Chapter 27 || The Last Date
Annie sighed as she saw her bags packed and ready for leaving. After four hours of packing, she was at last done with it. She arranged her luggage in a neat manner and checked one last time if anything was left for packing.
Once done, she sat down on her bed and picked up her teddy bear, Beany and hugged him. While hugging him, she whispered to Beany as if he'll hear what she's saying, "You know what Beany, I'm gonna miss everyone so much. I really don't want to go but then this is important. This will take me closer to my dream, of becoming a Paediatric Oncologist. So I have to go. But I'll miss everyone and....Kabir! You know it's so hard to convince myself that from tomorrow I won't see Kabir waiting for me in his car in front of our gate, he won't drop me home, we won't go on date every weekend and most importantly I won't get those warm hugs everyday.
"But I have to be strong or else how will I be able to go? And as much as hard it is for me, for Kabir it must be even harder. You know he hasn't spend time with me since last one week. I know he's just trying to get used to not having me around but still he shouldn't behave like this. But surprisingly I'm not angry or upset with him, maybe because I too couldn't muster up courage to go and see him knowing well that I would eventually break down. Anyway, I just hope these three years pass soon and me and Kabir will stay together for the rest of our lives, you know like happily ever after."
She was sitting in the same position when her sister-in-law entered her room with Anaisha's favourite chocolate in her hands and sat beside her.
She stroked her hairs and said in a motherly manner, "So you're done with your packing. Anything left baby? Have you kept all the things you'll be needing? And your books, what about them? And warm clothes..."
As Leher was asking Anaisha all this, Anaisha giggled, interrupting her. Leher looked at Annie with puzzled expression and raised her eyebrows, asking her what's wrong.
Anaisha stopped giggling and said assuringly, "Bhabhi, you're talking like mom and Aarav Bhai you know. They have asked me this numerous times and I know their going to ask me this till the I board ny flight. Chillax Bhabhi, I've packed everything. Even if I forgot something, then no issues, I'll buy it. London is not new for me. I've been there before too, for five years. I'll be fine."
Annie averted her gaze at the floor to avoid crying infront of Leher. She'd been trying hard not to break down in front of her family, as this time it was emotionally harder for her to go.
Leher smiled and said comfortingly, "Of course they will ask you all that again and again. After all, we all that care for you. And please don't try to act strong in front of me. I've been through the same. I know Annie what you must be feeling. I went through the same when I was going for my PG in Australia. You know what, though its difficult and really painful but this is the time when you'll get to know how strong you are.
"I know, how much worried you are for your relationship but this distance will also bring out the strength of your and Kabir's love is and the trust you both have on each other. Being in a long distance relationship is not easy, you need to be firm on your decision and have to fights urges to go back. But I know you and Kabir will survive it. You guys have been together for some 7 months now, but the seriousness and commitment that takes years to build, is evident in your relationship already. You should be happy about it and feel proud. You're lucky Anu! Don't be gloomy now. This phase will pass soon!"
Annie looked at her and said with a small smile, "Thank you Bhabhi! I hope what you're saying be true!"
Leher side hugged her and passed her the chocolate. Annie ate it and made Leher have it too. Leher looked at her and asked, "How's Kabir's doing now?"
Annie took a bite of the chocolate and answered in a sad tone, "He's doing fine. But I know he's just pretending that he's okay. He's upset but he won't show it. And that's why I am more anxious about him. He doesn't share his emotions with anyone na. In fact he's not even spending much time with me, though I understand that but..."
Leher rubbed her arms and said soothingly, "I know he's very reserved and bottles up his feelings but don't worry he'll be fine. So what happened if he haven't spent time with you, go and spend time with him now. It's 8 o'clock now so you can go and spend at least 2 hours with him and come back. And you can also give him the gifts for which you have worked so hard. You are leaving tomorrow morning so go and spend time with him and give him those gifts as tomorrow you won't get much time na. He'll be happy with it."
Annie nodded her head and said agreeingly, "You're right Bhabhi! I should go and meet him and his family. And I'll give those gifts as well."
