Jimmy's Perspective-
Two Days Later-
"GET THE FUCK OUT I DON'T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL!"
Jimmy snapped up, causing Norman to jump.
"Sorry buddy." Jimmy said and Norman death stared him before snuggling up again.
Jimmy checked his clock and saw it was around 6:30 am.
"Oh." He said, recognizing who shouted, "It's Lizzie."
Jimmy yawned and turned over in his bed, but he couldn't sleep.
Well, that's a nice way to wake up. He thought as he stretched and got up.
He walked out into the kitchen to get some water before going back and getting dressed when he overheard his parent's conversation.
"I just don't know. She's not going to get up. She's not going to listen to us. She's just... well haven't you ever faced a heartbreak?" His father asked.
"I have, but it's never affected me like it has for her. I mean... River used to be so kind to her."
His mother spotted Jimmy.
"Hey James. Did Elizabeth wake you up?" She asked.
Jimmy nodded and yawned before grabbing a glass and filling it with water.
"You spoke with her the other night, maybe you can today?"
Jimmy shrugged, "I can try."
He put down his glass and walked over to his sister's room.
He opened the door and saw his sister.
She was in a worse state then she was yesterday.
"What do you want?" She demanded.
"You're staying home?" Jimmy asked gently.
"Wow you must be a genius. I thought I was at school."
"Come on Liz. I want to help- "
"You wanted me to be this way." She said, "All of you. You wanted me to be without River."
For the first time in hours, she stood up.
Hair was stuck to her face and her eyes were red but determined.
"Come on." She said, walking out, blinking at the sudden light, "Let's go talk to mom and dad."
Jimmy followed his sister, scared, and when their parents saw her, they smiled.
She didn't smile back though.
"You wanted this. You wished for this moment; I know you did."
"Why would we wish for you to be hurt?" Their father asked, looking concerned.
Lizzie scoffed, "How many times have you been telling me to break up with River? Huh? More than I can count, that's for certain. You wanted me to leave him. Well guess what? You got what you wished for. What was that you always told me mom? Be careful for what you wish for? Yeah. You guys fucked up."
Her parents didn't say anything, they didn't even look mad at the fact she cursed, if anything, they looked hurt.
"You wished for this pain. You wished for my life to fall apart. You wished for me to realize how fucking sad I've been. You wanted me to be broken. Well, congrats." She said bitterly, "You got what you wished for."
"Sweetie, we never wanted you to get hurt- "
"Well too bad! You never realized how happy I used to be with him. How much I loved him. I've never felt this low in my life. You wanted this."
Tears started falling down Lizzie's face as she took a shaky breath,
"You fucked up. And I hate you for it."
She then turned on her heel and walked back to her room.
Jimmy's mother then sighed and sank into the dining room chair, hiding her face in her hands.
Jimmy stood, terribly troubled by what his sister had just said.
He then blinked a couple of times and nodded, "A-alright. I'm gonna get ready for school."
-
"Are you okay?" Scott asked Jimmy in ELA.
"Yep." Jimmy said, writing down the notes on the board.
"Are you sure?"
"Yep."
Scott looked concerned, "Er- did something hap- "
"Nope."
"...is it me?"
"No... it's just...family stuff."
"Oh...can I help?"
"I don't think anyone can." Jimmy sighed.
"What happened? Or can you not tell me."
"No, it's fine. It's just my sister's boyfriend broke up with her and...it's a long story."
"Hm." Scott hummed, nodding, "Is she okay?"
"Not at all." Jimmy said, "It's just a lot of shouting, crying, and...well I've never seen her like this. She caused my parents to cry and she caused me to feel terrible and she's hit rock bottom. I don't think she'll ever get better."
"Why did your parents cry?"
"She shouted at them. We wanted her to break up with her boyfriend and then he broke up with her. It wasn't a good relationship they were in, but they used to be really happy together. She used to love him. And now that's gone."
"When did this happen?"
"Around three days ago."
"Jesus."
"Tell me about it."
"I wish I could help you."
"Thanks, but I'm sure my friend's will help me later."
