The strangest excuse ever
Crystal and her husband Maurice had two children a son named Patrick and a daughter named Tina. The truth was that she was actually an unexpected addition to the family. After the birth of their son Patrick they had decided not to have any more children. So when Crystal discovered that she was pregnant it came as quite a shock.
Flashback:
"Ugh. I don't feel well..." Ugh. I don't feel well..."
"Are you sure that your ok Sweetheart? You haven't been feeling well for several days now... You're sure you don't want to schedule a doctor's appointment?" Her husband had said his face etched with worry.
"I'm fine!" She had snapped at him. "There's no need to waste money on a visit to the doctor."
The next morning another wave of nausea hit her as she rushed to the bathroom. "What is going on with me? I've had a lot of mood swings lately and I can't keep anything down. I don't usually have these issues unless it's that time of the month. When was my last cycle?" Crystal glanced at the calendar and her her face became pale. "Oh no! I'm late... That means one of two things: I've started menopause or I'm pregnant... Since I'm far too young for the first option that leaves only the second choice. No... No. No... This can't be happening!"
"Sweetheart, are you ok? You've been in the bathroom for a little while..."
"I'm fine." Crystal managed to reply.
"Can help you somehow? Do you need anything?" Her husband had asked.
"Oh I think you've helped enough already!" Crystal muttered.
"You are sure you're ok?"
"Mommy why is your tummy getting bigger?"
"Honey, do you know how your cousin plays dolls and she pretends she has a baby in her tummy?" Our son nods. "Well, Mommy has a real baby in her tummy. "
"How did you get a baby in you tummy mommy?"
"Daddy put the baby there, but don't tell him ok?"
"Don't tell daddy what?" I handed him the pregnancy test and he immediately fainted. As I went to check to see if he was alright I didn't notice our small son grabbing the telephone.
"911 what's your emergency?"
"Daddy put a baby in mommy's tummy and he fell down and went to sleep..."
Before long there was a knock on the front door. "Hello?"
"Hello Ma'am we are sorry to bother you but we received a distress call from this number. Something about someone went to sleep and won't wake up? And something about a baby?"
"Sweetheart, did you dial 911?"
"Yes mommy."
"I am so sorry about this officers."
"It's alright Ma'am and do tell your husband congratulations when he wakes up."
9 months later.
"911 what's your emergency?"
"My mommy peed on the floor. She said the package was being delivered and daddy seems to have fallen asleep again."
"Oh dear.... We will send ambulance right away."
Time jump to present day five years later
The day began like any other, all the hustle and bustle of the day they didn't have time much time to spend with little Tina. To keep her distracted while they got ready for the work day they handed her their pet iguana. Then Crystal went to take a shower and her husband left for work. Their son who was supposed to be watching her while waiting for the bus sat playing a video game. It was soon almost time to go to school.
"Eddie get off. Me has to go to school now." But the iguana refused to leave its nice new warm spot on her back. "Pagwick."
"Go away, and go play with your dolls or something. I am busy..." Patrick replies as he continues to play games on his phone.
"But Patwick..."
"Go away. Can't you see I am busy fighting zombies? Stop bugging me. Go sits down."
Reluctantly, I did as she was told. What was I going to do? I couldn't take Eddie with me to school. My teacher was afraid of lizards. Then I remembered that my teacher had said in class that if there was an emergency to dial 911. So that's exactly what I did. "911 what is your emergency?"
"Me has to go to school but me pet iguana won't get off me back. Mommy is in tub, daddy's gone to wowk and me big bwotha is busy fighting zombies. Can you help me?"
"Sweetheart, how old are you?"
"Me is fibe. Me name is Tina. Me adwess is 361 Elmwood Owachads stweet."
Upon hearing Tina talking to someone and telling them her age and address Patrick immediately grabs the phone from her hands and hangs it up. "What are you doing? You know your not supposed to talk to strangers!"
"But me wasn't talking to a stwanga. Me was talking to the nice 911 people."
"You called 911?" Tina nods and he groans. "Tina 911 is for emergencies only. You could get into so much trouble for this..." He replies.
"But why? This is an emewgency. Eddie is stuck and me can't get him off. You was busy fighting zombies and mommy's in the tub so me called 911 to come help me."
Before he could reply the phone began to ring again and 911 came across the caller ID. "Hello? Yes, this is 203 200-1337."
"We received a call from this number about an iguana on someone's back. That their brother was busy fighting zombies and their mom is in the tub. You do know when you call 911 your number comes up in our system don't you?"
"Yes Officer."
"I hope this wasn't some sort of prank or dare because calling 911 is no laughing matter."
"I am so sorry officers. My baby sister made the call. She didn't know any better. She learned about calling 911 in school yesterday. She thought that since I was busy playing Zombie apocalypse and our mom was taking a bath that having our pet iguana on her back where she couldn't reach her was an emergency. Yes, I will have my mom and dad speak to her about the seriousness of what she did. I promise she won't ever do something like that again.
At least I hope she doesn't." He mutters as he hangs up the phone.
"Honey who was that on the phone?"
"Ummm, the police."
"What? Oh no, has something happened to your father? Was he in an accident or something?"
"Mom calm down. Dad is fine."
"Oh thank goodness. You almost gave me a heart attack. Were they calling for a donation or something? I've told them numerous times we don't donate over the phone..."
"No, it wasn't anything like that.."
"Then why??" Crystal noticed her son glance over at his sister with an irritated look on his face. She sighed in frustration. "Young lady, come here."
"Yes mommy?"
"What did you do?"
"Me called 911."
"You did WHAT? What on Earth possessed you into thinking that it was ok to call 911? 911 is for emergencies!"
"Me sowwy mommy."
"You are in so much trouble young lady. Just wait until your father gets home."
