Waters of Words

Words are knives, scalpers hateful

Poison dearest, weapon faithful.

If only I could stab the hole

And pay that dreaded toll

With words I spin so directly

Replacing my feelings abjectly.

But a choice is not wants of mind,

And hearts are rarely so kind.

So filled with loss, the air is painful.

Eyes are red, the color baneful.

And thoughts betray with every second,

Hours spent in accursed beckon.

Breathless feeling, gnawing, knowing,

That her smile so faintly glowing,

Will never be aimed at you ever again.

How can anything heal such a pain?

Will anything, ever again burn so furiously,

Or anyone's eyes look at you so curiously?

Oh wise and experienced proclaim it so,

But in the end, it's just false bravado.

Scars remain, even if the pain is gone.

You live on, waiting for another dawn.

But something in you is lost forever

Potential snuffed, no matter how clever.

And water bubbles into eternity,

Dragging with it your posterity.

All could's and if's lost to the flood,

The flower blooming cut in the bud.

So aching hearts to shadows fall,

Lost amour screaming down the waterfall.
