Epilogue

Kabir sighed as he saw the time on the table clock, five minutes to 6 pm. In about an hour, he had to go and pick his wife and kids from his in-laws' house. Since his work was done, he decided to call it day and leave. He called his interns and informed them about the patients they had to check up and what medications were needed. His interns noted everything their boss told them and left his cabin.

He picked his office bag up and strutted to the parking lot. Once inside his car, he kept his bag aside and took out his phone to call his wife to inform her that he was on his way. He dialled her number and waited patiently for her to pick his call up. Some seconds later, his wife picked up his call and he said, "Hey Annie, I'm leaving from hospital now. Will reach in half an hour."

"No need for you to pick us up. We already reached home with Nivan about a couple of hours back. You directly come home Kabir," Anaisha said wearily.

Kabir became a little worried and asked, "But why so soon? I mean you said I wanted to spend time with your parents? Then what happened? Did the kids did something again?"

Kabir being an excellent father, knew how lovely his kids were. Father of five years old non identical twin sons, Kabir was well aware with each and every traits of his sons. His sons were born pranksters, always breaking something or other or creating havoc and chaos wherever they went. Even their kindergarten teacher kept buzzing his and Annie's cellphones with complaints about their son's mischievous behaviour. Though it was Annie who had taken on the role of the stricter parent, she still wanted him to be a little strict with kids so that they understood that it's their father they were fooling with. But the thing was that, his kids knew well how to coaxed their father and he somehow always gave in and saved them from Annie's scolding, though that gotten him in trouble all the time!

"You come home Kabir. There's nothing serious. We'll talk about it. Bye!" Anaisha said before ending the call.

Kabir said bye and kept it his phone on the dashboard and started the engine of his car. He drove out from the hospital premises and reached home after a 25 minutes drive.

As he reached home, he saw Annie sitting on sofa in the living area with a glass of juice in one hand, while the other hand was on her bulging belly as she was pregnant for the second time. Keeping his bag on the side table near the door, he went to where his wife was sitting and said, "What's the matter Annie? Why did you come so early from your parent's house?"

Anaisha had seen Kabir just then as she was deep in thoughts and responded, "Oh you're back. Nothing really, its just your sons. You freshen up Kabir, I'll make coffee for you. We'll talk then. You must be tired na?"

"No it's fine. I'll make coffee, you take rest. And what did the boys do now?" Kabir asked. He knew well his sons must've done something because of which Annie came back early.

Annie chuckled and said casually, "Oh don't worry much. It's been taken care of. All you have to do is make them understand how dangerous pranks can be at times. Anyway, you freshen up, till then I'll get the boys out of their room. They both are quite angry at me for scolding them for their kind act, though that's according to them. You ask them on your own what they did this time."

"Okay! I'm sure they again did something crazy. You get them out of their room and I'll make coffee." Kabir got up and left for his room. After changing his clothes and freshening up, he went to the kitchen and made coffee for himself. While going towards the kitchen, he saw his parents and GM sitting in the living area and passed them a smile. They returned the gesture with a teasing smile, which he knew was because of his sons.

He then made his way to the dining area, where Anaisha was waiting for him with their elder son, Arman. The living area where his parents and GM were, was opposite to dining area. They mostly avoided being infront of the kids when Kabir was talking or confronting them about their pranks. And they thought it was better if they let Annie and Kabir handle their kids instead of supporting them or saving them from their parent's scolding. And Annie and Kabir liked this decision very much.

As Kabir sat down on the chair next to Arman and opposite to Annie, he noticed his other son wasn't there. He looked at Annie, who looked pretty tired and asked, "Where's Ayaan?"

"Under the table, as usual!" Annie exclaimed dryly. Whenever the confrontation was held, Ayaan, either angry or scared, would hide under the table and then Kabir had to convince him to come out.

Kabir sighed. Finishing his coffee, he got up from his chair and sat down on the floor, and peeping under the table, said, "Hey buddy, why so gloomy today?"

"As if you don't know!" replied Ayaan nonchalantly.

"Yeah I know. But if you won't come out and put forward your side of your story then how would I know who's right and who's not, right? C'mon, come out now. We'll talk it out like sober people," Kabir said forwarding his hand to Ayaan so that he could come out.

Ayaan looked at his father and stated, "I know well what's going to happen, you're going to support Annie and not us. Like usual!"

Kabir tried his best to suppress his laugh as he saw Annie's mouth opened like 'O' as Ayaan called her Annie. Whenever Ayaan was upset with Annie, he called her by her nickname rather than mom. Annie obviously, liked to put a strict face to it, but actually enjoyed her silly fights with her younger son.

Kabir, still forwarding his hand, said sincerely, "Of course not Ayaan. I will support the one who's right, even if it's not Annie. Now come out! You know na, Dada loves you and will not let your evil Annie punish you for no mistake of yours!" He winked at Ayaan, who after failed attempts to suppress his giggles, giggled sweetly.

