Chapter Two:
Origin: Y/n L/n, The Flower Hashira
Part Two: Where It All Falls...Don't Let Them Down..!
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
"The breath of flower is a breath style derived from the breath of water. It mostly focuses on upper body movement, while the lower body movement depends on the user," Kanae explained. Y/n listened carefully, taking mental notes. "As I've heard from your parents, you're extremely fast. Once you master the breath of flower, you can adjust the way you move and maybe create forms of your own. Since the breath of flower can adapt to most fighting styles, it should be really easy for you to use it," Kanae said.
"So, stand up, fix your posture, and give it a try," Kanae urged, smiling at her. She obliged, standing straight and taking deep breaths. "Good. You learn fast. Keep trying. Let's go outside. Try to keep it up and meditate while at it," she suggested. Y/n nodded, exiting the dojo and heading to their manor's garden. She sat down, taking deep breaths as she focused on even the slightest details. "You're doing great, keep going!" Kane exclaimed. "Keep it up. I only have a month, so I'll teach you forms if you could keep that up for one hour,"
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
"I'd like to teach you something, so watch closely," Tanjuro said calmly. Y/n watched intently as Tanjuro and the wolf stood their ground. The wolf growled, then jumped at him. He raised his frail arms, swinging at the wolf's neck. Y/n's eyes widened as the wolf's head fell along with its body.
'A rusty, old hatchet. He used a rusty, old hatchet. There's no way he could decapitate a wolf using that hatchet with just one swing. And his joints made more than one movement. He swung twice from different directions.' Y/n noted.
She gripped the hatchet he had lent her. "How..?" She asked. "Focus on your breaths and release your maximum strength with minimal movements. Find the movements and sensations. Utilize your five senses and become aware of your entire body down to the tiniest vessel ," he said. Not long after, the rest of the wolves came out. Y/n's breathing hitched, looking at the wolf which was staring directly at her. "The Alpha of the pack..." She muttered. The said wolf howled, two other wolves immediately jumping at them.
Y/n inhaled, squinting her eyes. Everything slowed down in her view. She pulled it off. She drew her arms back and swung, hitting the wolf's neck. She withdrew her arms, immediately going in for another strike. As the metal collided with the wolf's neck, the blade of the hatchet had completely cut through its neck. "Good. You're getting there. Try again," he said.
The Alpha and the remaining wolf jumped at them. Y/n repeated her actions, squinting her eyes and drawing her arms back. She took a deep breath, focusing the air into her arms. This time, she swung faster, decapitating the wolf as it reached her range. She exhaled, bringing her arms down. "Good. Now that that's clear, let's get you home,"
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
"I smell blood..." She trailed. She made a break for it, running as fast as her legs could take her. "Y/n, wait!" Nanika called. Not a minute later, she arrived in front of her house. Her eyes darted to her side, where their shed stood. She hurriedly went to grab something she could use to protect herself.
She hurriedly grabbed the closest gardening tool, which was a sickle. she ran to their door, gripping the handle. "Y/n!" Nanika called. "Quiet down," Y/n demanded. When Nanika stopped next to Y/n, she began to gasp for air. "Nanika, when I open this door, I want you to run, " Y/n said sternly. "What? Why?" Nanika asked. "Just do as I say," Y/n said. She reached into the boots she was wearing, grabbing a pocket knife.
"Where did you get that?" Nanika questioned. "I don't have time to explain. Just run when I open this door, " Y/n said. She slid the door open, revealing a horrifying sight. Her unarmed hand clasped itself over Nanika's mouth to prevent her from screaming. Her heart pounded against her chest, her ears began to ring, her legs began to shake, sweat ran down her temples as she took a deep breath.
A demon was right in front of them. Eating from her parents' corpse. She removed her hand from Nanika's mouth, using it to grab the knife. She drew her hand back, then threw the knife. The demon screeched as the knife embedded itself straight through its head. "Run! Go call for help or something!" Y/n exclaimed as the demon looked at them from over its shoulder.
"I can't just leave you here!" Nanika argued. The demon jumped at Nanika, making her freeze. Y/n pushed Nanika back, swinging the sickle at the demon. The demon tackled her to the ground as Y/n used the sickle to prevent it from biting her. "JUST RUN!" She exclaimed. Nanika gulped, then began running, screaming for help.
