The legion

It was a very odd sound. It sounded like shuffling inside the hunk of metal. Of course that was ridiculous. The only way there could be something inside of it was if- "oh bollocks!" Arch scrambled away from the titan as a hatch on its front sprang open with an almighty creak. It looked half melted around the sides. "Probably lost a fight with a scorch" Arch thought as a man pulled his way out of the hatch. He wore some kind of black armour with silver highlights on the shoulder pads. He wore a helmet that looked similar to that of the infamous Viper, the pilot of a Northstar titan, he worked for the bounty hunter Blisk and his crew. The man, obviously a pilot, had fallen to the ground and was pitifully dragging his way over to Arch, who at this time was cowering in fear. Not because of the sight of the half dead man but because of the sight of the titan getting up behind him. It looked to be a legion load out, for it was bigger and bulkier than the average titan. Of course it could also have been a Scorch, but Arch doubted it.

Scorch titans had a more rounded cockpit hatch and its most prominent feature, the backpack containing the t-203 thermite launcher ammo, was not equipped to this titan. Furthermore this titan had a blueish colour scheme whereas Scorch's had a dusty beige look about them. However it didn't matter what titan this was, it could crush Arch without a second thought if it was so inclined. It didn't look hostile though. It looked... sad? It was watching the pilot crawl around on the floor. The pilot set his sights on Arch and began to crawl towards him again. Not particularly caring if this man was an "enemy" he stooped down and placed a hand on the man's shoulder. Though it was slightly unorthodox the pilot took the gesture and relaxed. He could hear his titan warning him through his neural link but he didn't care. He looked to the boy and smiled taking off his helmet. "Who thought the only act of compassion I've ever seen in this war came from a child I don't even know?" this thought drifted through his head, he looked up seeing a bright light. Knowing what this meant he closed his eyes and smiled wider.

Arch felt the man go limp. A pang of sorrow staked his heart, as it always did when he saw people die. It was the way of things, though Arch had a considerably larger problem sitting right in front of him. The optics of the Legion titan was focused on him. It began to slowly advance on Arch whom was immobilized with fear, after all this titan was 4 meters high at the least. The mass of metal crouched in front of him and stared. "No visible weaponry, mental and physical age appear no younger than thirteen, no record of existence on IMC or militia database. Threat assessment: harmless." The titan stated in a low male voice. It stood up, turned around and sat in front of the pilot's corpse.

Arch followed and sat down next to it. Looking down the titan could see to boy in his optics. He looked... sad? He should not be, the titan reasoned. After all he had not lost his partner. Turning back to face his pilot, the titan then thought "Is he sad for me?" however quickly he dismissed this thought. The boy looked terrified of him not two minutes ago. Arch stood up and walked directly in front of the titan's optics looking closely at them. Hadn't they been brighter earlier? "Hey, are you running low on battery?" Arch asked. The titan looked annoyed "I have 5.72 % battery remaining. It will be used to uphold protocol 3." Arch looked at the titan with a piercing glare "Protocol 3 has no effect when the pilot is dead." He stated "There is no point in guarding a corpse." The titan said nothing. After staring off for about 3 minutes Arch walked away from the titan. He had a purpose and so did he.
