, reading the words along the side.

"Did they give up?" AJ questions, making her eyes flick up to him.

"... No," (Y/N) says after a moment. "They just... Didn't want to be apart, so they... Died together. Holding hands, in their home."

"Will we have a home?"

(Y/N) looks up with raised brows, turning to Clement with a guilty expression.

He takes a deep breath, rubbing the back of his neck. "We'll see, buddy."

AJ's face falls at this as he nods, his eyes casting downward.

(Y/N) looks back over the couple, her mouth falling open in surprise when she sees a key glistening on one of the walkers' belt. "Clem."

Clement looks up at his name, walking over. "Yeah, (Y/N)?"

She points to the key, Clement turning to the walker couple and looking down at the walker's belt.

"... Well, shit. There's the key, but..." he tries reaching for it, swiftly pulling his hand back when the walker tries to grab him. "Hmm."

"Do we get the key?" AJ asks as he walks over, watching the walkers warily.

"There might be another way," (Y/N) suggests, stepping around the walkers and crossing her arms. "Let's look around a little more."

"Let's be smart," AJ agrees, smiling as he nods.

Clement chuckles softly, "that's right."

(Y/N) walks past the two towards the kitchen, AJ returning to his spot watching the front door and Clement inspecting the security door. She looks over the table, bottles of empty wine and empty plates littering it.

"They had one last feast," she whispers under her breath, glancing back to the walkers.

Her face lights up when she sees an unopened jar, picking it up and weighing it. It was still heavy, indicating there was food inside.

"Beans!" AJ exclaims happily, reading the label as he peers around her.

"They're homemade, too," (Y/N) says with a laugh in her voice, shrugging her bag to one side and unzipping it. "There might be more of this, somewhere."

She places it in her bag carefully, zipping it back up and correcting it on her back.

"Hey, (Y/N), AJ, come look at this!" Clement calls from the ticket booth, making them look over.

AJ runs to Clement, (Y/N) speed walking after him as he peers through the small gap of the booth window.

"That's too small to crawl through," (Y/N) points out, setting a hand on her hip.

"For us, yeah," Clement agrees, standing upright and turning to her and AJ. "It's either the key or the window. Those are our only options."

AJ frowns, not liking the idea. "It's dark in there," he nervously says, looking back to the walkers. "We should kill the monsters. They're not people."

(Y/N) shakes her head, kneeling down in front of AJ. "Remember, walkers were people once, AJ. They weren't always like... That," she gestures to the walkers.

"And as people, they asked to be left alone," Clement adds in agreement, making AJ look up at him.

AJ processes this, slowly nodding. "So... What's best?"

(Y/N) rises, looking back to the ticket booth window and frowning with uncertainty. "I know it's scary, AJ. But... We need your help with this one. If I could go, I would."

"There might be food inside," Clement tries to persuade, walking over to the window and slamming his hand on the counter loudly.

He listens, no walkers being heard inside.

"And we need you to be brave," he finishes, turning to AJ with a small smile.

"But you don't have to do this if you don't want to," (Y/N) quickly speaks up, shaking her head. "We're not going to force you into this, AJ."

AJ considers their words, looking from the walkers to the booth gap before slowly nodding. "I can do it, (Y/N). I can be brave."

Clement smiles proudly, (Y/N) smiling softly with a nod as he walks over to the booth.

"Lift me up," AJ tells Clement.

"Yes, sir!" Clement chuckles, grabbing under AJ's arms and lifting him up to the booth counter easily. "Once you're through, unlock the door."

"Got it," AJ replies as he crawls through the gap, landing safely on the other side.

(Y/N) and Clement make their way to the metal door, the walkers snarling loudly behind them making (Y/N) jump lightly. A few moments pass, Clement's foot tapping anxiously and (Y/N) shifting on her feet.

"AJ?" Clement whispers urgently, reaching for the handle.

The handle turns before he could reach it, AJ grinning as he opens it fully for the two.

"You guys gotta see this!" AJ excitedly says, waving them inside.

(Y/N) sighs in relief with a smile as she walks into the office, Clement setting a hand on his chest with an exhale through his nose. He looks back warily at the walkers, following them inside.

"Huh," he hums, looking around. "They had a good thing going here."

Cans of opened, eaten food were stacked neatly in a pile by a comfy looking mattress, an empty water jug sitting on the desk in the corner.

"Can we stay here?!" AJ questions hopefully, turning to Clement with a smile.

"... We'll see," Clement replies, not wanting to give him false hope.

AJ's smile falls, his eyes casting down to the floor. "No one's here. No one's ever anywhere. It's always just... Monsters."

"At least we're here," (Y/N) responds, giving him a small smile as she kneels down to his height. "And we're all together. Right?"

"... Yeah," AJ sighs with a nod, looking up at her.

His eyes flick past her, his expression brightening as he gasps with a grin. AJ runs over to a dresser, some stray bullets laying on it. He grabs them, clicking his gun open and loading the cartridge with the two bullets.