Y/n groaned, using her feet to push the demon back. She immediately ran deeper into her house, running for her dojo. The demon ran after her, catching up to her almost immediately. It jumped at her from the side, which caused Y/n's reflexes to kick in. She swung at the demon three times, each strike hitting the same spot on its neck. Its head slipped off its body, landing with a thud. Y/n kicked the head away, running as the body attempted to go find its head.
She eventually reached the dojo, running in to grab her sword. She threw the sickle to the side, grabbing her still sheathed sword. She unsheathed her sword, gripping it tightly with her dominant hand. She turned around, seeing the demon by the door. It jumped at her, its claws slashing at her. Y/n pivoted her foot to the side, moving swiftly as she dodged the demon and cut off both its arms and its head.
She exhaled, then ran deeper into her house. 'Three scents, but there are only two demons here. The third demon isn't here anymore.' Y/n noted. She skidded to a stop when she found her older brother's body on the floor. He was still breathing, just barely. "Onii-sama!" Y/n called. She kneeled in front of him, the tears she held back flowing like an endless waterfall. "Y/n... The... The others... Hana and the others... They're still here... A demon's chasing them..." Takeshi muttered.
Y/n looked up, seeing the blood scattered around the hallway. "I'm sorry onii-sama..." Y/n muttered. She got up, then began running towards the direction of their scents. Her heart was pounding against her chest. All she could hear was the sound of her heart. She took a deep breath, trying to ease her aching heart. Her eyes widened and her pupils contracted the moment she reached the end of the hallway, a dead end. Her lips quivered and her grip on her sword tightened.
Her eye twitched as the sound of something snapping echoed throughout her ears. The second demon had beat her in finding her siblings. The demon was already hunched over their bodies, eating them. She ran towards the demon, tackling it to the ground. She drew her arms back, preparing to strike. As her sword got dangerously close to the demon, it kicked her off, knocking her through a wall.
She groaned, getting up almost immediately. She held out her sword, glaring at the demon in front of her. The demon charged at her, clawing at her. She pivoted her foot to the side, then turned her whole body. She slashed at the demon, who pivoted its body mid-air, causing her to miss and hit its chest instead. She hissed as the demon's claw hit her arm. The demon landed quietly on its feet, grinning sinisterly at Y/n. 'So this one's smarter and stronger than the other one.' Y/n noted.
She gripped her sword tighter, not minding the scratch mark on her in-dominant arm. "You're fast for a little girl. But speed isn't enough to kill a demon," the demon said, grinning at her. "I know that. I'm not stupid," Y/n muttered. The slash on its chest quickly healed. The demon charged at her, using its claws to try and attack her. She circumvented each attack, paying close attention to their circumstances.
She ducked, dodging another attack. 'There's a pattern in his assaults. He aims for the side of my head with a fist, then the bottom of my chin with his foot.' Y/n noted, pivoting her body backward, doing a backflip as she dodged the demons foot. 'He then goes for a punch to my stomach.' Y/n noted, jumping back to dodge his attack. 'A slash to my face and arm.' Y/n noted, dodging both attacks. 'Then one last kick to my side before repeating the cycle.' Y/n noted, dodging his attack. She repeatedly dodged his attacks, looking for the opening. 'There it is. He lowers his fists whenever he goes for a kick.' Y/n noted. She took a deep breath, then gripped the tsuka of her sword tighter.
"Total concentration; breath of flower," Y/n chanted, dodging a punch. "Fourth form: Crimson Hanagoromo," Y/n chanted slashing at the demon's neck. She hissed as the demon forced itself to deliver one last attack, slashing at Y/n's back. Its head fell to the ground with a thud. 'I got slashed?! By this kid?! Impossible! She must have cheated!' The demon said to itself as his head and body turned into ashes, dissipating into the air. Y/n watched the demon disappear through empty eyes. "You must have cheated! There's no way in hell a kid as frail as you could kill me!" The demon exclaimed.
"Damn you, damn you, damn you!" The demon exclaimed. "Come to think of it, you shouldn't even be holding a sword! A kid such as you shouldn't even exist! Die! Die! Die!" The demon exclaimed. The demon glared into her empty eyes. "Why aren't you saying anything?! Say something, damn it!" The demon exclaimed. Y/n squinted her eyes, her empty eyes immediately turning ice cold. "Go rot in hell," Y/n muttered, watching as the demon disappeared completely.