She quickly got up and changed her dress. She wore a pretty and simple baby pink, floral print dress with straps and chose matching kitty heels. She lightly brushed her hairs and pinned her hairs on one side, just like how Kabir liked. She didn't put on make up, just lip balm and kohl.
She looked at her sister-in-law and asked her, "How do I look Bhabhi?"
Leher got up from the bed and looked at Annie. She pulled Annie's cheeks and said, "You look too cute! Kabir is surely going to feel sorry for not hanging out with all this time. Now go fast or else once your brothers come, they won't let you go without teasing. And haan don't forget to give Kabir your gifts. I'll tell Aarush to pick you up."
Annie hugged her Bhabhi and picked up her bag, quickly leaving for Kabir's house.
Kabir was sad! Not just sad he was upset with himself. Anaisha was going to leave for Boston tomorrow and he hadn't spent even a minute with her since last one week. It wasn't because he wasn't happy with her going, but because he didn't know how to make himself accept this fact that Anaisha will be gone for three whole years! It wasn't easy for him to come to terms with this.
He loved her and knew well that his love for her was not like puppy love, rather it was eternal, that hamesha wala (forever) true love. And this was why it was tougher for him. He wasn't an immature teenager who would cry to his friends and family that his girlfriend's going away. He's a grown up man and knew he couldn't act like that because firstly that wouldn't be like him and secondly if Anaisha knew how much sad he was, she wouldn't like it all.
Since the time he got to know about Anaisha's scholarship, he had slowly tried to distance himself from her, like cutting down his time with her, working more hours, not going on dates every weekend, keeping himself busy even at home, and at last not talking or meeting to her at all for a week. Not hearing her harmonious voice, her melodious laugh, her bright and heart warming smile, her soul piercing eyes, and her soothing presence, it was unbearable.
It was like hell for him but he knew he had to stay strong on his decision or else, it will hard for her to go. All the earlier times, whenever Kabir distanced himself from her, it was for himself, but this time it was for her. He knew he was making her weak, and that's why he decided not to let that happen, at any given cost.
After coming back from hospital, he was sitting in his balcony, drinking his same old black coffee. It was a tiring day for him, well all the days in last one month have been tiring for him because Anaisha's internship got over around a month back and she had stopped coming to hospital for regular work hour, rather she used to come during lunch time with food for him everyday over the one month. But this week Kabir didn't meet her only. Poor girl had to go back without having lunch with him.
He wished he could spend all his time with Annie but it was for her only and he didn't want her to become frail at this time, even if it meant he had to stay away from her for some time.
Finishing up his coffee, he freshened up and went to join his family for dinner. His family was very close to being a normal happy family and he was grateful to Anaisha for that. If not for her, then this would've never been possible.
He went to the dining area and sat on his usual place. He was starting his dinner with his family when the doorbell rang. He was about to get but Shilpa made him sit and went to open the door. Kabir sat back and waited for his mother to come back and resume her meal.
Shilpa opened the door and smiled seeing Annie standing there with a sweet grin on her face.
"Hello aunty!" chirpied Annie.
Shilpa smiled and replied, "Hello beta. C'mon come in and join us for dinner. We were about to start."
Annie tried to deny and said, "No aunty it's okay. I just came to meet you all."
Shilpa chuckled and said lightheartedly, "I know well for whom you came here. He's also having dinner. C'mon join us now. You'll be gone for three years, at least have dinner with us."
Annie couldn't deny and agreed.
She moved inside with Shilpa and greeted Karan. Karan greeted her back and asked her to take her seat.
Anaisha didn't know where to sit so Shilpa made her sit beisde Kabir and took her sit next to Karan. GM wasn't around as she had went to visit one of her sister who's not keeping well since a long time.
Kabir looked at her and she passed him a smile.
He passed her smile in return and resumed his dinner without uttering even a word. Kabir felt a little embarrassed and uneasy with Annie's presence. It was a bit ironical as all this time he kept avoiding her but in the end she herself came to meet him.
