I laughed as Athena played Just Dance on the Wii U.

Me: Go baby , it's ya birthday! 

Athena: Yeah mommy! It's my birthday , I'm gonna party like it's my birthday.

She was hitting nearly all the moves to the song.

The door opened and Leah came in.

Leah: Girls?

Athena: In here , Leah!

Athena never calls Leah mommy or daddy. I don't know why , but then again I don't really care. For some reason , I don't wan't Athena calling Leah daddy. 

Leah came in with her briefcase and a tired smile on her face as she picked up my running daughter.

Leah: Ah hey babygirl. How was school?

Wrong thing to ask cause when it comes to school , Athena will talk ya damn ear off in a heartbeat.

Athena: Oh! It was awesome. There was a new girl today and she was really shy and people thought she was mean but not me. Mommy taught me better , so I became her friend. By lunch time she was really popular but she always stuck by my side. She said I was her first friend so I'm always gonna be her favorite. She's really nice. Her names Kenya but I call I Ken-Ken and sometimes Ke-Ke. Oh , maybe we can have a sleepover this weekend. Ou-

Leah: Okay , that's enough Thena. Go play.

She set her down and Athena looked at Leah then went back to Just Dance without another word. 

Me: You didn't have to do that.

Leah looked over at me as she set the briefcase down on the table.

Leah: Do what?

Me: You didn't have to cut her off like that. You asked her about her day.

I watched as she laughed and began to undo her tie.

Leah: She talks alot baby.

Me: So? Athena , baby come here for a minute.

She paused the game and sat beside me.

Athena: Yes mommy?

Me: Finish telling me about how your day went.

Athena's eyes lit up making me smile.

Athena: Okay so our teacher said we could sit with each other! I'm so excited because I think we're best friends now. We have math , science , music and english with each other but we have different social studies teachers but that's okay because we even ride the same bus! We had to sit three to a seat because we had extra people on our bus , but that's okay too because everybody needs a place to sit. 

Athena was my everything. I would never call her a mistake , she wasn't planned. I ended up pregnant and her father up and left out of both of our lives. Ever since then it's been Athena and I. Even if Lena was in her life or not. To Athena , Lena was just another normal person.

After Athena's little rant , I told her to get started on her homework , and she did as I said.

Lena sat beside me on the couch.

Lena: How was your day?

I shrugged.

Me: It was okay. I cleaned up , cashed some checks , made some deposits , yanno. The usual.

Lena: Well that's good. My day was pretty good too. A co-worker is having a Christmas party in about 3 weeks and I want you to go , along with Athena as well. Her family is wonderful.

See what I mean by she's boring? It's sad yo , forreal.

Me: Maybe. I might have to work.

Lena: Work? Baby , when are you gonna quit stripping so we can become a family.

Me: Me? Quit stripping? When I'm only 22? Girl bye. I'll stop once I'm nearing my thirties. And for us to be a "family" , you've got to stop acting like that towards my baby before we can be anything more than just girlfriends.

I got up and went into the kitchen after grabbing my iPhone 6S Plus. I saw Thena laying her head down on her arm while scribbling in the upper corner of her paper.

Me: Hey babygirl , what's the matter?

Athena: This is hard.

Me: Your homework?

She nodded.

Me: You want me to help you?

Athena: Yes.

Me: Okay.

I sat at the island beside her and slid the paper inbetween us.

I watched as Kemani threw a fit and began her fake crying. I waited until she stopped.

Me: You done?

Kemani sighed.

Kemani: Oh come on. Please let me get my nails done baby.

Me: I'm not stopping you from getting your nails done , I'm just saying I'm not paying for it. You got money.

Kemani: But so do you , infact you have more money than I do.

Me: Just cause I got a good amount of bands , don't mean anything. I still got moves to make , I got bills to pay. 

Kemani: I know but-

Me: No buts , no exceptions. Either you pay your self or they aint getting done. End of discussion.

I sat on my bed and slipped on my Blue Low Forces. 

Kemani: But baby , don't you love me?

What Kemani and I got , is different , but it's also special , but more different. She's a gold-digger but when she isn't after that , she's amazing. She's at her most beautiful when she's wearing no makeup , her hair is tied , and she's just in some sweatpants and a tank top.

Me: You know I do , but I'm still not spending money on you.

She stomped her foot and walked out of our room and to God knows where.

Yes , "our" room. Kemani and I live together in a big house with a live in maid who doesn't clean after 8 but will clean at some 4 something in the morning. I swear , sometimes I don't understand Bui.

My iPhone 7 Plus vibrated on the table beside the bed. I grabbed it and saw my homie Jocelyn calling.

I answered the phone after letting it vibrate twice more so it could annoy her. I love annoying her.

Me: Yo.

Jocelyn: Don't "yo" me. Nigga start answering ya phone quicker. It's annoying.

Me: Why do you think it rings for so long dumbass. I did it to annoy you.

Jocelyn: Ah man , you fucked up for that.

Me: I know but what you want?

Jocelyn: To go to a club. Tonight. I'll be outside around 7:30.

Then the bitch hung up before I could even say anything to her bald headed ass.