Annie scowled at Kabir but couldn't manage to keep that look as Kabir give her a flying kiss. She blushed a little and passed him a smile. Even after all these years, he still had the same effect on her, and the same was with him. After seven years of being married, their love just kept increasing and with every single passing day, they fell more in love with each other.

Ayaan took his father's hand and came out. He looked at his mother and made a face. As Kabir took his seat, he motioned Ayaan to sit beside Arman and then said, "So I guess we should first hear what your mom has to say." Turning to Annie, he asked, "So Annie, what had the kids done today that made you scold them?"

"For a change Kabir, let the kids explain to you what they did. After that, I'll explain to you why I scolded them. But haan, I can tell you that they painted a dog today," Annie said while looking at her sons with a small smile lingering on her lips.

Kabir listened to her and muttered surprisingly, "You got angry because they painted a dog on the wall? That's such a petty issue Anaisha. You shouldn't get angry on them for so small issues."

Anaisha frowned and said indignantly, "Small issue? Dr. Thapar, your sons painted a real dog with Kanan's painting colours. You still think that's a small issue? Let your sons narrate their brave and kind act then I'll speak."

Kabir shook his head and exclaimed, "What? A real dog?" He then turned to his sons and continued, "Okay that's a pretty big issue. So boys, you put your side of story first. Why and how you both did that?"

Arman looked at Ayaan, who signalled him to start first. Arman nodded his head and said, "As you know Dada, we went to our grandma's house today to visit grandma and grandpa and play with Kanan Bhai and Shivin. While we were playing with Shivin in the garden, Shivin went inside with Kanan Bhai to get snacks for us. We were playing with our ball, when we saw a poor dog roaming around in the neighbour's garden with a sad look on its face. So we went and talked to it. He was very gloomy and dull. We thought he was upset over something, so we offered him a chocolate bar grandma gave us. But he didn't say anything nor did he accepted the chocolate. His parents must've told him not to speak with strangers. Anyway then we tried to speak to him and ask why he was so upset. But still he didn't say anything. Since he wasn't telling us his name, we read his name from his collar tag and it said Duffy. So then we kept talking to Duffy. But he wasn't responding. And then, Ayaan came up with a brilliant idea. Now from here, Ayaan will continue. Ayaan would you do the honour?"

"Sure darling brother. So while we talking to Duffy, I got an idea and I rushed to Kanan Bhai's room and took out his paints set. I brought them to where Duffy was and asked him if he was bored of being black all the time and he said yes...," Ayaan was speaking when Kabir interrupted him.

Kabir was listening keenly to his sons, though it was hard to suppress his laugh. They both were pretty much like Annie in talking and loved to share the story of their shenanigans with pride. He was enjoying their story, when Ayaan reached the colour part and asked with curiousity, "But baby, dogs don't speak. So how could Duffy say yes?"

"You're slow Dad!" Ayaan stated immediately. He looked at Arman, who shrugged his shoulders over their father's foolish question. Ayaan then glanced at his mother, who too was waiting eagerly for their response with a grin, so he said, "Of course Dada, dogs don't speak. Who told you that they do?"

"Yes, Ayaan's absolutely right. You misinterpreted our words. By speaking we meant barking. When we were talking to Duffy before, he was silent but when we asked him if he was bored of his hair colour, he barked which means yes," Arman explained in a matter of fact tone.

While all this was happening, Annie and Kabir were able to hear sound of muffled laughter coming from the living area where Kabir's parents and GM were sitting. Apparently they were enjoying this session too. They turned and saw them giving them a thumbs up for their confrontation. Kabir and Annie looked at each other, and smiled sheepishly as they too were enjoying this discussion.

Kabir looked at his sons and then at Annie, who was giggling to herself before finally turning to his sons again and said, "Okay continue your story."

"So yeah, where was I? Haan, so we asked him after that, will he be happy if paint him with our colours and give him a new look? So he said yes again, I mean he barked. So we asked him to come over our side of garden. He came and we started our work. I tell you dad, he was so silent and enjoyed the painting session very much. But just as we were done with our work, Kanan Bhai came there and saw us painting. He went to call Annie and even the owner of the dog came there. Annie came there and scolded us infront of Duffy. That was so wrong. He's our new friend and after getting scolded, what impression we have on him now? And tell us Dad, what wrong did we do, we just helped the poor dog and made him happy na? Then why was that grumpy uncle miffed with us? We did such a kind act by helping a poor soul. That's not fair!" Ayaan finished speaking and wiped his invisible tears.

Arman patted his shoulder and said sadly, "And if that wasn't enough Mom made us help that grumpy uncle to remove that paint. Duffy was really sad after that."

As the kids finished their story, Kabir could no longer help himself and burst into splits. His parents and GM too were laughing their hearts out. Annie after many failed attempts, too burst into splits of laughter. Seeing the adults laugh like that, the twin boys looked at each other, bewildered with such response.

Ayaan moved closer to Arman and whispered in his ears, "I guess they've gone mad now. How can they laugh over Duffy's tragic story?"

"I agree with you. That story is so sad. Dunno what's wrong with these grown ups!" Arman replied to Ayaan in the same hushed tone.