Y/n's lips quivered as she fell onto her knees, her previously empty eyes filling themselves with emotion. Tears poured from her eyes as she screamed in agony. She continued to let out strained screams as her voice began to hurt. "Gomenasai... Gomenasai..! Okaa-sama... Oto-sama... Onii-sama... Hana... Goro... Masahiko... Haruka... Gomenasai... I'm sorry I wasn't there..." She trailed, her voice cracking as she choked on her own words. She looked at her bloodied hands, then looked at the wall. Using her blood, she began to write something on the wall.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
The following day, numerous townspeople and policemen surrounded the L/n family's manor. Nanika stood there, waiting for the policemen. She stared at the manor through worried and tired eyes. She had spent all night calling for help. Her loud cries eventually woke up the whole town. The one's who woke up immediately called the police, while Nanika went to call the Kamado family. Nanika looked over to her side, seeing Tanjiro pacing back and forth, his fists clenched tightly.
Nanika perked up when a policeman walked out. "Shira Nanika and Kamado Tanjiro?" The man called. The two raised their hands. "Are you L/n Y/n's friends?" The man asked. They nodded. The policeman glanced around, looking at them and their families. "The two of you, please follow me," the policeman said. They nodded, then followed the man.
They silently walked through the halls. Sweat formed on their temples as they looked around, seeing the blood. "Were any of you with a/an L/n before this happened?" The man asked. Nanika raised her hand. "I was walking home with Y/n. While we were walking, she started coughing, saying that she smelled blood. She ran ahead of me after that. When I caught up to her, she was already in front of her house, holding a sickle. She was also holding a knife. She told me that once she opened the door, I had to run. When she opened the door, we saw something eating her parents. She threw the knife at it. It turned around and tried to attack me, but Y/n pushed me away, so she was the one that got tackled. I didn't know what happened after that since she asked me to run and call for help..." Nanika said.
"L/n Y/n, the second oldest child in the family. She's only seven, no? She must have been really brave to have fought whatever that was on her own," the policeman said. Tears welled up in Nanika's eyes. "She was always so brave and strong... I didn't want to leave her..." Nanika trailed. "It was probably for the best, but before I show you this, I'd like to apologize first," the policeman said to both Tanjiro and Nanika. "W-what..?" Nanika asked. The man sighed, then slid open a door.
The room was all messy, and there was a hole in one of the four walls. The floor was practically painted with blood. On the wall, there was a message. "Man-eating demons... Two... It was them..." Nanika read aloud. At the end of the writing, the letter "m" looked dragged. "As you can see, it's written with blood, and the "m" was dragged. We've confirmed it to be Y/n's blood. She must've been pulled away after she wrote this. We looked all over the house. We couldn't find her body," the man said.
Silence filled the room. Their breathing became heavy and uneven. "All we found was the sickle and the knife," the policeman said. "No... No..! No! That's impossible!" The two cried out. "Y/n's smart! She wouldn't have asked Nanika to run if she knew that she couldn't handle the situation on her own!" Tanjiro exclaimed. "She can't be dead! We'll prove it! Come on!" Nanika exclaimed.
"Hey! Stop! Get back here!" The police officer exclaimed. The two made a break for it, running in the direction of Y/n's room. They skidded to a stop in front of the familiar door. Tanjiro slid it open, revealing the now messy room. There was a bit of blood, and her things were scattered. Tanjiro's eyes caught her drawer. It was the same drawer she had always kept her scarf and haori in, and it was opened.
He ran over to it, peeking inside. "Look! Her scarf and her haori are gone!" Tanjiro exclaimed. Nanika ran over, looking at the drawer. "You're right! And she wasn't wearing them that night either!" Nanika exclaimed. Nanika looked up, spotting Y/n's shelf. "That bookshelf was always packed to the brim. Look at it now. It's missing several books," Nanika noted. Tanjiro nodded in agreement. "Her bedside table. It's missing a few picture frames," Tanjiro pointed out. "There you are!" The policeman exclaimed.
"See! We told you! She's alive! There are things in her room that are missing! We've been here multiple times already! Only now has anything ever gone missing!" Nanika exclaimed. The policeman sighed, then looked around. His eyes eventually landed on two envelopes. It was on top of Y/n's shelf. He walked over to it, grabbing the envelopes. He examined them, seeing whom they were for. They were bloodied, but the writing was still evident.