"Found some bullets, kiddo?" Clement questions musingly, his arms crossed over his chest loosely.

"Just a few," AJ replies, snapping the break action shut.

"You remember what we taught you?" (Y/N) asks as she walks over, standing in front of AJ. "You know this. Should know it by heart," she continues, AJ frowning in thought. "Always--"

"Always aim for the head," AJ finishes, cutting her off.

(Y/N) smiles, "good. You do remember."

"Come on," Clement urges, glancing around the room. "We should keep looking. Sun'll set soon, so I want to get what we can while it's light."

(Y/N) nods in response, walking closer to the bed. Her foot kicks a can, making it roll away a few feet. Her brow raises as she bends down, picking it up and clicking her tongue with a sigh.

"Nope. Spoiled," she grumbles, the can cut open and mold growing on the food that spilled out. "Sorry, guys. This one's no good."

"Fuck."

(Y/N)'s head snap up, her and Clement looking to one another, baffled at what AJ just said.

"Hey," Clement says with disapproval, shaking his head as he looks down at AJ. "Watch the swears."

"You said shitbird before!" AJ defends, pouting.

"Do as I say, not as I do," Clement replies, giving him a stern look.

(Y/N) snickers quietly, shaking her head as she tosses the can to the ground. AJ's eyes follow it, squinting when he notices something off.

"Look," he points towards the mattress, the corner of what seemed to be a hatch visible.

Clement's brow raises as he walks over to the bed, "there's something under here..."

"Here, I'll help," (Y/N) moves to his side as he grabs under the mattress, grabbing it besides him as he smiles in thanks.

Together, they push the mattress forward, moving it to the side and out of the way, revealing a hidden hatch that was under it.

"Floor door?" AJ questions, tilting his head at the sight.

"Maybe this is where they kept their food," (Y/N) suggests, kneeling besides it. "Why else would it be hidden?"

Clement stands behind her, looking down at the hatch with narrowed eyes as she starts to pull it open. Once it was opened fully, they could see inside.

"That's... A lot of stuff!" AJ breathes out, blinking rapidly.

"No kidding," (Y/N) says in awe, looking inside with a grin.

"We could eat for weeks with this much," Clement smiles in relief, shaking his head.

Inside the cellar were dozens of jars of food, only a small amount gone. The sound of a wire snapping could be heard, a grenade rolling out, and the pin pulled.

(Y/N)'s face falls, her eyes widening as she gasps. "AJ, run!"

Clement's face hardens, "it's rigged!"

(Y/N) quickly slams the hatch door down as AJ turns and rushes out, Clement grabbing (Y/N)'s arm as they start running out as well. He wraps his arms around her as the grenade goes off, the shockwave of the blast sending them to the ground as their ears ring.

"Oh, God... (Y/N)!" Clement exclaims fearfully, quickly sitting up with her.

"I'm fine-- where's AJ?" she reassures, quickly looking around.

"Here!" AJ rushes over, throwing his arms around her and Clement.

Clement sighs in relief, wrapping his arms around the two and holding the close. (Y/N)'s shoulders tense as she gasps, her head snapping towards the window.

She moves out of Clement's grip, AJ and Clement watching her with confusion and concern as she rushes towards the window.

(Y/N) peers outside carefully, her face falling in horror. "Shit, shit! We have to go, now! Walkers got drawn in from the blast!"

Outside, emerging from the forest, a large mass of walkers were making their way towards the station, their snarls ringing out like thunder.

"Monsters!" AJ whispers with wide eyes as he and Clement join her, looking out the window.

...

Clement swiftly kicks the door to the station down, waving (Y/N) and AJ out first.

She skids to a stop, holding AJ's shoulders as she looks around frantically. More walkers were appearing on all sides of them, getting closer and closer.

"Oh, shoot!" AJ shakes his head, his brows furrowing as his eyes narrow.

"We need to get back to the car," Clement firmly speaks, a hint of urgency in his voice. "Come on!"

(Y/N) stays behind AJ as they run after Clement, Clement coming to a stop as a handful of walkers block the path to the car.

"You remember what to do," (Y/N) tells AJ, making him nod as she takes out her machete.

"Stick to the side, and be your eyes," AJ responds, turning and rushing behind cover by one of the trains.

Clement takes out his hunting knife, walking at (Y/N)'s side as they approach the walkers. She rushes forward, tripping the first one for him to take care of as she runs to another. Clement runs up to the fallen walker, slamming his boot down on its skull and crushing it as he grunts.

"Over here!" AJ creates noise behind a metal sheet to distract the third one, shoving the metal sheet over and pressing his weight against the walker and pinning it.

(Y/N) kicks the knee of the walker she was facing, bringing her machete upwards and stabbing through under its chin and through the top of its head. She turns to the one AJ had pinned, twirling her machete so its blade faced down and stabbing through the back of its head, killing it as Clement runs over.

"Let's get to the car!" he shouts, looking back as dozens upon dozens of walkers start to follow them.