Once the adults stopped laughing, Kabir turned to Annie and whispered in her ears, "Like I always tell you, the mini Annie is really good at faking tears and being melodramatic, like his mother." Ayaan, due to his similar trait of being dramatic was called mini Annie by Kabir. In return, Annie called Arman as mini Kabir, as he was more like Kabir. But still both the brothers shared Anaisha's crazy streak.

Annie shot a him glare and retorted, "Yeah I know!"

Kabir grinned and asked, "Okay! What you did Annie after this sweet act of your sons? I'm sure that's why you came home early haina?"

Annie nodded and with a smirk said, "Yes you guessed it right. Well I apologised to Mr. Bhasin and then he wanted help in cleaning Duffy so I asked them to help him. And I didn't actually scold them like that. I just told them that if they are going to do something like this again then I'll not take these two to meet Kanan and Shivin. And boys, that Duffy definitely wouldn't really want to hang out with you two after all this. Thank goodness you didn't use permanent paints, just the water colours."

Kabir shook with laughter and asked his sons, "So now what you both want to say?"

"But that wasn't right! She could've told us that when we were alone, not infront of others. That's wasn't fair with us!" Both Arman and Ayaan said stubbornly in unison.

"C'mon babies, you know if I hadn't scolded you that time then you both wouldn't have accepted your mistake. You know how much worried I was. I know Duffy's a Neapolitan Mastiff but what if it was from an aggressive breed? It could've bitten you both and Ayaan then you'd have to get injections for that and I know how much scared you are of needles. But I just want you both to know that it's not right to do such risky pranks. Just think about your baby sibling, he or she was so tensed for you two. But you both.. Uff!" Annie muttered while looking at her sons and then turned to Kabir.

Kabir stood up and went to stand behind Annie. Wrapping his arms around her shoulders, he said justly, "Arman and Ayaan, I believe you both know who's right this time. I appreciate that you both actually wanted to help someone, but Duffy really didn't need your help. That was not a correct way to help an animal. Painting an animal like that isn't an appreciable thing because it can affect their health too. And your Mom did the right thing by making you help Mr. Bhasin because it was his pet you both had painted."

Arman and Ayaan both stared at their hands as their father continued speaking. Kabir glanced at Annie and continued, "And you both know na, your Mom is pregnant with your new sibling. Then also you both trouble her like this? Haven't you both promised me that you'll take good care of her while I'm at work? Then why do you both always end up troubling her like this? And then you both get angry when she scolds you both. That's not right babies. You need to help your Mom instead of troubling her and your sibling. Now c'mon, apologise to her and promise her you won't do anything like that again. C'mon!"

Just like Annie, Arman and Ayaan also understood everything perfectly when their father explained it to them. Kabir surely knew how to make people understand something, that too with ease, that's why he was considered one of the best mentors by the interns.

Both Ayaan and Arman looked at their mother with guilt in their eyes. They both never wanted to trouble her or their unborn sibling purposely. It was only because they wanted to help Duffy and get their Mom's praises, but actually ended up upsetting their mother. Both of them got up from their place and went to stand on either sides of their mother and taking her hand in theirs, said guiltily, "We are sorry Mumma, we never wanted to make you upset. We promise we won't do any such pranks again!"

Annie looked at her sons and their sad faces. She knew they never intended to trouble her like this and were guilty too. But she too had no choice, as decided earlier, she had taken the role of the stricter parent while Kabir was the calmer one, whose job was make their kids understand what's right and what's not.

She engulfed them both in her arms and spoke with motherly love, "Of course I forgive you both. I know you both didn't do it purposely but babies you na know your Mom doesn't like to see you both getting yourselves hurt while pranking. That's why Mom got angry. You both should do pranks, but make sure not to get yourselves in trouble. Acha now stop being so gloomy, or else your baby sibling and Mom will cry."

Both of them came out of the hug and kissed their mother's cheeks and then her baby bump. Ayaan then patted her belly and said, "Now be a good girl baby, and relax. Me and Arman never cry, we are big boys. We promise you, we'll have loads of fun when you'll come out. Love you baby sister!"

"Love you baby sister!" Arman said, joining Ayaan.

Kabir and Annie looked at each other and amusedly Annie asked her kids, "Baby sister? But how do you both know it's a baby sister?"

Arman pointed towards Kabir and said innocently, "Dada said we are getting a baby sister, haina Ayaan?"

"Haan haan, Dada told us that," Ayaan added.

Annie looked at Kabir with a 'We-Need-To-Talk' look and said softly, "Acha! That's good. Acha now go and play in your room."

Both Ayaan and Arman left for their room. Annie got up with Kabir's help and went to the living area and sat beside GM. GM stroked her hairs and asked, "So you both are done with your confrontation session?"

"Yes we are. I don't know from where they get such idea. Really innovative and unique prank it was," Kabir said while settling beside his mother.

Shilpa and Karan chuckled and Karan said, "C'mon Kabir, they are from this new generation. They're ought to be smart and creative."