"These letters are addressed to the two of you. We'll examine them before we give them to you. For now, please follow me and wait outside," the man said. The two obliged then followed the man outside. As they exited the house, Nanika and Tanjiro went to their families. "Onii-chan! Onii-chan! What happened to Y/n-nee-chan?" Nezuko asked curiously. Tanjiro's breathing hitched. What was he supposed to tell her? He knew for a fact that she was alive, but she wasn't there. After the momentary silence coming from the young Kamado, he decided to speak up.
"Y/n's okay... She's okay... It's just... She's somewhere out there... I don't know what she's doing, or why she left... But I know for sure that she's alright..." Tanjiro trailed, biting his lip. Nezuko pouted. "Will I still be able to see her..?" Nezuko asked. Tanjiro sighed. "I don't know..." He trailed. "Kamado Tanjiro! Shira Nanika!" The policeman from earlier called. Tanjiro perked up. He ran over to the policeman, Nanika doing the same. "Based on the letter, you two were right. She's alive. And she seemed to have killed the ones who killed her family. These two letters are addressed to you. You should read it," the man said. They nodded, taking their respective letters.
"Dear Nanika,
I'm sorry. You shouldn't have seen anything like that. Both of us are still young, but our respective views of the world are different. You were still innocent, while I was not. I'm sorry if what you saw will permanently scar you. I'm sorry to just ask you to run away from something. I only wanted to keep you safe. If you successfully got help and found that bloody mess in the room, I'm sorry. You weren't supposed to see that. It was specifically only for the police. I wanted them to know that there was no one they could arrest. I had dealt with them myself.
Besides, even if they caught them, they would just be in danger. Those things would've eaten them. And they were unkillable unless you use a specific kind of weapon, a weapon that the police do not have access to. Last night will not be the last time you see me. When this is all over, I promise I'll come back. Whenever that may happen, I'll make sure to come back home. So for now, this is goodbye.
With kind regards,
Y/n"
"Dear Tanjiro,
If you wake up the following day and receive this, I'd like you to know, I'm alright. Yes, I left, and I'm sorry for doing so without giving you a proper goodbye. I'm not one to break promises, so as promised, I'll come back to you. Once this is all over, I promise I'll go home. But for now, I'll be out securing my future. If I had told you that in person, you'd probably be scolding me for thinking that far at such a young age. But you know, if I don't act now, I won't have a future. I want to thank you for helping me enjoy my childhood. I will forever reminisce about my memories with you.
If you could wait for me, I promise we'll fulfill that other promise. The one where we would get married once we're old enough. If you could wait a few years after I get home, I'll gladly marry you. I'll miss you all a lot. And if ever you and I meet before I get home, please don't follow the path I took. As much as possible, avoid my path unless truly necessary. As selfish as it sounds, please listen to my request. Now that that's covered, I guess this is goodbye. I'll see you in a few years.
With kind regards,
Y/n"

Her entire body ached as she continued to trudge along the forest she arrived at. Her white kimono was dyed red by the blood that soaked through the bandages wrapped around her wounds. Her breathing was heavy and uneven, her eyes were half-lidded and empty, her stomach grumbled, the bag she was carrying got heavier and heavier, and her feet refused to take her forward without stumbling.
She had been walking for three straight days. Every night, she'd have to kill all the demons she encounters, causing more fatigue to her already sore body. Once morning arrived, she'd continue to walk on and on, attempting to complete her search.
What exactly was she searching for? She wasn't too sure herself. All she knew was that she needed to find someone who could help her. Her tired eyes moved from the ground to the sky. It was already sunset. Y/n groaned. She gripped on tightly to her sword's sheath. Using her dominant hand, she unsheathed her sword.
She continued to walk, a mountain coming into her view. "Four people nearby... Seven demons are in the way..." Y/n trailed. "Maybe they could help me... Even if it's just my injuries..." Y/n trailed. Her empty eyes sharpened into an ice-cold glare. She turned around, slashing at a demon that jumped at her. The demon fell to the ground with a thud, screaming in agony.
Her eyes darted around as she saw four demons, cornering her from each side. She took a deep breath, squinting her eyes. She watched as the demons jumped at her, their movements slowing thanks to her eyes. She jumped back, jumping over the demons behind her. She landed on her feet, not a single sound coming from her.
