The Summoning

I mind-bellowed to the flustered stars: 

Where are you         God? 

You         coward. 

Come  

    down 

here         right

                now. 

It is time you were brought to 

account.

It seemed for a moment 

that a breath was siphoned back  

a reverse-choke-gasp.         Then 

wind doodled again 

stars returned to twinkling nonentity. 

What did you expect? 

Idiot! 

I turned to return indoors. 

Bloody waste of time  

as per normal - 

I ground the thought between 

perished molars. 

As I clumped my fury diagonally 

to door, I registered a sound. 

Well, not a sound  

exactly 

more the sense of a sound 

a ghostly whisper a         shushing. 

I slow-rotated. 

Diabolical laughter welled in me 

but I bit it back, ahem, manfully. 

Oh King of Clichés, I smirked internally 

are you going to  

hosanna-down your 

Jacob's ladder? You've got to be  

kidding me. 

Fast as my scorn storm-formed, it dissipated. 

I had not looked (ha ha ha)  

for looking. 

For it was not a comic-cosmic ladder  

that hushed down 

but the rungs of a great wheel 

a web  

that net-descended. 

Shit! 

What have you done, now? 

Doubly-inspired idiot! 

The web's edge veiled-down-diaphanous  

then a voice