"Yes they are Dad but along with that, it's risky too. I'm not talking about their today's prank but in general. From past some days, their pranks are getting more and more dangerous. I don't know what to do, maybe it's because of my carelessness," Anaisha said sadly while looking down at her fingers.

Shilpa gave her a kind smile and said understandingly, "It's not your fault Annie. There's nothing wrong with your upbringing. You and Kabir are both excellent parents and that's evident from the open relationship you share with your sons. The main reason the kids are doing such pranks is only because they feel neglected."

"Neglected? But Mom, Annie and I do our best and try to spend as much time as we could with them. How can they feel neglected even after that?" Kabir asked his mother with disbelief in his voice. He and Annie never neglected their kids, rather they were very attentive and caring parents. Even, before their kids started going to play school, Kabir and Anaisha worked on alternate days to make sure atleast one of them stayed with the kids at home. Both of them were doting and competent parents, who were doing everything they could to raise their kids in the best way possible.

Shilpa smiled and explained her point, "Oh no Kabir, you're taking it wrong. What I mean to say is, they both are just five years old boys, who with the news of their new sibling coming feel that their parents are going to ignore them. And since Annie, because of her health, can't look after their needs like before, they might be feeling that she's not giving them enough time. I know there's nothing like what the kids are thinking but you both need to make them understand that you'll never ignore them after having a new child. It's very common for kids to feel like this."

"I agree with Shilpa. For last few days I have seen these two being quite inactive and a little sad but they never say that out loud. Possibly because they are just like their father in suppressing their emotions. I think you both should talk to them, especially Kabir. I know they both always listen to you," Karan said, looking at Kabir.

Annie nodded her head in agreement and said approvingly, "I agree with you completely Dad. And Kabir, you also let them know they can have a brother too. You know GM, he told them that they are having a baby sister. I know he's preparing them for the coming baby but what if we have a boy this time too? You know how sad kids gets if something they expect doesn't take place."

GM looked at Kabir and spoke with dismay, "Kabir that's wrong beta. You shouldn't have told them this. When you talk to them after dinner, let them know this as well."

"Haan prepare them for this. Acha now enough talking about my grandsons and their shenanigans. They just two little boys! Annie, how are your cramps now? You were saying na in morning that you're having slight pain in your abdomen. Have you packed a bag for your delivery since it can be anytime now," Shilpa asked Anaisha.

Annie kept her head on Kabir's shoulder, who had moved to sit beside her and answered, "Yes Mom I have packed a small bag. Let's see when I go into labour this time."

"Hmm c'mon we all should proceed for dinner now. Karan call the kids while me and Shilpa will arrange the table," GM said as she got up from the sofa.

Karan left to call the kids, while Kabir helped Anaisha to get up. After few minutes both the boys came down and everyone proceeded with dinner. Like every night after the confrontation, Ayaan and Arman sat on either sides of Anaisha and she fed them both with her hands. Kabir sat opposite to them and while having his dinner, he admired his little family. He never believed himself to be so lucky to get such a cute and adorable family, consisting of his crazy yet loving wife and his mischievous yet caring sons. And now one more member will be added to their family shortly. Kabir really hoped for his new child to be a girl as his family will be complete then, him, his wife, their sons and their daughter. A perfect cute little family!

After the dinner, Kabir carried Anaisha to their room upstairs in his arms, as Anaisha wasn't allowed to climb down the staircase. They would've shifted to a spare room downstairs but since the kid's room was upstairs only, she preferred to remain in her room only. But while she used to be downstairs, she used the spare room as she couldn't walk much.

Kabir gave her a quick peck on her forehead, then went to help his mother in cleaning the table and prepared milk for his sons and wife. He took it upstairs and first went to his room to give Annie, her milk glass and then to his son's room. Every night, before going to bed he would talk with his sons and tell them stories of his happy days. His kids enjoyed listening to his stories. The after dinner time was usually the father-sons time and Annie wasn't allowed there to maintain the privacy as it was man to man talk.

Kabir entered his son's room and saw them sitting on Arman's bed. Their room was two rooms away from Annie and Kabir's room. With the blue walls covered with photo frames and cartoon posters, it looked perfect for two little boys. There were two separate beds for the twins along with the side tables where they kept their tiny action figures and stuff toys. There was television set as well, which was hanged on the wall with PS3 attached to it. On weekends, Kabir loved playing video games with his sons, who used to beat him in his favourite games with ease, even though they never knew Kabir purposely lost.

Both the boys were in their night clothes, since Annie had already helped them change. It was now Kabir's turn to help them brush their teeth after having milk. He went inside and sat on Arman's bed and passed them milk. Both of them took it and drank it quickly.

Kabir kept the empty glasses aside and ruffled his son's hairs. He then made them sit on his lap and said, "So big guys, will you both answer honestly if I asked you something?"

Arman was the first one to respond and said, "Of course Dada we will."

Ayaan joined him and said, "Yes yess!"

Kabir pulled them closer and without beating around the bush, asked in a serious voice, "I want to know, are both happy with your new sibling's arrival or there's something me and your mother doesn't know? I mean isn't that the only reason you both painted Duffy? Or were you two trying to get your mother's attention?"