The four demons crashed into each other, stunning themselves momentarily. Y/n adjusted her grip on her sword, taking a deep breath through gritted teeth. "Total concentration; breath of flower, fifth form: boton of futility," she chanted. Her arm moved quickly as she performed nine consecutive slashes at the demons in front of her, each of her slashes getting stronger as they weaved in on one another.
The severed limbs of all four demons fell to the ground, their bodies burning up into ashes that dissipated into thin air. Her breathing hitched. She turned around, spotting a demon dangerously close. It was about to slash at her. She jumped back, failing to dodge the attack completely as the demon's claws caught her leg. She landed on her stomach, a loud thud echoing throughout the area.
She groaned. Her vision blurred as her bloodloss began to take a toll on her. She shook her head, trying to get rid of her dizziness. She rolled to the side, dodging another attack from the previous demon. She pushed herself up, using her own will to numb the pain in her leg. Her eyes darted to the side, where the last demon was running at her from.
The two demons jumped at her in unison, one aiming for Y/n's face while the other aimed for her torso. She took a deep breath, using all the remaining strength in her legs to jump up. "Total concentration; breath of flower, first form: pure ume slash," she chanted. Ume petals began coating her sword as she jumped up. Y/n squinted her eyes, aiming her slash as she waited for the right time. As the demons stood next to each other, Y/n swung her sword, sending a large airborne strike down towards the two demons.
The slash created a perfect cut through both demons' necks, severing their heads. She fell to the ground with a loud thud, landing on her back. She groaned in pain. The world around her began spinning. The bloodloss was getting worse, considering the wounds she had earlier had reopened. Her whole body felt numb. She couldn't move anymore.
Her eye twitched as she heard footsteps. Her eyes darted to the side, seeing black tabi socks and zoris. She blinked several times, then looked up. It was a man wearing a white cloth covering his head. His face wasn't depictable, for he was wearing a tengu mask. Before Y/n could take note of anything else, her body finally gave in. She closed her eyes, giving in to her fatigue.
•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
"Is she waking up..?"
"I don't know,"
"Look, she's moving,"
She opened her eyes, her instinct immediately telling her to look around. Her e/c eyes met a pair of lavender ones. She looked around more, then met blue and turquoise eyes. "She's awake! Get Urokodaki-sensei!" A boy with peach-colored hair exclaimed. A girl with black hair and turquoise eyes nodded, then walked out.
"Hey, are you okay? How are you feeling? Our sensei said he found you laying on the floor of the forest in front of the house. He brought you in all battered up," the peach-haired boy said. Y/n opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. "Her throat must be sore. Here, drink this," a boy with ebony hair said, handing her a cup of water. Y/n slowly sat up, startling the boys.
"You shouldn't be moving. According to Urokodaki-sensei, you pushed your limits, and your body is extremely fatigued, " the boy with black hair said. Y/n reached for the cup, which the black-haired male responded to by placing it in her hands. "What were you doing out there anyway?" The peach-haired boy asked. "I... Was looking... For someone who could help me..." Y/n squeaked out.
"That doesn't answer our question," the ebony-haired boy retorted. "You had claw marks all over you. If you had actually been searching for help, you would've stopped by that house outside the forest," the boy said. Y/n looked into the boy's piercing blue eyes with a deadpan expression. She looked away, sighing. "I ran away from my old home. My family had been killed by demons," Y/n said. "But if you were from any ordinary family, you wouldn't have these, no?" A voice asked.
It was the man from earlier. He was no longer wearing the cloth around his head, but he was still wearing the tengu mask. He was holding the nichirin sword of Y/n's parents and older brother in one hand, while the other held get own sword. Y/n gritted her teeth. "Give them back. Those are mine," Y/n spat out. "It is impossible for a demon slayer to wield four swords. I saw you using this one earlier," the man said, holding out Y/n's sword. "If this one is yours, then who does this belong to?" The man asked, gesturing to the other swords. "My parents and older brother. They were demon slayers," Y/n said.
The two boys glanced at each other. "If they were demon slayers, how come a demon killed them?" The peach haired boy asked. "It wasn't any ordinary demon. The scent it left was stronger. But the ones I found in my house were different. The one that killed my parents and my older brother was stronger. The two that were there solely to kill off my younger siblings and to clean up by eating what was left," she said through gritted teeth.
