❝ It is fall, the season of memory. ❞

𝓣he scarlet-coloured Hogwarts Express made its way along the tracks, the train was crowded with bustling activity and excited students. Somewhere in the middle of the train was a compartment, packed with six restless teenagers, excited to start their seventh and final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. James Potter took up half of a seat, his legs kicked up across the bench (as always), leaning against his two best friends: Junia Song and Sirius Black.

James Potter had always been out there, saying what was on his mind, doing whatever he wanted. The boy was notorious for his and his friends' reckless behavior and pranks that they pulled around the school. As for Junia Song, she was just like him, though far more toned down. Junia was softer where James' edges were more sharp — with her fair complexion, framed by long silky dark hair, and delicate brown eyes — Junia was considered more tolerable compared to James Potter. Though, that didn't take away her fierceness and the fact that Junia would do anything for her friends — always making sure they were content and had everything they wanted. Junia was always open for people who needed her help, and always gave the best advice.

Junia and James had grown up together (due to the fact they only lived about fifty yards from each other!), with their hilarious jokes, watching each other overcome challenges and the stupid bickering that usually ended with James' surrender, the two were inseparable. In reality, the truth was that Junia was practically head over heels in love with James and had been since the day they met, though in an attempt to not lose him or their friendship, Junia would never ever tell the boy how she truly felt.

Sirius was raised differently to his two friends, while their upbringings were full of sweet birthday cakes and long summers lounging in the garden, his was filled with cold lectures about the proper sort of person and cobwebs in their kitchen. Sirius' family was all obsessed with blood purity as they had been a long time member of the sacred twenty-eight.

In the summer before 5th year, Sirius made the decision to run away from his home, leaving his parents and younger brother behind. Sirius found a home in the Potter manor, seeing James as a brother rather than the best friend. Although Sirius grew up with strict rules and it was practically in his genetics to be obedient, the boy was just as committed to the pranks and mischief as James, he would do anything for a good laugh!

Junia smiled, looking out the window next to her, the green grass of the hills blurred together as the train raced along the tracks, "Last year at Hogwarts, how are you feeling Nini?" James' calm voice cut through the silence of the compartment.

Junia felt the feeling of butterflies flutter in her stomach, Nini, the nickname only the Potter boy called her. The girl earned herself the nickname when they were only six, it was before their life was all about magic and Hogwarts, the two would play in the streets from sunrise to sunset as their neighborhood was always empty. There was no actual story to the nickname, only that James wanted to call her something unique, something no one else called her. The name Nini was in the list of nicknames, and as the years grew on it was the one that stuck and the name he mainly called her.

"I'm just not sure what I'll do when this is all over. I remember my life before Hogwarts but it'll never be the same." Junia spoke softly, her hand coming up to brush at a strand of dark hair that had fallen free from behind her ear. Remus, who sat opposite Junia, inserted his scrappy bookmark (which looked like it had seen better days) into the page before shutting the book and turning to the group.

Remus Lupin always had his head in a book or was working on something. The boy had grown up very differently to James, Junia and Sirius, Remus was a half blood— his mother was a Muggle (someone with no magic), and his father was a Wizard, although his parents were different they still loved him and raised him in a way different to others. Remus' mother was more present than his father, meaning he was raised with the more muggle ways of life, his first few years were spent as he and his mother worked around their small farm in peace.

That was until some werewolf named Fenrir Greyback bit him at the young age of 4, long story short every month when the full moon came out Remus Lupin would transform into a beast. Though Remus was anything but a beast, when the full moon was hidden away he was sweet and kind, always there for the friends who needed him.

Next to him sat Lila, a girl with soft mousey brown hair, curling softly around her ears from where she had it scraped back into a soft bun, her doe shaped eyes capturing millions of emotions under the soft hazel color, music blasted through the headphones on her ears. Lila was also raised in a half-blood family, her father was a Muggle, but he was supportive and loved magic (mainly because of his beautiful wife!) whilst her mother was a Witch and a Herbologist.

So when Lila turned eleven-years-old and received her letter inviting her to attend Hogwarts, the girl was ecstatic and accepted immediately, doing anything to get a taste of adventure that her mother disclosed to her. She was placed into Hufflepuff, the same house as her mother, one with the friendliest and kindest students. But Lila found a friendship with the new Gryffindors that she first sat on the train with.

Unlike the rest of the boys, Lila and Junia were more responsible, toning down their crazy ideas and reckless thoughts, without them, the four boys would have gone mad! Just above her music, Lila could hear the duo's voices, "Oh I know what I'm doing. . . I'm so being a professional Quidditch player!" Lila announced—though it would've been hard to understand, given her thick scottish accent (which the others had learnt to decode by now). She proceeded to turn her music up louder after her statement.

Another thing about Lila was that she was absolutely Quidditch obsessed, she was out of her mind competitive and would do anything in order to win the sport. Out of everything in her life, Quidditch was top priority.

An arm reached out for the brunette girl, yanking the headphones off her head, "You can't just be a professional Quidditch player because you're good at the sport!" Remus retorted, gaining a slight eye roll from his friend.

"'Course I can!" Lila argued, snatching the Muggle cassette player from his hand, placing it on her lap, almost guarding it like a hungry dog. Remus sighed. Lila loved to argue, she was great at debating her point (even if it wasn't always correct), and ninety percent of the time she was arguing. Even if becoming a professional Quidditch player wasn't a realistic goal, Remus would let her hope for it if that's what Lila really wanted in life (plus he didn't want to argue with her and lose!).

"Shhh Lila!" Junia let out a small whine, giving a small nod towards the boy next to her, Peter Pettigrew lay fast asleep, his head lulling leaning against the compartment door.

Out of the four boys, Peter was not the most outspoken, the boy usually followed along with what his friends were doing, deciding to take guard during pranks (otherwise he would chicken out) and do whatever his friends wanted to do. Peter had always struggled to make friends and fit in, though growing up near the lovely Junia and James made him feel right at home, the two always made sure he was included in group activities (and Junia was also trying to set him up with James' cousin, Maeve!) Peter's family was lovely, both possessing magic (though his father was a Muggleborn). His parents found it better to still keep him in the loop of the Muggle world.

Peter stirred in his sleep as Remus opened his mouth to speak again. "So, last year! It feels just like it did when the six of us met on this train our first year." He reflected. It was crazy that almost seven years had passed!

"Bloody hell! Do you remember the first prank we played on Snivellus and his little American girlfriend—Auburn Aubrey?" Sirius laughed reminiscing on the first prank the group had pulled together in which they casted a charm on the two Slytherins—changing the color of their hair and robes to a bright neon red. To say that the Ilvermorny transfer was upset would be an understatement. The dark auburn haired girl retaliated — scolding the group of pranksters, in which they responded with laughing right in her bright red face.

The lull in the conversation was filled by the soft rattling of their luggage in the storage racks above their heads. The group sat in comfortable silence until Peter shot up, practically squealing as he crouched forward, pointing a finger.

"Look!" He exclaimed, leaving the rest of the group to lean forward and peer out of the window, just about able to decipher the tall spikes and towers of the castle, hundreds of little windows emanating a soft orange glow.

"We are so back," Sirius said, his eyes glimmering with mischief, a look often shared with his five friends.

The year was only just beginning.