Both the boys looked shocked and exchanged quick glances at each other. They both obviously wanted to get their mother's attention but also wanted to help Duffy. They knew their mother wasn't really keeping well and couldn't look after them all the time but they still needed her attention. And as their father asked them this question, they knew telling the truth was the best option.

So, Arman being the wiser one, started explaining in his innocent tone, "Actually Dada, we are really happy for our getting a new sibling. But since the new baby news came out, Mom got busy preparing for the baby and sadly she couldn't spend much time with us."

"We both love our yet to be born sister but Dada, what we don't like is, she's taking our Mom away from us. Earlier, Mom used to look after us all day, but now she's always tired and can't help us even with our homework. We understand that's not her fault but we miss our old days. That's why we do so many pranks since past some days so that Mom could spend more time with us," said Ayaan softly.

Continuing where his brother left, Arman said, "But our prank today backfired on us and both Duffy and Mom were upset with us. We just wanted her to be happy. We understand that she's not well but we miss having her around all the time. And we couldn't share this with her because we didn't want her to feel bad! And also, we don't want her to forget us after having a new baby!"

Kabir looked at his sons, bemused. He never expected his sons to feel like this. He knew they were mischievous but never thought they were so understanding, that they never shared their feelings because they didn't want to upset their mother. True to his father's words, they both had inherited his trait of suppressing their emotions and his insecurities too. He was glad that his parents advised him to talk to them or else he would've never known how his kids were feeling with the birth of the new baby.

He hugged them both and said fatherly, "No babies there's nothing like this. Your mother won't forget you both for even a minute. You're right that your mother isn't well but baby that doesn't mean she purposely stays busy. You know she herself feels bad for not spending time with you two, but babies that doesn't mean you'll do such crazy pranks. Your Mom loves you both to bits, and would never neglect you both. And don't worry, your mother and my wife is just amazing! She'll manage everything perfectly. Give her some time though, it'll take her few months to normalise everything but once she'll manage, everything will be back to routine."

Ayaan and Arman came out of the hug and asked excitedly, "Really Dada? But how do you know that?"

"I know that because when you both were born na, that time I, myself behaved like you two. At first I was very happy, but then I also feared that Annie would forget me after she had you two. But it was my biggest mistake to think something so stupid. Your mother and my wife is just amazing. Even after she had to look after twins, she made time for me and never complained when I acted clingy or possessive. She just handled it so well that I still feel ashamed of my insecurities. And you know, when she resumed her work, I never thought she would manage everything so perfectly. Your mother is a sorted woman who knows her priorities well. So stop worrying and promise me, you both will not do such pranks now or think like this," Kabir said as he ruffled Ayaan's hairs.

Arman and Ayaan smiled lightly and Arman said, "We promise Dada! But Dada, Mom's not angry with us na?"

"It's all okay Arman, she's not angry anymore. But next time when you want your mother to spend time with you then just go and tell her this. She's very understanding and would never judge you over anything, just like she never judged me," Kabir said remembering about all the time when he actually was a real pain for Annie but she never complained and calmly handled him and his insecurities. No one could deny that in their marriage, it was Annie who had happily made most of the compromises and never made a big deal out of it. She balanced her professional and personal lives really well which always made Kabir feel that his fears and inhibitions about marriage were baseless as unlike his mother, his wife knew where her priorities were and how to strike a perfect balance between work and family.

Arman and Ayaan nodded and were getting off Kabir's lap when Kabir said halfheartedly, "And boys, I want to make one thing clear. The coming baby, it's not confirmed whether it'll be a girl or a boy. So be prepared for both. You guys would either have a baby sister or baby brother. And it's all the same."

"No Dada! We want a sister only. Kanan Bhai has Alisha, we want our sister too. And we already have each other and our cousin brothers, so no more brothers for us. And we are tired of Mom making us play tea party with Alisha. Atleast with a sister, we won't have to do that. So we want a sister!" Ayaan groaned.

Kabir sighed and replied in ththe same tone as earlier, "I'm hoping for a daughter too but let's see. Let's pray we have a girl this!"

Ayaan and Arman gave their father supporting looks. They both patted his shoulders and just then heard a giggle. All three of them shot a glance at the source of giggles and saw Annie standing near the door with a smile on her face. She had been standing there for past ten minutes but wasn't noticed as all three of them were busy talking. She was glad that her son's misunderstanding was cleared now and happy to know they were so understanding and supportive of her. But she couldn't help giggling as she saw the sad looks on her sons and husband's face.

Seeing her standing there, Ayaan quickly got down from his father's lap and went to her. Taking her hand, he brought her inside the room and made her sit. He sat beside her and Arman too came to sit beside her. They both gave her side hugs and said, "Mom, we never wanted to make you sad. We are still very sorry!"

"Oh babies, don't be! I should've spent more time with you two. But you know, Mom can't move around much. But I promise, once the baby is born, we'll get back to pranking. And next time, don't paint someone's dog like this. I'll teach you a simple way of doing that without being caught!" Anaisha winked at her sons who looked at her with big grins.