Karan and Shilpa noticed the uneasiness and silence between the two and Karan gave Kabir a questioning look. Kabir just blinked his eyes in assurance that everything's okay. Anaisha too didn't say anything.
She then noticed that Karan and Shilpa looked very much comfortable and at ease with each other. Even Kabir looked really at ease and friendly with his parents. She smiled inwardly thinking about his family's reconciliation and prayed to God to keep them like this for the rest of their lives and always keep them happy and blessed.
As they were done with the dinner, Shilpa received a call from her cousin, whose son had met with an accident and since there was no other family there, Shilpa and Karan left for the hospital. Before leaving, they both wished Anaisha all the best for her future and gave her their blessings. She accepted their blessings happily and thanked them.
Kabir and Annie got up from their seats and Annie followed him to the living area. Anaisha thought maybe Kabir would talk to her but in fact he went and sat on the couch kept opposite to her. They both were sitting opposite to each other and neither of them knew how to start the conversation. Kabir was still uncertain how to apology to her about his stupid behaviour.
Seeing Kabir not saying anything Anaisha decided to break the silence. She got up from her place and went to sit beside him.
She kept her head on his shoulder and whispered with tones of vulnerability and complain, "I'm going to miss you a lot, Kabir! I'll really miss you! I know why you were avoiding me for so long but Kabir this is not fair. We should've spent as much time as we could but you ignored me."
Kabir was a little taken aback with this. He expected Anaisha to be miffed with him but she wasn't. Knowing well that his silence was of useless, he wrapped his arms around her and said apologetically, "I'm sorry Anaisha! But I thought it was necessary. You and I, both need to get used to not being around each other. But I guess it was of no use. I really love you Anaisha and I'm going to miss you a lot more than you will miss me!"
Anaisha looked up and saw his dejected eyes. She hugged him tightly while he buried his face in her neck. They both sat like that for a few minutes. Kabir then got up and pulled Annie up with himself. He took her hand and led her to his room while Annie was confused.
Inside his room, he made her sit on his recliner and went towards the cupboards while Anaisha remained puzzled. He opened his cupboard and took out a blue rectangular velvet box in his hands. He went back to her with the box in his hand.
He kneeled down in front of her and opened the box. The box contained a simple platinum chain with a beautiful pendant on which their first name initials were carved, decorated with diamonds. He took it out of the box and said hesitatingly, "I wanted to give this tomorrow morning but I guess I should gift this now only. May I?" He asked her permission for making her wear it.
Annie nodded still in awe of it and mumbled a yes. Kabir made her stand in front of the mirror and moved her hairs towards her right shoulder, exposing her neck and back to him. When his cold fingers came in contact with her skin, a shiver ran down her spine. It felt like as if an electric current passed through her. She closed her eyes as Kabir was trying to clasping the chain. Once he was done with the chain clasps, he looked in the mirror and saw Anaisha smiling with tears in her eyes. He bent his head and dropped a small his on her nape.
Anaisha turned around and hugged him tightly. His arms too find their way around her waist. He gripped her closer and said romantically, "I wanted to give you this on your final day of internship but couldn't do so. So thought to give this as your farewell gift. Waise I could've added a T in it, you know it would stand for Anaisha Kabir Thapar, but then I thought why not wait for some time before that actually happens. I hope you like it..."
Annie came out of the hug and saw him blushing slightly. She smiled nervously and said shyly, "Thank you, Kabir! This neck piece is really beautiful!"
Kabir looked up and replied, "Your welcome sweetheart. But I have to say its beauty is nothing in comparison to you!"
Annie blushed a little more and asked with a playful glint in her eyes, "Umm... can I tell you something Kabir?"
Kabir nodded his head. Anaisha pressed her lips together and whispered, "Anaisha Kabir Thapar sounds better than Anaisha Gujral. I won't mind changing my last name but only on one condition that you'll propose me in the most romantic manner."
Kabir smiled on hearing her say that and said humourously, "Of course I will, sweetheart. You're knight in shining armour, no, actuallly knight in white lab coat is more suitable. So anyway you're knight in white lab coat will surely fulfill your condition in some time soon. After all I'm a knight and I have to save the world from your craziness na."