(Y/N) takes the lead, holding AJ's hand in hers as Clement follows closely behind. A walker staggers over to the barred barricade, (Y/N) yelping and dodging left with AJ as Clement stabs his knife through the walker's face.

AJ runs to the driver's side door, leaping inside and crawling into the backseat as (Y/N) runs around, kicking a walker down before quickly getting into the passenger side. She holds her hands out as Clement shrugs his bag off, tossing it to her along with his knife. She catches the handle of it, Clement sliding into the car.

As he goes to close the door, a walker reaches in, the door slamming against its hand and stopping it from closing as Clement gasps.

Keys in his hand, he uses them, jamming them into the walker's face. They were too short to kill it, and the walker grabs his arm with its hands as it roars.

"Clem--!" (Y/N) shouts fearfully, moving to open her car door to help.

A walker slams against her window, making her yelp and shake her head with wide eyes. Clement grunts as he kicks his car door open, the force knocking the walker off the door and to the ground.

He swiftly reaches out, slamming the door shut as walkers start to surround the car.

"Keys?!" (Y/N) questions, looking around quickly.

Clement points forward silently, (Y/N) turning and her face falling as a walker rises, the keys jammed in its eye. Clement grabs the stick of the car, shifting the gear from park to neutral and releasing the brake.

Their car starts to slowly roll forward, lightly hitting the walker with the keys as it falls onto the hood. A window shattering makes them look back with wide eyes, a walker broken through the back window.

"AJ, up front!" (Y/N) shouts as she sheathes her machete behind her, AJ obeying quickly as he climbs into the front seat and into her lap. "Clem, here! I can't swing my weapon with AJ right here!"

Clement takes the knife handle in his right hand, the walker slowly crawling into the car towards the front with snarls. The passenger side window shatters as a walker slams against it, (Y/N) yelping in alarm as she holds AJ protectively.

The walker grabs her arm as Clement reaches over with a shout, piercing through its forehead with the blade of the hunting knife. (Y/N) shoves the body out of the car, AJ breathing heavily with wide eyes.

AJ lets out a fearful yell as the walker crawls to the front, grabbing Clement's face as he grunts and fights it off. AJ quickly stabs through its cheek with his switchblade, stunning it for a moment. Clement gets his bearings, shaking his head out before turning back and stabbing through the back of the walker's head.

"Clem!" (Y/N) yells out, making him look forward and gasp.

The car was heading right towards a tree, Clement turning the steering wheel too late as they crash into it. The walker with the key in its eye was lurched forward, closer towards the windshield as it was pinned between the tree and the car.

"The keys!" AJ points to the walker.

(Y/N) looks around with narrowed eyes as more walkers start to surround them, Clement shifting his seat back to give him more room. He raises his foot upwards, shouting as he slams his boot against the windshield.

It cracks, Clement doing this one more time and shattering the glass. He climbs up towards the walker and onto the hood, snatching the keys from its eye and yanking them out as blood rushes down the walker's face.

He quickly backs up and sits in his seat, inserting the keys and turning them. The car's engine struggles for a moment, eventually roaring to life just as the walkers start reaching the car.

"Buckle up!" Clement yells over the walker roars, clicking on his own seatbelt.

(Y/N) stretches out the seatbelt, hooking it over her and AJ before clicking it securely into place. Clement shifts gears into reverse, slamming his foot on the pedal as the car lurches backwards, running down a handful of walkers.

He shifts the gear to drive, slamming his foot on the gas just as a walker breaks through his car window. Clement yells in alarm, pressing his left hand against the walker's forehead and holding it back, his foot pressing firmly on the gas as he unintentionally turns the wheel to the right.

AJ takes out his gun, aiming as they wobble around from the car's jerked motions. Shaking his head, he decides against it, not wanting to shoot and hit Clement.

"Clement--!" (Y/N) screams out, gasping when the car drives straight for a large, jagged boulder.

Clement's eyes widen as he swiftly unbuckles his seatbelt, lunging towards (Y/N) and AJ and wrapping his arms around them.

The car hits the boulder head-on at full speed, making it fly upwards and spin around multiple times as it falls down the hill.

...

Clement slowly opens his eyes, his ears ringing violently and his vision disoriented. Their car was flipped upside down, walkers coming in from all directions.

A walker was suddenly shot down by an arrow, followed by another walker, and another.

His breathing picks up as he blinks harshly, quickly looking around for (Y/N) and AJ. His arms were still loosely around her, his strength gone as his vision starts to blur. AJ was safe in (Y/N)'s embrace, his eyes shut and mouth parted.

A figure reaches in, scooping AJ into their arms and handing him to another person. They kneel back down, grabbing (Y/N)'s unconscious form and slowly dragging her away from Clement.

"No...! Please!" Clement begs, breathing heavily as he weakly reaches for her.

The last thing he saw was (Y/N)'s closed-eye expression, and blood dripping down the side of her temple as he blacked out.