"What? Weren't you angry at them for painting a dog? And now your saying this!" Kabir muttered in a disapproving tone.

Anaisha giggled again and said chirpily, "C'mon Kabir, I'm ought to support them. Wo toh I have to act like I'm angry infront of everyone when in real I'm so proud of my sons. They are taking their mother's legacy forward."

Kabir and the twins stared at Anaisha with amusement as neither of them could understand her well, but all three of them loved her endlessly.

She pulled her sons closer to herself and softly said, "Look boys, I've heard everything that you told your father and I just want to say, you're Dad's right. I love you both so much. You both are very special for me. Never think anything stupid like this. And there's nothing to worry about your new sibling. Whether it will be a boy or a girl, one thing is sure you both are going to be role models and he or she will always look upto you both. And how will I manage everything without you two? You'll help me na?"

"Haan haan mom we will!" Both Arman and Ayaan said in unison.

She kissed their foreheads and and said lovingly, "That's like my boys. C'mon now, be good boys and sleep."

She slowly got up from the bed. Her sons gave her goodnight kiss on her cheeks and wished her goodnight. She wished them the same and made her sons lie down. Kabir covered them with comforters and kissed their forehead. Closing the lights, they made they way to their room, shutting the door closed behind them.

Once inside the room, Anaisha sat on the bed and Kabir closed the door. He came to sit beside her and wrapped his arm around her. She kept her head on his chest and said sadly, "Mom was right Kabir, they did felt neglected. I never thought, they both would feel like this. I should've paid more attention to them."

"No Anaisha it's not your fault. Everyone knows how doting you are as a mother. It's not like you've been parenting kids for ages. They're just five years old boys, and it perfectly fine for them to feel like this. I being a grown up could feel neglected, then they are just kids. Stop being so low opinionated about yourself. Everything is fine now. So chillax now," Kabir said, squeezing her shoulder.

Anaisha smiled and replied, "Yes you are right. We should go to sleep now, I'm really very sleepy."

Kabir kissed her cheek and said, "Sure!"

He helped Anaisha lie down and placed a few pillows beside her to help her sleep peacefully. She dozed off soon after as she was actually very tired. Kabir lied down on his side and gazed at his wife. Her second pregnancy was way more tiring than her first pregnancy, even though she was expecting twins the first time. This time she was way more exhausted, but she did look cuter this time. It was her exhaustion that she took early leave from work and also couldn't look after their kids as well, as from past some weeks, she had constant pain in her legs and difficulty in sleeping too.

He was glad that his sons no longer had to fear anything and was happy that his sons, atleast were more mature than him, just like their mother. He had always hoped their kids to be more like Anaisha, because he knew, she was better than him, be it as a spouse, a parent, a daughter-in-law, a daughter or even as a doctor. She played all her roles with such ease that sometimes he did envy her. But she never judged him, she always encouraged and never made him feel that she was better than him. And that was why, he became a better person, someone who no longer dwelled or cried over his past.

He remembered what his parents had told him after Arman and Ayaan were born. After observing Anaisha for so long, they had told him that there was no chance that his marriage could ever be like theirs because Anaisha would never let that happen. She was always ready to do anything for him or her kids (something he never expected because after all she was a career oriented woman), one of the reasons why she took hiatus after Arman and Ayaan's birth and wasn't bothered with all what people said about her hiatus.

And he was grateful that she chose him over everyone else! There marriage was definitely way better than his parents, and for this Anaisha gets more credits, because if not for her, Kabir would've never dared to step out of his shell and see how truly beautiful life could be. He was lucky that she came into his life and taught him how to love.

It was around 4 in morning, when Kabir felt someone shaking him. He instantly sat up and saw Anaisha clutching her belly. He wore his specs and turned on the lights. Keeping his hand on Anaisha's shoulder, he asked anxiously, "What happened Anaisha? Are you in your labour?"

Anaisha was panting badly and between her sobs, tried to speak, "Y-Yes K-Kabir!" She gave out a yell which caused their twins come running into their parents room.

They both climbed the bed and Arman asked his father, "Dada why is Mom crying like this? Is the baby okay?"

"Arman your baby sibling just wants to come out. You both try to soothe your Mom's pain, I'll go inform GM and grandma," Kabir said while rushing out the room as it was clear now that Annie was having her labour pain.

Ayaan and Arman, both terrified seeing their mother crying and yelling in pain, still tried to soothe her pain. Arman constantly wiped the sweat beads off her forehead while Ayaan kept rubbing her back.

Five minutes later, all the elder Thapars came inside the room and Kabir quickly scooped Anaisha in his arms and strutted out. Arman and Ayaan followed him and Ayaan asked worriedly, "Dad where are you taking Mom?"

"To the hospital baby!" Kabir said while making Anaisha sit on the backseat.

Arman and Ayaan hopped inside the car beside her and said adamantly, "We are coming too!" Arman made his mother put her head on his tiny lap and Ayaan stroked her hairs. Kabir wanted to deny them but thought it was better if they accompanied them.