Anaisha slapped his arms playfully and laughed along with Kabir. Annie then looked at him and whispered, "Thank you!"
Kabir gave her muddled look and asked, "For what?"
Anaisha gazed at at him lovingly and exclaimed emotionally, "For all the things you have done for me Kabir!"
Kabir narrowed his gaze and said in a dramatically hurt tone, "Huh! That's nothing in comparison to what you have done for me. In just one second you made me a stranger! Only this was left na!"
Anaisha giggled and pulled his cheeks causing him to chuckle as well. She said after a pause of few minutes, "You know mom and Leher Bhabhi are right! I'm really lucky that I got you in my life. I love you and I trust you more than my life!"
Kabir kissed her forehead and said, "I love you too Annie and yeah I trust you the most in my life!" He hugged her again, living his time with her.
After some time, they both were sitting in his balcony, enjoying the chocolates that Kabir got for her, when Anaisha opened her bag to took out two boxes. In midst of all their romance and teasing, she forgot for what she came here for. There were two neatly wrapped gifts which looked like a book and a small square box.
She forwarded it to Kabir and said smilingly, "This is for you Kabir. I actually came here to give you this. It's kind of a thank you gift from me."
Kabir tried to return her gifts and said denyingly, "Anaisha what's the need for this. I have you, and you're the best gift that I could ask for. Then why this?"
Anaisha frowned and then pleaded with a puppy dog face, "Uffo Kabir, it's a gift na. Please accept it Bir! Please!"
Kabir couldn't refuse her puppy dog face and accepted the gifts. She asked him to open the gifts which he agreed to do on her insistence.
He opened the first gift which was looking like a book. It was a photo album. He unwrapped it completely and saw the text written on its cover and front page.
It said, 'The Best Moments of My Life Spent with My True Love, Kabir!' He looked at her and she grinned at him. It was a handmade album, actually a scrapbook with their pictures. He got excited to see what was there and quickly opened the book.
He opened the album and saw the first page; it had pictures of their childhood. He really couldn't believe that they had a few pictures clicked together as kids. In one of the picture a seven year old Kabir was holding a year old Anaisha carefully in his arms. In another picture, she was seated between him and Aarav, in another picture he was making silly faces with her crazy siblings and cousins.
He swiftly turned pages to see more pictures. While turning the pages, one picture caught his eyes and made him really emotional. It was the picture of Anaisha and Samyra with him. He was sitting between his baby sister and his darling girlfriend. He must be 10 then. Amongst all the pictures so far, this picture was the best as the two most important people were together with him, one his heartbeat and other, his life!
All the pictures had a beautiful caption written with them along with the date they were taken on. He caressed his sister's face and smiled. He turned the page and saw some more pictures of Anaisha and Samyra with him.
He caressed the pictures and said emotionally, "Thank you so much Anaisha! I never thought that I'll ever be able to see you and Samyra together with me in one frame ever. Thanks a lot!"
Anaisha pouted and said sheepishly, "No, don't say thanks to me. I made this for you because I didn't know what to get you so mom gave me the idea for this scrapbook."
Kabir replied playfully, "Ohh....I must say my future mother-in-law knows me well. By the way, from where did you get these pictures?"
Anaisha replied immediately, "From an old asylum! Obviously if this was mom's idea then she's the one who gave me these pics. You know I was as shocked as you when I found this picture of three of us. After you told me about Samyra, I asked mom about Samyra, and my mom said that me and Samyra were really close friends and after her death, it took my parents around a month to make me play with other kids as I refused to play with anyone else than Samyra! It's heart breaking that I didn't remember one of my closest friends. And you or others never reminded me of her before."
Kabir took her hands in his and said in a tender voice, "I was unable to bring myself to talk about Samyra with anyone else before I met you. You're the first person I was able to pour my heart's deepest secrets to. And about Samyra I thought it was of no help to remind you of Samyra when you don't even remember anything about her. But I guess that was wrong!"
