Forty.

Her eyes were closed. She was suddenly having a dream. A man, hovering above her. He had this intoxicating familiar scent that she loved.

"Wakey." The sexy voice whispered against her lips.

In her dream? Anna fluttered her eyes slightly.

"Wakey." The alluring voice repeated, huskier than before.

Anna moaned, shutting her eyes. "You're not real." She mumbled trying to drift back to sleep.

"I am." The voice whispered.

Anna felt something soft press against her lips. Lips? She thought, just when her subconsciousness hit her and her eyes flew wide open.

"Boo!"

The first person she saw was Scott whose face was an inch away from her face. "Gah!" She pushed him with all her might making him stumble backwards and land on the floor.

"Anna!" He turned to her, slightly glaring.

She sat up, giving him a questioning face. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I should be asking you that." He got up, dusting the invisible dust off his pants. "You're in my room, on my bed." Scott pointed out.

"What?" She raised a brow. She suddenly looked around the whole place. "Huh? How did..." This was the Ontario Mansion -Scott's room. "I don't remember... I..."

"Explain yourself." He raised a brow at her.

She had fallen asleep in the garden after the hectic work she had done for Mrs Ontario maybe Daniel had carried her into Scott's room. "I don't know." Anna slouched. "I don't remember." She got up from the bed. "Where's Isla?"

"She's with my parents." He answered, taking out his phone. "We had a lot of fun today, you missed out." He told her while pressing his phone.

"Please keep her out of public eyes, I don't want Isla in any spotlight." She reminded him.

"Are you free tonight?" Scott asked without glancing at her.

    "Why?" She eyed him suspiciously.

"Just answer." He was typing furiously on his keypad.

   "No." She answered.

"Cool, wear something nice, we're going out later." He ignored her answer and walked towards the door.

"Scott I told you no, or do you have selective hearing?" She frowned at him.

"Sweetheart I'm coming to pick you up by 8. We're taking Isabelle with us so don't worry about her." He turned briefly to look at her. "Look, you're coming with me whether you like it or not so be ready." He said and left the room.

"Stupid idiot." Anna groaned. Wait, did he kiss her... Or was it all a dream? "Scott! Get back here!" She stomped out of the room going to meet him.

She saw him going down a corridor and she scurried to stop him. "Hey!"

Scott turned around to see Anna marching forward. "Yes sweetheart?"

"Tell me..." Her arms were folded over her chest. "Back there... In the room.... Did you.. Did you kiss me?" Anna asked him.

"You wanna know... Because?" He feigned innocence.

"Because I don't trust you." She narrowed her eyes at him. "So did you?"

"No." He shook his head. But of course he was lying.

Relief flooded her face and she heaved. So, it was only a dream? "One more thing, I won't be able to join you tonight."

"Yes you will." He rolled his eyes. "I already planned everything out so I don't care if I'll have to kidnap you."

"I have a date." Anna told him plainly.

"Sorry, don't care." He didn't seem moved.

"I have a date with Dee and I can't go with you."

Scott eyed her. "You'll have to cancel." His voice darkened.

    "What?" She furrowed.

"You heard me." He said authoritatively.

"Mr Ontario you are not —"

"We are back to Mr Ontario, huh Anna? We're going out because Isabelle wants us to. You have to cancel your date." He said the last sentence with spite.

She was confused. "Isla wants us to—"

"Well I could tell her that her mommy doesn't want to, she prefers going on dates." He stared her down, trying to intimidate her.

"Stop it." She glared at him. "Well fine, I'll go with you. But only because of Isla says so."

Scott stared at her for some seconds before speaking. "Why?"

She combed her fingers through her hair. "Why what?" She wasn't paying attention to him, rather, she was looking at a huge portrait of a landscape painting.

"Why are you going on a date with my brother? I thought you said you weren't dating each other."

She turned to Scott. "I like Daniel, he's very kind, he respects women, he has never hurt my feelings, he adores Isla, he is.... Perfect for me."

Scott frowned at her, twisting his lips. "Yeah. The perfect son." He scoffed sarcastically. "For the first time since forever, I can say I envy him. He is so perfect in everybody's eyes, even my own daughter loves him. Everyone is on his side, now..... Even you." He shrugged at her.

"Dee is just different. That is what I like about him." Anna said to Scott.

"I am also different Anna, it's just you don't like my different."

"You're a bad different. Once you change, I'll see you differently, but for now, no."

He rubbed his lips in a thinking way. "Once I change, would you... Would things go back to the way it was? Seven years ago?"

"I am not that girl of seven years ago, nothing can ever be the same. What's important is that I no longer hold a grudge against you, and I am over it. We can move on, coparenting." Anna said to him.

He nodded and turned to walk away.

"Scott." Rhonda called her son who was just passing by.

Scott turned around to look at his mom. "Yeah?"

"My dear, have you seen Anna?" She asked him.

"Upstairs." He said about to turn but Rhonda stopped it.

"Is everything alright?" She asked her son.

"Yes." Scott feigned a smile at her.

