Many nights when he slept Sam would have horrible nightmares, he would wake drenched in sweat and his heart rate way over normal. So many things were going on inside his mind but he knew that he had to stay strong for his mom.

At school the kids would make fun of him, calling him names, pushing him around, beating him up. On the inside Sam was being tore apart piece by piece, but on the outside he pretended that none of it phased him.

Sam made so many attempts to stick up for himself, although it never worked out the way he planned it in his head. They always outnumbered him and waited till there were dozens of people watching to humiliate him. He wanted to let the tears escape his eyes but instead he would just smile and go on his way.

Everyday thoughts would float around in his mind about how things would never be the same, change is something that Sam would usually embrace and not fear, although this particular sudden change in his life felt more difficult than anything he had ever been through.

The day he saw his mom cry his life changed forever, Sam knew his mom was in pain but he couldn't do anything to help her which broke his heart in a million pieces. Even though she never showed much emotion around him, he could still sense when something was wrong.

So much had happened and was still happening often at times Sam wondered to himself how was he still carrying on, where could this strength be coming from when his heart is filled with agony.

He dreaded the long days and the long weeks and the long months but he knew it would all be worth the fight once it was all over. The abundance of tragic events which Sam had been through scarred him for life, things that he could never ever forget. Somehow he was able to store them in the back of his mind long enough to make it through the day, then at night the flashbacks would kick in again.

One day Sam woke up and heard his mom saying that they were going back to check on their old house. When Sam heard this a bit of joy came over him because he would get to revisit his past once again before he officially put it to rest.