He settled in the driver's seat, while GM sat on the passenger seat. Shilpa sat behind, supporting Annie and smiling seeing her grandsons worrying so much for their mother. They loved her just as much as Kabir did.

Kabir started the car and soon was driving through the empty roads as it was quite early in morning. Ayaan kept stroking his mother's hairs while Arman kept wiping her tears and sweat from her forehead. At one point, Arman touched his mother's baby bump and said, "Bad baby! Don't move so much, your making Mom cry you know. It's paining her. Wait for a while we'll reach the hospital soon!"

Anaisha for a minute, forgetting her pain, kissed Arman's small hand and said, "Aww Baby, don't worry Mumma is okay! And the baby is not bad, she just wants to come out now." Kabir looked at this scene from the car mirror and knew he did the right thing by bringing the kids with them. Atleast they were distracting her a little.

Soon they reached the hospital and Anaisha was soon being wheeled into the Delivery room. Kabir wanted to accompany her, just like he did last time but Anaisha stopped him and said, "Stay with the boys. They'll be more terrified if neither of us stays by their side."

Kabir agreed and pecking her forehead said softly, "Okay! Don't worry, everything will be fine! I love you!"

"I love you too!" Anaisha said smilingly and then was wheeled inside the room for her delivery. This time too, Kabir's friend Shaina was doing Anaisha's delivery and she assured Kabir that everything will be fine.

"She'll be fine, Kabir," said Shaina assuringly.

"I know she will because you're her doctor," said Kabir and Shaina smiled and walked inside the delivery room.

Kabir went and sat beside his sons, who both were crying now because they couldn't bear to see their mother in so much pain. Kabir made them sit on his lap, and told them, "Your Mom is fine boys! Stop crying okay? All is fine!"

They both stopped crying and hugged Kabir, who rubbed their backs. Meanwhile Shilpa completed all the formalities and Karan also reached the hospital. He had stayed back to inform the Gujrals, who reached the hospital after him.

All the family members were sitting on the chairs outside the Delivery room. It's been more than three hours since Anaisha was taken inside the room. The twins were again crying as they heard their mother's painful scream from inside the room and this time Kabir didn't stop them either as he too flinched when he heard Anaisha's scream. Last time he was with her so he wasn't that scared but this time he's stuck out of the room and couldn't calm her. He just hoped that her ordeal gets over soon. He kept pacing the corridor as Anaisha's screams were increasing.

Another hour passed away, the screams stopped, and finally the door opened and Shaina came out. The Thapars and Gujrals strode over to her and she informed them, "Congratulations Kabir, it's a baby girl for you and Anaisha. Anaisha and the baby both are fine. We'll shift her to her private ward, then you guys can meet her."

Kabir thanked Shaina and hugged his sons, who too were ecstatic with the news of their new sibling being a sister. Anaisha's parents congratulated Kabir and Arnav said, "You know Kabir I feel I'm living that day again when Anaisha was born. I'm very happy for you both!"

Kabir smiled and replied, "Thanks a lot Dad! I'm really very happy but I really want to meet my baby girl and Anaisha now."

Arnav patted his shoulder and pointing behind him, said, "Looks like your wish is granted now!"

Kabir turned back and saw a nurse standing behind him. As she saw him turn, she said, "Sir, Dr. Anaisha has been shifted into room no. 304. You all can meet her now."

Kabir thanked her and taking his sons, went over to Anaisha's ward. As he entered, he looked at Anaisha, who was looking really pale but happy. He walked upto her and making his kids sit on the bed, he sat on the chair kept beside the bed. He held Anaisha's hand and asked in a caring voice, "How are you feeling Sweetheart?"

"Never been this better Kabir!" Anaisha replied immediately. She flashed him a big smile and pointed towards the baby crib. Kabir looked at it and said, "Have you seen her yet?"

"No, not yet! I want to see her for the first time with you and our sons. Pick her in your arms and bring her here Kabir," Anaisha said while ruffling Ayaan's hairs. Kabir and Anaisha always loved ruffling his blackish brown hairs as he preferred keeping them long, unlike Arman, who kept them in a neater and shorter manner.

Kabir smiled nervously and fearfully asked, "That's very sweet of you but I should pick her? I mean what if I drop her or something?"

Anaisha chuckled and said, "C'mon Kabir, you're not a first time father. It's your second time here and third time to cradle a baby in your arms. Now c'mon go, Arman, Ayaan and I really want to see her now!"

Kabir got up, nervous for holding his daughter for the first time in his arms. He walked to the crib and bent down to look at his baby girl, who was sleeping peacefully. For a minute, he felt the same contentment, the same sense of completeness which he felt during his wedding to Anaisha and after his son's birth. He felt overwhelmed due to the happiness which was flowing in his body.

Gently he took her in his arms and looked at her keenly, observing her little face. He noticed her lips curl into a smile as soon as he cradled her in his arms, even though she was sleeping. Her smile was same as his, unlike his sons who both have inherited their mother's smile and chocolatey brown eyes.