Anaisha fell silent and just told Kabir to see the pictures. Kabir then flipped through some more pictures and his eyes popped out when he saw the pictures of their first meeting. Both of them were covered in coffee and chocochip pastries.
He looked at Anaisha with surprise and she replied, chuckling, "Shivam had clicked it that day because he thought I was looking cute. Though I was angry at him at first but now I'm grateful to him for this." Kabir smiled and both of them together went through the remaining picture.
The scrapbook had pictures from their childhood and the recent ones. There were pictures of their first meeting, the medical camp, his birthday, her birthday, Aarav's wedding, their groupie with Zaina, Rohan and Nikhil after Kabir returned from the airport, their first date, her picture with his family on his parents' wedding anniversary, her last date with him, her last day of internship and the pictures in which he gave her the award for being the best intern through the session, as she requested her uncle to let Kabir present her the award.
These pictures had captured all the moments, either small or big, so perfectly with a suitable caption that Kabir had no words to describe it. He was speechless with his sweetheart's efforts for him. It was like that she had illustrated their love story through these pictures. He felt like he had relived all those moments again with her.
After seeing all the pictures, he thanked her, whimpering a little, "Thanks a lot Anaisha! This means a lot to me. And I'm really sorry for not spending time with you before."
Anaisha cupped his face and said, "Please don't apologise Kabir. I'm okay with it. I'm just glad that you liked it. Okay now open this gift."
She passed him the other gift and he opened it. It was an expensive watch which was actually a limited edition one he was trying to get. Only 100 models of this watch were manufactured. For someone like him who was watch fetish, getting this watch was important. What he wasn't aware of was that his girlfriend already knew about this and with her daddy dearest help got this watch for him.
He gasped looking at the watch and said with surprise, "How did you got this watch? I was trying so hard to get this."
Anaisha giggled looking at his shocked face and explained, "Well that day when you were talking to Bhai about this watch, I overheard you and asked Dad to help me get this. It's more like a gift from my parents to you for loving their daughter so much!"
He gave a small smile. He looked at the watch one last time then kept the watch back in its case and said straightforwardly, "Tell them I'm very much grateful to them for this but I can't take this Annie. It's an expensive watch and I wanted to buy it on my own. Your parents have already given me you. I can't take this please."
Anaisha pouted and said in a tone of complaining, "Acha now this is expensive and what about that day when you made accept your GM's ring (pointing towards her promise ring) and you made me take it as her Aashirwad (blessing). Please accept it na Kabir. For them you're like their own son. So just think your parents gifted this to you. Please!"
Kabir denied for few more times but then he had to give in her demand. But he made her promise that she won't force him to wear it until he doesn't feel like.
She promised him and said defiantly, "Okay I won't force you to wear this unless and until you yourself feel like wearing it. But you know when you'll wear this watch, I'll be very happy as this is first gift I got for you which you can keep with you all the time. Whenever you'll look at the watch, you'll remember me and our love, just like I think of you when I look at my ring and now this necklace."
Kabir halfheartedly smiled at her and replied, "Sure I will. But I don't think so I'll need to do that because after three years, you'll be with me for the rest of my life."
Anaisha looked at him and said in a sort of stance, "Who knows Kabir what will happen in these years and future. Anything is possible. In just one second your entire world can turn upside down and you couldn't do anything."
Kabir looked at her with fearful eyes and said sternly, "Why are you saying this Anaisha? Nothing is going to happen! So please don't talk like that."
Anaisha looked at him and slapped her forehead. She then held his hands in her and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean that. I just wanted to feel like the heroine of those tragic books that I have read. Acha I won't say like that. Bas? Happy now?"
Kabir still not sure but said affectionately, "Yes. It's better if we don't talk about such stuff now. The books you have read are fictions and there's a big difference between fiction and reality. Our reality will be like how you want it to be filled with happiness and affection. So stop worrying."
She nodded and hugged him for one last time while he held her firmly in his hold. It was like as if his life depended on this hug. Coming out of the hug, Anaisha said, "I should go home now Kabir. It's gonna be 10 and then it's a morning flight. Aarush must be on his way."
