Through The Week
Jimmy's Journal-
October 15- Friday
Alright, alright, I know I said I didn't like Scott but how can you not fall for him?!
He's nice, really funny, smart, super talented at art, and plus he's gay!
Right up my alley.
The only problem is that he likes someone else.
Yeah.
Scott talks about him a lot.
I think his name is... Owen?
I'm not sure, I've never heard of him.
He's in our grade I just have zero classes with him.
And even though I have no classes with him, I know all about him.
His favorite color is orange, his favorite animal are llamas, and Scott's pretty sure he's gay.
I don't know, though; like I said, I have no classes with him.
Grian has one class with him while Pix has four.
"I've never spoken to him before. He's kind of like the class clown. Always wants the spotlight." Pix said.
"He's in my PE class. I know he hangs out with Shelby, but that's it." Grian had told me.
"That's probably how Scott met him." I trailed off.
"You do like him!" Grian said, smiling.
"Of course, I like him." I said, staring over at his table, "How can you not?"
Oli laughed, "I can come up with many reasons."
I shot Oli a look and he laughed.
Oli started sitting with us now.
Ever since the scholar bowl meeting earlier this week.
I don't know what happened there, but Pix seems to enjoy Oli's company.
He's nice, just...different.
He seems the same as me.
As in, failing in most classes.
But he is good musically.
He went to chess club with Pix, and they seemed to have had a fun time.
Oli doesn't seem like the kind of guy who's into chess, but he joined anyway.
I think he likes Pix and that's why he's joining all these clubs.
I think that's why he went to scholar bowl.
And Grian keeps looking over at this guy named Mumbo who he apparently got along with at scholar bowl.
I think Grian wants Mumbo to sit with us but whenever I ask him about it, he shakes his head furiously and says that he doesn't like him.
I guess everyone's been dealing with their feelings which are absolute shit.
Grian seems to like Mumbo while Pix and Oli both like each other.
And I like Scott while he likes Owen.
I think I've seen Owen around.
He has brown, fluffy hair and an orange hoodie.
There's no pattern on it, it's just plain orange.
I haven't spoken to him, but he seems nice.
Oli said that he's in his theatre class.
Owen, apparently, always seems to get the lead roles and is always talking out.
He's very extroverted, I'm surprised I haven't heard of him.
You know, it's funny.
I am a bit hurt at the fact that Scott likes someone else, but at the same time,
I want Scott to be happy.
And if that means being with Owen.
Then so be it.
Scott's Perspective-
Scott walked down the bus aisle and sat down near the back.
He took out his phone and stared at Owen's number.
I got his number. I got his number. Scott kept telling himself.
He was practically jumping by how happy he was about getting his crush's number.
I mean, he didn't really have to do much to get it.
They got paired up for a project in history and Owen said that they should exchange numbers, making Scott's heart flutter.
I can't believe it. He asked for my number!
Scott then shook his head.
It's for the project.
He stared at Owen's number for a minute before texting his good friend, Jimmy.
'Jimmy, you will not believe what happened'
Scott texted Jim.
Jimmy replied almost immediately.
'What??'
'I got Owen's number!'
Scott smiled as he sent it.
The three dots appeared and then disappeared for a minute before reappearing again.
'Cool!'
Scott's smile faded a bit.
What was Jim going to say before?
"Hey Scott."
Scott looked up and scooted over so his friend could sit down next to him.
"Hey Lilith."
Lilith was an 8th grader who had brown, shoulder length hair.
She wore lavender colored glasses, a silver butterfly hairpin and a black jacket that had a famous violin player on it (which apparently was her celebrity crush).
Lilith was nice and funny, but she was very bad at giving advice. She's also the strongest person Scott knows.
And I don't mean that metaphorically.
She could probably punch someone and make them end up in the emergency room.
Scott smiled at her, and she smiled back.
"Who're you texting?" She asked, grabbing a piece of watermelon flavored gum.
The bus started moving and Scott hid his phone.
"No one."
"Then why are you blushing?"
"I'm not!" Scott shouted and Lilith laughed.
"Fine. Your face did turn red though."
"I'll tell you if you give me a piece." Scott said, holding out his hand.
Lilith rolled her eyes and gave Scott a piece of gum.
"Now what is it?"
"I got my crush's number." Scott mumbled.
"Ey! Good for you!" Lilith smiled, punching him lightly in the shoulder, "His name's Owen, right?"
Scott nodded, "Yep. He asked for my number today."
"Ooo! You think you have a chance?"
"Well... maybe. He asked for it since we're working together on a project."
Lilith's face fell, "Okay, that doesn't prove anything. He probably just wanted your number for the project. But I mean, at least you got it!"
Scott nodded; a bit nervous about what she said.
"Are you gonna ask him out?"
"And risk getting rejected? No way."
Lilith laughed, "I'm with you there. But what about that other kid you're friends with?"
Scott titled his head, confused.
"You know...ugh what was his name? It was...Timmy, I think?"
"Oh! Jimmy?"
Lilith snapped her finger, "Jimmy! Yeah, what about him?"
"What do you mean?"
"What's going on with him?"
"We're just friends."
"But he's gay, isn't he?"
"I think so."
"Then why not try him?"
"Do you not want me to get with Owen?"
"I'm just saying, we know Jim's gay, but we don't know if Owen is. I feel like Jimmy could be someone you would like to date. If I were you, I would go with Jim since I know I might have a chance instead of getting rejected by Owen."
"The rejection odds still stand with Jimmy. Besides, I don't even like him like that! We're just friends."
Lilith shrugged, "I could see it."
"You've never even met Jimmy."
"Yeah, but you talk about him. You've probably told me more about Jimmy than you have Owen."
Scott bit his lip and looked out the window.
"I'm just pointing it out. Maybe you like Jimmy more than you think."
Scott then sighed, "I don't know anymore."
Lilith bumped into him softly, "You'll figure it out."
"I hope." He mumbled.
==========================
Who's excited for some sweet, sweet angst? Just a heads up, the story kind of takes a turn from here. Instead of being kind of chill it goes into the burning hell called mental health. I hope you enjoyed this chapter and expect that angsty chapter tomorrow!
