Chapter 1 Who is she?

~Unknown POV~

"So~" I dragged out while twisting my chair, "who did you try to bring back?"

He spat out his drink while I giggled, "what kind of question is that." He growled at me.

"A serious one, I mean you did commit the taboo human transmutation, right?" I looked at him, well not really but to me if felt that way.

"Well yeah but-" I cut him off.

"So who did you try to bring back?"

"How the hell do you know all this?" He growled while glaring at me, but he stopped the glaring when he remembered I couldn't see it.

"Don't answer a question with a question, however if you answer my question I'll answer yours." I stated as if it was the most obvious thing.

"I-Well-Why do you want to know?" He said as I believe he glared at me again.

"You should really stop glaring at me and because I'm curious, I also know you want the answer to your question so I know you'll answer it because eventually you'll figure out that I won't answer any of your questions until you answer mine, so I'll just wait." I smiled at him and he just stared at me dumbfounded.

"Fine, it was-It was ... our mother, now you answer our questions!" He practically yelled, and I couldn't tell if he had said it really loud or if he was just extremely close. But either way I had to cover my ears.

"Okay, either move away if you've come closer or quiet down cause you have one hell of a voice." I heard a slight shuffle back. "So what do you want me to answer?"

"How did you know what we had done?" He asked sternly.

"Because Um, I've read about it in books and that seemed to be the only explanation for your brothers missing body." I smiled at him before whispering "I know what truth can take away and that seemed to be the only explanation for your brother." I said it as calmly as I could even though it brought back horrible memories to flash through my mind, the blood, the death... The loss.

"Wait, did you say truth?" He asked, and I could hear in his voice that he was on the brink of breaking, both in anger and in sadness.

"Uh um, I read about truth in a book as well it was said that was what this strange being at your alchemy gate was called." I tried to hide the trickle of moisture falling down my cheek so I pulled my bangs further over my eyes as I remembered my mistakes. I tried not to show them I was lying about how I know truth but I can't tell them, they might understand but I still can't tell anyone, I never have told anyone.

"Do you think you could please show us this book, we have never read it and it might help us." The younger brother asked.

"Alphonse, I've never even heard of someone surviving and writing it down." Edward whispered to his brother.

"But that doesn't mean nobody did brother." Alphonse whispered almost angrily to Edward.

"Look I'm really sorry but I-um-I can't show you the book I don't know where it is." I said rather quickly hoping that they would believe me.

"How can you not remember where it is?" Edward asked me suspiciously.

"I-um-I borrowed it out of a library well I was traveling and I can't remember where it was that I found it." Edward looked over to me but didn't seem to think much more of it.

"So how could you tell who I was?" He asked curiously and scooted closer.

"If your going to move closer you better not scream again." I giggled as he moved back again, "and I could tell because the state alchemist watch was dangling from your pocket not his, your far too young too be any other alchemist but Fullmetal and I knew that your younger brother traveled with you." I stopped for a while as they appeared to be in deep thought but I couldn't wait any longer to ask my question so I asked while they were still thinking. "So~. What does 3rd-October-10 stand for." My question caused him to spit out his drink again.

"How the he-"

"The vibrations given off by your watch are louder in different spots signifying a carving and the larger vibrations give off the image of 'don't forget 3rd-October-10' so I was wondering what it stands for."

His brother turned to him, "why do you have the date we burned down our house in your watch?"

It was my turn to spit out my drink in shock, "your burned down your house?"

"So that I didn't forget that I had no where to go back to and I had to keep moving and to answer your question, yes we did, it was so we had nowhere to go back to. . . Why the hell am I telling you all this?" He screamed as he threw his head in his hands.

"Because for some odd reason you trust me." I smiled at him.

"How the hell can I trust you? I don't even know your name,"

"Well for one you can calm down and for two my name is Kristina but you can call me Kristy."

"Kristy huh, well knowing your name certainly boosts up my trust for you." He replied sarcastically.

"When You get that stick out of your ass come talk to me." I smiled as I heard his brother snicker and him just mumble about him not having a stick up his butt. "Well until you start to act nicer I'll assume you have a stick up your ass." I said as I smiled, his brothers snicker turned into a laugh, "well at least someone can take a joke." I smiled at his brother.

"For someone who has no sight your pretty happy." He whispered under his breath. My smile faded.

"Warning for in the future, you would be amazed at how much pain someone can hide behind a laugh." I said quietly but loud enough so they could hear as I walked out of the bar, leaving the money beside my unfinished drink.

"Wait that's not what I meant." He screamed out to me as I walked away.

~Alphonse's POV~

"Good going brother, when are you going to stop being such a jerk to people?" I sighed as I saw the girl who I assumed would be about 16 walking away at a fairly fast pace.

"I didn't mean to, I didn't think she would hear me." He yelled defensively.

"She was blind, she could tell I was hollow and where my blood seal was just by flicking me and could hear you any other time you whispered, why did you think that would me any different?" He was about to answer but I cut him off, "you just don't think sometimes brother." I sighed again as I walked off to find this girl and left a my stunned brother behind waiting for some sense to knock into that head of his and for him to start following me.

I found her in the crowd fairly quickly, partially because of my height so I could see above all of the other people, and also because of her odd wardrobe choice. I snickered to myself as I saw her long jeans tucked into her bright orange combat boots, her turquoise singlet that finished just above her belly button but with a black long-sleeved shirt underneath it, and her midnight and sunset hair in pigtails going just above her knees.

"Kristy!" I yelled after her, hoping she would be able to hear over the loud noise of other people, she turned around and I mentally smiled when I realised she heard me, that was until I saw the tears falling down her cheeks. "Stupid brother." I murmured to myself.

I ran up to her, "hey, Alphonse isn't it?" She asked after she quickly wiped her tears away probably hoping I hadn't seen.

"Yeah, it is." I mentally smiled at her, but then my smile dropped as I remembered why I was running after her in the first place. "I'm really sorry about brother he-" but before I could finish she cut me off.

"Yeah, I know he didn't mean it, but I would rather hear him say that rather than his brother be the mature one when he's older. By the way stop being a baby and come out from behind him." I gasped as I heard my brother come out from behind me I was about to ask how she knew but then I thought that she must have either heard or felt the vibrations. I was starting to think that it would be cool to be able to see more even though you can see, but then I thought out would be horrible to not be able to see the face of your loved ones. I wonder if she is traveling alone or with family. I was suddenly pulled from my thoughts.

"Al? Al come out of wonderland already." My brother yelled at me while tapping my stomach.

"Oh sorry brother." I said as I put my head down.

"You should stop saying sorry when you have nothing to be sorry for Alphonse." Kristy smiled at me.

"Sorry Kristy." She looked at me funny and I realised what I had said, "sor-On second thought I'll just be quiet." I sighed, she gave me a really sad look and I wondered how she always understood how we felt, and why she didn't seem shocked when she found out I was hollow.

"Al, what do you keep thinking, you seem to be going into wonderland every 5minutes."

"I don't know, just thinking." I looked over at Kristy again. She made it seem like she has been though a tough life. I though as I remember what she said as she left the bar. 'You would be amazed at how much pain someone can hide behind a laugh.' Shes very similar to brother to have been able to go through such an ordeal and still be able to smile, I wonder what she has been though. I thought to myself as I saw her smile on her face, but then I realised while looking at it . . . How fake it was.