Kabir insisted on dropping her home but Aarush already arrived. Kabir noticed her tearful eyes when she moved out of the hug. He wiped her tears and kissed her forehead. She weakly smiled at him and bid him bye. She got in her car and left for her home with Aarush. While in the car, Aarush sensing her gloominess, turned on the radio and her favourite song was on, Iktara was playing. Anaisha soon lost herself to her memories with Kabir as the song played.
After Anaisha left for her home, an hour later, Kabir's parents came back home from hospital. Kabir was sitting quietly in the garden when his dad approached him.
"Hey son! So how was your little date with Annie? I hope she loved her gift," asked Karan.
Kabir lightly smiled at his father and said with sadness evident in his tone, "Yeah it was good. She loved the necklace. She got me an expensive watch and made a scrapbook for me with all our pictures together. There are some pictures of Samyra as well. It's the best I ever got. I'm going to miss her, dad."
Karan patted his shoulder and said with fatherly pride, "Don't worry son, these three years will pass soon. I know, my son and his love have the power to survive this distance relationship."
Kabir pressed his lips together and nodded his head. He'd miss her a lot more than she'll do. He loved her more than anything in his life. If it was in his power he would've never let her go but he doesn't want to hold her back and her weakness. He rather wanted to be her strength. And hoped he would be able to keep always strong and never make frail because of his love for her.
Anaisha was sitting on her bed and was playing with her pendant that Kabir gifted her.
Her parents came and sat on either side of hers. Her parents gave her hugs from both the sides. Khushi noticed Anaisha's necklace and said looking at her baby's pendant, "Kabir has a really good choice, doesn't he?" She signaled Arnav to look at Anaisha's pendant while Anaisha blushed.
"Yeah he has, otherwise why would he have chosen my daughter!" Arnav exclaimed proudly.
Khushi and Anaisha giggled and Arnav joined them as well.
Arnav after controlling his laugh, said, "But jokes apart princess, Kabir really is the right guy for you. And I'm happy for you both."
"Yes your dad's right. I know your worried about your career and your relationship but don't worry this time will pass soon and you two will be together after that. He loves so much Annie that's why he's not holding you back," Khushi added agreeingly.
Anaisha nodded her head and said with a sigh, "I know mom, I'm hoping for that only, mom."
Arnav realizing the sentimental situation, said with a fake sad face, "I'm still upset princess that I wasn't the first person to know about your scholarship. Anyway why would you remember your dad when you have such an amazing boyfriend?"
Anaisha giggled and pulling her dad's cheeks the same way she used to do when she was a kid and said gleefully, "Aw dad! No matter how much amazing or adorable my boyfriend is, you'll always be the most handsome man in my life and my first love and hero!" Arnav smiled and hugged his daughter.
Khushi pouted and said, "Yeah yeah why would you two remember me? Carry on with your hug!"
They both pulled her in a group hug and then heard her brothers and sister-in-law say, "And us?" The entire family then shared a big family hug and talked for some time before heading for their beds as Annie's flight was of 11 o'clock next day.
"Passport?" "Checked!"
"Tickets?" "Checked!"
"Bags?" "Checked!"
"Toothpas...," Khushi was about to complete that when Anaisha interrupted her rudely, "Mom this is the hundredth time you're asking me this! And c'mon mom what's the use of asking this. We're about to reach the airport! So even if I forgot something, you won't be able to get me that! So chillax!"
Arnav just rolled his eyes at his wife's antics. No matter how much grown and old their kids be Khushi won't stop fussing over them!
Khushi pouted and said defensively, "Baby last time you weren't alone, Aarush was there with you but this time you're going alone. So obviously I'm ought to be worried na."
Arnav chuckled a little and said sarcastically, "Yeah but Khushi there's hardly any difference as your dear son was mostly in coma state so my daughter had to manage everything!"
Anaisha agreed with him and they both burst into splits. Khushi just rolled her eyes then joined them in laughing.