"Aren't we friends?"
"Well...yeah, I just meant my friends at lunch."
"Oh...I'm sitting with Owen today."
Jimmy's sadness got replaced with jealousy.
"Are you?" He asked, trying to contain his anger.
"Yeah, he asked if we could sit with each other. I think he wants to work on the project, but still! Maybe he does like me." Scott said,
resting his head on his hand and looking dreamily out the window.
Maybe he does like you.
"But I am sorry about your sister." Scott said, looking back at Jimmy.
"Scott! James! Enough chit chat, get these notes down!"
Scott and Jimmy jumped at being called on by Mr. Brinson and started writing everything down.
Lizzie's Perspective-
Lizzie scrolled through her phone, deleting almost every photo she had.
I never realized how many photos I had with a bitch.
She selected around 80 photos of her with River or just River.
She deleted all of them and then smiled a sick, depressed smile.
Her heart was still broken, but at least she got rid of the things that made it even worse.
Finally, she deleted River's contact.
As she looked in her messages, she saw around 50 messages from Joel.
She had muted everyone, so it never notified her.
All the messages were the same.
'Are you okay?'
'Do you need to talk?'
'I'm here for you'
'I can listen if you need me too'
And then he started to go off about how much of a bitch River was.
Lizzie slowly started to smile but then frowned when she saw that the last message was Joel telling her that he'd give her space and not bother her.
Oh shit now he thinks I'm ignoring him.
Lizzie quickly texted him.
'Hey Joel. Sorry for not responding but it's been really hard.'
Her phone started to turn off but then it lit up again as three dots appeared, Joel was texting her back.
The dots then disappeared, and Lizzie sighed.
Great. I have no friends left, I shouted at my parents, and now Jim's probably going through some shit with Scott.
Her phone then started ringing, making her jump.
It was Joel.
"Er- hello?" Lizzie asked.
"Hey Liz. You alright?"
"Clearly not. My boyfriend just broke up with me, I shouted at my parents, and my brother's going through some shit with his feelings."
Joel hummed, "Do you...wanna talk about it?"
"I don't know where to begin." Lizzie mumbled.
"Well...what happened with your parents?"
"I shouted at them."
"About what?"
Lizzie took a shaky breath, "They always wanted to me to break up with...him, and then he left me. I've never felt this low before. They wanted me to leave him. They wanted me to be like this. Hurt. Broken. They wished for this! I know they did!"
"Liz, no one wishes you pain."
Lizzie scoffed, "They wished for this. They wanted to me to leave him. They never knew how much I loved him. How happy I used to be with him. How he used to love me and make me happy. And now he's gone."
A sob escaped Lizzie's mouth and she started to cry.
"Hey, it's going to be okay- "
"Is it though? I don't think it will. I don't want to go outside. I don't want to get in another relationship. I feel terrible."
"How long have you been in your room?"
"I don't know... I think two or three days."
"Yeah, that's not good. What you need is fresh air."
"Didn't I just tell you I don't wanna go outside?"
Joel sighed but you could hear his smile, "Try and take a shower, once school is over, I can come over and hang out. We can talk but most importantly, get outside."
"But I need to sleep."
"Sleep, take a shower, change clothes, and then get ready to go outside."
"But my room's a mess, I can't walk out of it- "
"Then I'll help you clean it."
Lizzie had a stubborn look on her face and then sighed,
"Fine."
"Good." Joel said happily, "Now I gotta go, the bus is at school. Bye."
"Bye. See you later."
Lizzie hung up and looked around her messy room.
She sighed as she tied her hair into a ponytail and walked over to her dresser, grabbing out a pair of clothes.
She then opened the blinds and let the sunlight fill the room.
Yeesh, this place is a dump.
Lizzie then started grabbing stuff and piles of junk.
She started to get a bit of control of her life.
Eventually, she walked over to her desk.
She started to take down all the photos that she had hanging above it.
Soon, she opened the window to get some fresh air.
She smiled as the wind blew in her face.
Joel was right. Lizzie thought, resting her head on her hand and blushing a bit as she thought about Joel.
Wait.