Carefully, he strutted towards Annie and passed her their little bundle of joy. Anaisha took her in her arms, and their sons, who were sitting on the bed with Anaisha, gazed at her with awe as they had never seen a baby before. Both of them lightly caressed her cheeks, as she shifted in her mother's arms.

Anaisha kissed her daughter's forehead softly and spoke with a teary smile, "She the cutest baby girl I've ever seen in my life!"

Kabir gently caressed her cheeks and said with fatherly pride, "Yes she is!"

Arman and Ayaan, scared that they might hurt her, just kept looking at her. Though Ayaan wanted to cradle her, but Arman denied him knowing well they weren't old enough to hold a baby.

As their family members came inside, one by one everyone cradled the little angel. First GM held her, then Khushi, then Shilpa and so on. At last she was given back to Anaisha, who was still overwhelmed with emotions and kept staring at baby girl with motherly love.

GM then asked Anaisha, "So beta, have you thought any name for her yet? Or are we just going to call her 'Angel'?"

"I had thought a name earlier but Kabir didn't like it, so dropped it. But I have thought a new name now," Anaisha said with a small smile.

"So tell us which name you have thought for our little angel?" Shilpa asked Anaisha while lightly stroking her granddaughter's cheeks.

Anaisha glanced at her baby girl, who was still sleeping peaceful with a sweet smile on her face, and then said while looking at Kabir, "Our angel will be called, Kayra Thapar!"

Kabir stared at Anaisha with love in his eyes as he heard the name for their daughter. It was true, the first name Anaisha had thought before, was rejected by Kabir but not because he didn't like it but because he was scared. While Anaisha was pregnant, she had one night told Kabir that if they had a daughter, then she want to name her after Kabir's deceased sister Samyra. But Kabir rejected that idea directly because he feared that if he named his daughter after his sister, then who knows, like his sister, his daughter too left them and Kabir's no longer strong to face one more loss. Since Anaisha knew Kabir was right to be so scared, she didn't push the matter more and decided to name their child after his initial. And decided to mix Kabir and Samyra's name and came up with the name Kayra.

"That's such a beautiful name! Kayra means beloved or princess, haina Anu?" Lehar asked Anaisha.

"Yes Bhabhi, Kayra means beloved or princess," Anaisha answered.

Aarav put his hand on Kabir's shoulder and said happily, "She's definitely going to be everyone's princess, just like our Annie. Okay, we can continue talking later, it's picture time now. C'mon Kabir go and sit beside Annie, Arman and Ayaan are already beside her and Kayra is in her arms. We need to immortalise this moment in camera."

Kabir smiled and went to sit beside Annie. Arman then went and sat with Kabir while Ayaan sat on Annie's side. Kabir wrapped one arm around Annie and other around Arman. Aarav smiled at them and took the first picture of Kayra with her parents and elder brothers. A perfect family moment!

After some more pictures were clicked, Kayra was carefully made to lie in her crib again. Kabir's parents left for home to prepare lunch for Annie and everyone else. Arman and Ayaan stubbornly denied going home, and so were now sleeping on the couch kept in the room. Anaisha's parents had stayed back and were informing their relatives of their granddaughter's birth. Aarav and Lehar went home too some minutes back and GM accompanied them as she was quite old now to exhaust herself so much.

It was just Anaisha and Kabir in the room and their kids. Kabir was lovingly gazing at his daughter, while Annie was relaxing. He then got up and covered his sons with blanket and went to sit beside Annie. Caressing her cheeks, Kabir whispered to Annie, "Thank you Annie!"

"For what Kabir?" Anaisha asked with surprise in her voice. She was confused as to why Kabir was thanking her.

"For everything Annie. For coming into my life, for fighting with me, for becoming my friend, for falling in love with me, for marrying me, for giving me the most adorable kids and lastly for never leaving me alone!" Kabir whispered the last part, as tears came into his eyes.

Anaisha immediately cupped his face and said lovingly, "C'mon Kabir, don't say thanks to me. We're in this together, don't forget that! And anyway, our kids are adorable because their father is really very handsome! Haan not as much good looking as my father or RK, but still!" She winked at him, making Kabir laugh.

Kabir took her hands in his and said, "Remember the first time we met and how crazily we fought with each other?"

"Haan I do! But the only thing that makes me sad is, I never got a chance to take my revenge on you. Instead I ended up becoming friends with you right after our fight," mumbled Anaisha with fake sadness.

Kabir smiled a little and said cheesily, "You did get your revenge on me, Anaisha. You stole my heart and never returned it back. That's the best revenge you could have taken on me!"

Anaisha blushed and said, "That's the cheesiest line I have ever heard from you Kabir. But I like this cheesy Kabir, because this Kabir is only and only mine! And I love you more than anything in life, though I love my kids too!"

Kabir pulled her cheeks and said lovingly, "I love you too and our kids as well. Our family is complete now, you, me, our sons and our little angel!"

Anaisha joined her forehead with his and soon Kabir captured her lips in his. Their life together was perfect now! True, Kabir had to undergo a tormented childhood and youth, but that was necessary because God had already planned to give him Anaisha, who filled his life with love and happiness, while loving him unconditionally.