They soon reached the airport and Anaisha was standing in the visiting of the airport with Rhea, Nikhil and Yuvraj and their respective families. Nikhil was joining his former college for his PG in London so he too was leaving with them. Only Shivam and Neha were doing their PG in India.
The elders were busy talking and the youngsters were waiting for their friends and respective partners. Their friends still hadn't reached the airport and there were only 15 minutes left for them to go for immigration and all.
They all were looking for their friends, when Rhea saw Shivam, Neha and along with them Rohan and Zaina and informed Yuvraj and Anaisha about their arrival.
Excited, Anaisha looked for Kabir, but he was nowhere to be seen. She felt like crying as she was about to go and Kabir still hadn't reached the airport. But she couldn't think more as Rohan and Zaina pulled her in a group hug. They told her how much they're gonna miss her and how much they love her. She'd really miss these two idiots. Her childhood besties! They stayed in that hug for a few minutes then parted.
She then kept looking at entrance and checking her watch for time. She was upset and feared that she'll have to leave without meeting Kabir.
Nikhil, who was observing, wrapped his hands around her shoulders and muttered softly, "Don't worry, he'll be here soon. Maybe stuck in a jam or something. You'll leave only after meeting him."
Anaisha nodded her head and pressed her lips in agreement but she was fearing in her heart. Though there was a little awkwardness between them after Anaisha got to know about his feelings for her but Nikhil made her understand that he was over her and it was mere attraction, a small crush. Though it wasn't completely true but yeah he had decided to forget his feelings for her. He knew well that Anaisha's made for Kabir only and maybe one day, he'll find the girl who'll be meant just for him.
The immigration for their flight was about to start and still there was no sign of Kabir. Her dad muttered to her seeing her sad face, "Don't be so gloomy baby. He must've been busy that's why he couldn't come. You know na he loves you and doesn't like it when you're dull and down. So cheer up girl."
She just smiled at her father a weak smile. She so wanted to hug Kabir and meet him before she board her flight.
The announcement was made and all four of them were about to go for the immigration when Nikhil saw Kabir coming.
Kabir was highly irritated as his girlfriend was at the airport and he was stuck in a jam. He cursed his fate. If this jam didn't clear then he won't be able to see her off. And this wasn't exactly why he reached hospital at 5 in morning to wrap his work so that he could meet Anaisha.
His girlfriend's sad face from last night made him punch the steering wheel in frustration. She must be so much upset with him not being there to see her off. He requested God to not test his patience today and let him meet her before her flight took off!
Yet he was still stuck in jam. He would've left earlier if that emergency hadn't turn up. But his good luck, the traffic cleared soon and he reached the airport on time. While going towards the visiting area, he hoped in his heart that she hadn't left yet. He felt relieved when spotted her but the very next minute heard the announcement for immigration. He speed up his pace and quickly moved towards her.
Nikhil faked a cough to grab his friends' attention and motioned his eyes towards Kabir's direction. They all suppressed their smiles. Zaina made a serious face and spoke with a bittersweet tone, "You guys should go now. It's time for your immigration. All the best guys! Study hard! Happy Journey!"
Rhea and Yuvraj said in unison, "Yeah Zaina, you're right. We should go now. Thanks a lot for your wishes!"
They all hugged their family members and friends for the last time. Anaisha sadly hugged her parents and Rohan. She was coming out of the hug she was sharing with Zaina when someone engulfed her in his arms. She was surprised at first but then recognised. She tightened her grip on him and he did the same.
He whispered into her ears, "Sorry for being late, was stuck in jam. All the best baby! Do your best! I love you and I'll miss you a lot!"
Anaisha snuggled more into him and said hoarsely, "I thought I would leave without meeting you. But thank God you came on time. I love you too and will miss you!"
They broke apart after a couple of minutes and Kabir dropped a kiss on her forehead. She bid byes to everyone and left for the immigration. Kabir stood beside her parents and watched her leave. Khushi side hugged him and blinked her eyes in assurance, telling him everything will be fine. Anaisha turned back for one last time and smiled at her family, friends and her love. She'll miss them a lot more than she did last time!