"Are you..." She got distracted seeing Anna approaching. "Oh there is Anna." Rhonda smiled at Anna. "Anna dear, please come." Rhonda beckoned on Anna.

Scott decided to leave but Rhonda stopped him.

"Where do you think you're going? I want to talk both of you.... together." Rhonda told him.

"Mom I'm busy. I have to go." Scott shook his head.

"Don't be such a grouch." She said, turning to Anna. "It's Isabelle's birthday soon, I need all hands on deck. It has to be the best."

Anna heaved and then smiled. "Anything I can help with?"

"I want you and Scott to run a little errand for me." She told them.

He rolled his eyes. "No. Send someone else. I have a lot of work to do." He said, taking out his phone.

"You and Anna should meet with the florist and discuss the flower arrangements for the party." Rhonda instructed. "Our florist is expecting you so go. Besides, Anna doesn't know our florist."

He scoffed. "Mom I have no idea what you're talking about." He said, looking away from Anna.

"Just go with her son." Rhonda said, leaving them both.

Anna glanced up at him. "Let's just go." She told him.

"Why? Why would I go with you? You don't want me near you and you always think bad of me. I'd rather leave you alone." Scott said without sparing her a glance. He was still hurt from everything she said.

She sighed. "Okay fine, I'm sorry. I'm sorry if I hurt you in anyway but—"

"No, you're not sorry." He said cutting her off before walking out.

"Hey!" Anna groaned. "Wait! Scott wait!" She called out to him but he didn't turn.

She ran on heels, trying to stop him but fell. "Ow!" She yelped.

Scott turned around to see her on the floor. He raising a brow, she stared at her.

Anna noticed that he didn't even move to help her. "Ow!!" She shouted to get his attention.

Scott scoffed, turning away to leave. "What is she thinking? That I'd run to her?" He said to himself casually.

"Oh no! Blood! I'm bleeding!!" Anna screamed hysterically. Of course she got his attention.

"What?!" Scott ran back to her. "Wh-where?" He scooted, crouching beside her to check for her injuries. "Where did you get hurt?" He held her face with his hand. He was worried.

Anna shook her head slowly. "I'm fine now."

"Let me guess, you tricked me?" He narrowed his eyes at her accusingly.

"You left me." She frowned at him. "Why'd you do that?"

He chuckled. "You're such a pain in my ass." Scott poked the tip of her nose. "Can you stand?"

"I can." Anna took his hand as they both stood up.

"You're so immature." Scott shook his head. "And you know what, I'm pretty upset with you." He said before turning.

Anna watched him walk away before deciding to go after him. "Why are you upset?" She asked, trying to keep up with him.

"Stop following me." Scott told her.

"Your mom said we should go to the florist together." Anna said to him.

"I don't want to. Maybe, I don't know, ask Daniel to join you? Since you like him and other stuff." He said, raising his voice.

Anna rolled her eyes. "Don't be like that."

He scoffed. "Yeah right! I'm pretty sure you can't stand me so stop bothering me."

"Now you're behaving immature." She frowned at him.

"Can you go now?" Scott paid no attention to her.

When she noticed that Scott didn't even want to look at her, she grabbed his wrist, stopping him from moving. "I can't catch up, you're walking too fast." Anna said, going to stand in front of him.

"What are you doing?" He finally looked at her.

"I get it, you're upset. I know I hurt your feelings when I talked about Daniel and I. I shouldn't have said that, I'm sorry." She apologized.

"Why are you apologizing? You don't have to apologize for anything because you made your choice." Scott said to her.

"Scott.... I just..." She closed her eyes taking in a deep breath. Should she tell him her true feelings? That she was beginning to see him as more than just Isla's father? See him as... More?

Scott stared down at her, as she played with her lips. God, how he wanted to actually hold and kiss her.

   "Then do it." Anna replied.

  "What?" He raised his brow.

"You said you wanna kiss me. What's stopping you?" Anna moved closer to him.

Oh, he was verbal! He had actually said it to her. "You want me to kiss you? Not that I don't want to but you..." He wasn't sure if he heard correctly.

"Stay still." Anna went in, tilting her head to the right before planting a soft kiss on his lips.

Scott, although stunned by her boldness, melted immediately her lips touched his. It was the softest, pillowy lips he had ever kissed. He couldn't help bit drown in her glorious scent. When he felt her try to pull away, his arms encircled her waist, lifting her feet half way off the ground while her hand was placed on his cheek. It was a slow rhythmic kiss, mixed with passion and craving.

Both lost in their world, the two of them enjoyed each other's lips. As they broke apart after awhile, they both embraced themselves.

"I like us better this way Anna." Scott whispered, allowing his hand soothe her hair. "Please... Stop pushing me away." He said, closing his eyes to feel her warmth.

Hi 👋  dear Immalings!!! This chapter had to be rushed because the chapter had previously been deleted and I had no idea how to get it back. If you noticed, it's probably the shortest chapter I've written so far. Sorry if this isn't what you expected. The first draft was way better than this... But this would do.

   Thanks for understanding...