"And you saw them getting eaten?" A gentle voice asked. It was the girl that had went to fetch the man. Y/n looked away, nodding. "It must have been hard to have seen them being eaten. It really takes a toll on one's innocence," the girl said. "I was never innocent, to begin with. The moment I had been able to understand my parents' teachings was the moment I had lost my innocence. They told me all about how cruel this world truly is. But my biggest regret would be taking away the innocence of my friend," Y/n said.
"She was with me when I opened the door. She also saw my parents being eaten," Y/n said. "What happened to her?" The peach haired boy asked. "I asked her to run. I didn't have a nichirin sword on me, but I had a sickle to buy myself some time," Y/n said. "So you do have experience. That explains why you chose to fight the demons in the forest instead of running away," the man with the tengu mask said.
"Tell me, do you happen to be L/n Y/n?" The man asked. "How do you know my name?" Y/n demanded. "Recently, the L/n family has become extremely well-known around Japan. They are known for their diligence and wealth. People suspected that the lineage had a secondary job other than what they already had. Recently, a report stated that almost the entire family had been murdered."
"All but one corpse was found. Originally, the speculations were that the missing body was devoured. But after the intervention of a young boy and a young girl, the police have confirmed their speculation to be wrong. With that being said, they submitted a report on the missing member. A young girl with e/c eyes and h/c hair. Her name is L/n Y/n, and she is the only survivor of the fall of the L/n family," the man said.
Y/n looked away, nodding. "I saw you fighting in the forest," the man said. "And?" Y/n asked. "I'd like to know if you would join us from now on. But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Urokodaki Sakonji. I am a former demon slayer and former water Hashira. I'm a trainer and the primary cultivator of the said breath style," Urokodaki said. Y/n perked up. "If you join us and pass my tests, I'll permit you to go to the final selection," He said. "I'll do whatever it takes!" Y/n exclaimed.
"That's good. I now officially take you as my student," Urokodaki said. "But Urokodaki-sensei! Isn't she gonna take the test before you accept her?" The peach haired boy asked. "Well, I had already seen her fight, so I'll let her in. Besides, it's part of her training too," he said. "Now, introduce yourselves. I'll go ahead and make dinner," Urokodaki said. "My name is Sabito!" The peach haired boy exclaimed. "Giyu..." The boy with blue eyes trailed. The girl smiled. "Makomo," she said. Y/n nodded, then sat up properly.
"Oh, and Y/n-chan, I believe this belongs to you," Makomo said, having her a bag. "Ah! Thank goodness you guys found it!" Y/n exclaimed, happily taking the bag. She opened it, digging around inside it. The three peered inside the bag curiously. Y/n sighed as she pulled out a small notebook that she had been writing in. "We'll give you time to get used to the place. For now, we'll be outside. We'll tell you when dinner is ready," Makomo said. Y/n nodded, watching as the three of them walked out. She looked at the notebook in her hand with her name.
She reached into her bag, pulling out a brush and ink. She scurried over to the table beside the futon she was laying on. Opening her journal, she passed by all her old entries about her training and her personal life. She had eventually reached an empty page, sighing as she aligned the brush at the top of the parchment.
"Entry number ----,
Just three days ago, my life as a normal, happy child had ended. Okaa-sama had always been so kind to the children on the streets. She felt bad that they didn't have a home to return to, and it pained her to know that she couldn't give them shelter in our home. She would always tell me to help those in need, and I would always watch as she would feed the child and send them somewhere they can live. I never knew how painful it was to live life without one's parents.
May it be they died or they abandoned you, it's hard to take in. I watched in horror as I witnessed my own parents getting eaten alive. It was as if my world fell apart. I felt even worse when I found my siblings. Onii-chan wanted me to go save the others, but the world was too cruel. I wasn't able to save anyone. And I felt sick.
I left home, telling myself that I needed someone who could help me as I mindlessly walked around the vast world. After three straight days of relentless walking, someone finally helped me. Apparently, a man with a tengu mask had found me collapsed on the floor of the forest. His name was Urokodaki Sakonji. He was a cultivator of the breath of water, and he had three students. Sabito, Makomo, and Giyu. After some questioning, they welcomed me with open arms. As I conversed with them, laying on the comfy futon they had given me, I realized that I wasn't searching for someone who could help me.

I was searching for someone who could take care of me and watch me grow."
