Aftermath
Breathing hard Arch opened the titan's cockpit. Leaning on the railing he looked down at the Ronin. It was dead no doubt about it. Its cockpit was blasted to hell and back, and nothing on earth would fix it. Arch jumped down and began rifling through the small space anyway. He was a scavenger after all. He found some ammo for a pistol he didn't have, some spare pilot armour which again he didn't have and, perhaps the best find, a jump pack.Slipping it on, he recalibrated his helmet HUD to include jump pack functions. Moving on to the titan itself arch began to skirt around looking for anything salvageable. He managed to take off some armour and the phase dash generator. He didn't go anywhere near the arc wave reactor though. You'd need a hazmat suit for that one. Dragging the bits over to his titan he climbed up him and started to unscrew its armour.
"Pilot what are you doing?" it asked him "Replacing your armour." Arch replied "Assessment: my Chassis and armour received no damage during our confrontation." "I know but your reflexes are too slow." Arch said as he climbed across the titans back skirt armour, "If I'm gonna' pilot you I need to do it on my own terms. Which means you need to be faster, and I know the point of legion's are to be a heavy assault but you can't do that right now. You don't have your main weapon and your secondary systems and special systems can't be activated without one. If we do come across a working predator cannon though I will point it out to you. But for now we go with what we've got understand?" "Affirmative pilot." "Good. Have you got a name by the way? Mine's Arch." "I am designation XR-1152." "Cool. I'll call you X." Arch jumped down as X's armour fell off leaving the titan in his frame. Arch then connected the Ronin armour to the main parts of his legs and arms. He then reconnected the legion armour to the main chassis and the gaps in the legs and arms. Nodding at his work he decide to test the jump pack capability. He ran a short distance and leapt up with the jump pack 6 meters into the air! He came down with a sand cloud forming around his feet.
Grinning wildly he ran back to X and jumped onto his top. Holding on to the roof railings he jumped up slightly, opening the roof hatch with his neural link and slipped inside the cockpit. Sitting in the chair he ran a diagnostics scan. "Pilot. My speed has increased by 62% and my armour has improved sufficiently to compensate for the loss of my original armour. Brief summary: speed has increased and level of armour protection has remained the same. Assessment: Good." The titan stood up and began walking. "Protocol 1: Link to the pilot, has been achieved. Protocol 3: Protect the pilot, is in progress." "What about protocol 2?" "Protocol 2 has no effect when no mission is issued. Though depending on the situation our main priority is to escape the planet correct?" "Correct. How we do that?" "Assessment: the titan we fought earlier must have been a part of an operation. Meaning that the organisation he came from must have a base. Under that assumption they must also have a way off planet. That could be our way out of here." Arch nodded. "Then where is this base?" "I do not know. We may have to go find another pilot and titan to tell us. Which may mean another confrontation."
Sighing Arch clicked the leadwall into the legions back holster. He then yanked the sword out of the Ronin, slid it into the sheath he installed on X's back and started walking in one direction. This was going to take a long time.
