Daniel's P.O.V.

My heart is beating out of my chest as I walk towards the door. It is as if my heart beats are as loud as a firecracker, gaining a higher volume with every step I take. My hand touches the door knob but slips off from the sweat building up on it. I wipe it off and open the door to reveal a smiling Mrs. Brown ready to discuss what to do with her students.

"Hello Daniel," she says hugging me. I feel bad that she has cancer. Despite this though, she is still smiling and I admire that.
"Hello Mrs. Brown, how are you doing?" I ask her sounding sincere. I am honestly concerned for her because I do care about her.
"I am great Daniel thank you for asking. How is the subbing going?" She asks me pulling away from the hug and walking in.
"It is going great. Your students are truly amazing," I say. And honestly I am only refering to Joey. Most of her students are idiots but I can't tell her that.
"I am glad to hear that. So, who's car is that out in your driveway? Is that your special someone? Is he home?" She says smiling and winking at me. My stomach twists into a knot as I remember that Joey's car is out there.
"It is my boyfriend's. He just went out with his mom and she drove so his car is still here. You will have to meet him. He's a keeper," I say blushing. I haven't really talked to anyone else about Joey. Well, that is because I don't have anyone other than Joey.

Anyways, the whole time I fear her figuring out that Joey is upstairs. But I push my fears aside while we finish the meeting. I couldn't really pay attention the whole time she was talking. Luckily she had it already written on a piece of paper for me. Once we finish we say our goodbyes and I walk her to the door. She gets in her car and I wave as she drives off. I shut the door and lock it. I then proceed to let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding.

That was a close one...
