Chapter Two
I kicked the ground in frustration and screamed in anger. I sensed another wildfire break out in western USA, but I didn't care anymore. My best friend, my only friend, the only person to ever know of my existence, had been gone for over two years. Two years. That's like, forever in best friend time, even though we were immortal. I whirled and punched a tree, setting it on fire and screaming again. My anger had turned the whole area into a dry wasteland, and the fire spread quickly. My fury rapidly turned into panic as it sunk in that I had started a fire in a forest very close to my hometown of Burgess, Pennsylvania.
And this time, I didn't have Jack to put it out.
I flew up high, not caring if people saw me, and looked around for anyone. I could at least get them out of the forest, even though I couldn't stop the fire. I pulled splinters put of my knuckles from punching the tree and yanked on my black leather gloves. I saw some kids surrounded by a large ring of fire, about to be consumed, and flew down to them, straight through the fire.
"Hey, hey, calm down. Everything is going to be alright." I approached them quickly. "I'll get you out."
"How? We'll all get burned!" A little girl with blond hair cried out.
I didn't waste time with an argument and slung an older boy, about 13 to my 17 years, on my back. I picked up the little girl and told her to hold on tight. I couldn't make the flames not hurt, my control was too far gone, but I could help them escape. I looked around, that was all of them. The kids were both crying for someone- Jack? Maybe an older sibling.
Who cared at the moment. I had started this fire, and I had to save these kids. Smoke inhalation didn't matter with me, but it was a very big deal for the kids. "Cover your mouths and noses with my sweatshirt!" I yelled, then flew straight up, using my staff to get up hundreds of feet above the fire. I brought them to the park and told them to get the fire department. The older kid ran off to the nearest adult and told them what happened. He pointed at me, and I smiled and waved slightly at the elderly woman he was talking to. A moment later, I sensed the little girl was no longer by my side. I heard jingling and the girl's voice saying, "Bunny! Bunny!"
The woman calling the police, the kid turned around and apparently saw someone behind me. He ran past me and yelled, "Jack!"
I turned slowly. The kid was hugging Jack. My Jack. Jack Frost. I flipped up my hood and shoved a hand in my pocket, leaving melted footprints behind me. I held my staff on my shoulder and started walking away, the image too painful to process.
"Hey, mister, you saved us!" The little girl came over and hugged my leg.
I lifted my leg up and shook it a bit, but she wouldn't let go. "Hey, kid, get off me!" I tried to pry her off but she wouldn't let go. "Just because I saved your life, didn't mean we're best friends." I shook my leg again and started hopping in circles, spinning, trying to get her off. She had an iron grip. "Kid, I said get off me!" I yelled loudly. I put my leg on the ground and she let go. "Thank you."
I started walking away again only to be tackle-hugged by the bigger kid. He was a little smaller than me, but not much. I was pretty small for my age. I was knocked forward into the snow, and the air was filled with hissing, sizzling, and crackling sounds. "Would you people quit hugging me!" I yelled, my voice like gravel. I climbed out of the snow and my wrist was exposed for a moment.
The kid's hand touched my skin and he yelled in pain.
"That's why I don't want you touching me. Go tell your best friend Jack Frost to put some ice on it," I said harshly, yanking him to his feet and pushing him back over to Jack.
I stuck my hand back in my pocket and walked into the woods, although not very far, my head hanging. Even covered up, I was still a threat to people. That was why I didn't like interacting with mortals, I only hurt them. I yelled in anger and punched a tree, leaving scorch marks in it. "Argh, STUPID TREE!" I bellowed. I roundhouse kicked it and it fell over. I grinned at it. The snow around me started melting, and I screamed in anger, my hood falling back and revealing my hair, which was on fire, flames flickering through it, and my gloves burned off. I roared, and flames shot out of my mouth like a dragon, burning several trees. My whole body burst into flames, flickering tongues of heat licking up my body, and my eyes blazed with a white-hot intensity. The whole area became hot and summery, the grass dying and the trees starting to blacken. I was about to blast the tree with fire again when arms wrapped around me from behind, pinning my arms to my sides so I couldn't move. I screamed at the top of my lungs and the fire on my body became worse, my hair growing hotter. The person holding me back yelled in pain but refused to let go. I let my knees buckle and I slipped out of their grasp, turning to face them.
It was Jack, and he was covered in third degree burns, his hair smoldering. He looked furious. "What the heck, Summers? Why'd you do that?"
He was angry at me? "Whoa, back the fuck up. You are angry at me? No. That's not how it fucking works. You want to be mad at me? You think I would be sorry for whatever shit you say I've done? No. Fuck off. I'm done with you. We are not friends anymore. You come near me again, and I'll burn you to ash. Fuck you, dude. I'm never talking to you again." I kicked him in the shin, and when he tried to grab my arm I shook him off. "You are not my friend anymore, get that through your thick skull. No more snow and fireball fights where it only tickles. You abandoned me two years ago, and now, it's payback time, motherfucker. Have fun creating the four seasons by yourself, or better yet, competing over them with me, because I'm done cooperating with a bastard like you." I lit my body on fire and he writhed, practically melting. I stalked away, fuming, setting more and more of the forest on fire as my hair touched small branches.

Okay, update!
Just a warning, chapters 14 and 15 are both dreams.
Just for clarification.
I honestly love this story, I just have really bad writers block for all of my stories. I will definitely be publishing this more often, since I have about 10 chapters ready for publishing.
This story will probably receive the most updates, seeing as I have the least amount of difficulty with the planning and storyline.
Hope you liked the chapter! (This story will get much more bloody and violent, so if you don't like blood and cursing/cussing, don't read this story!)
Toodles my noodles!
