Chapter 3

The vision of a tall man stood over me, his large hands clasped over mines. "Don't wake up little one."
My eyes glared for a moment, before they softened. White, fluttering wings expanded from either side of him, his hands were a bright peach and his body was slim but bulky. "Why?" I asked, squinting at the bright white aura surrounding him. He spread his wings, covering me, but before I could say anything, I let out a gasp, filling my lungs with air, and opened my eyes.
There I saw a man bending over me, tears dropping onto my shirt from his chin. "Why?" He questioned, his eyes closed.
"Excuse me sir?" I asked in an awkwardly hoarse town, and I felt sticky, and when I looked at my hands, they were coated with blood. The man's eyes opened slowly, staring at me, and sat up, and grabbed my hands tightly in his warm grip, as if checking if I was really there.
"Bella... Bella!" He yelled and hugged me, his face full of glee.
"W-Who are you?" I stammered, startled by the sudden hug. My head was spinning so much that I felt I would faint. "Why are you hugging me?"
"I'm Ark. How do you not remember? Are you really there?" He asked, holding my shoulders, squeezing them.
And that's when memories flashed through my mind. Memories of a tall figure with hazel eyes hugging me as he left the door, me facing Ark in an army line. I looked so... simple. That's when understanding washed over me. "Ark...." I smiled and hugged him, but then squinted and let go.
"We better get you to the on field nurses until we could get you medical help." Ark avoided my gaze and helped me up. Giada stood at the edge of my vision, leaning against Marsellie with her leg wrapped up. She looked disappointed and when Ark approached her with my arm around his shoulders, she looked down.
"You nearly died and I could do nothing about it." She looked up at me with a hard stare. "Why do it when you knew it would put yourself in danger?"
"I-I wanted to protect you." I closed my eyes, and she stared at my chest. "Wait how.... Your wound is almost closed. How is that?"
My feet shuffled against the ground slightly, and then I stopped, squinting my eyes. Ark raised an eyebrow as he turned to look at me. "Bella what's wrong? You are not acting like your usual self."
That knocked me off a bit. I only had portions of memories of him, and here he is saying I am the odd one. "Umm are you sure about that?"
Ark's face went from a quirky looking smile to a frown and pale with a hint of anger. "Have you lost your mind? You are talking to me as if I was your enemy or bully. I am chief under Marsellie, and you are one of the top fighters in the army."
The words I heard all just sounded like poop to me. I did not understand any of the words he spoke. It sounded like gibberish. My body leaned to one side, and I suddenly felt light headed, and Ark caught me. "Maybe you just hit your head. You'll be better soon." His voice seemed smooth, but also had a tint of worry and fear and I could just pick up the most tiny bit of it.
As we limped on, I thought we looked like a funny lot. We were either carrying each other, or holding on to one another. But just as I had seen on my hands, blood splattered the floor as if it were paint. Ark led me away from it, leading me to a white tent that was in the shape of a square. Once inside, Ark and the nurse had a silent conversation among themselves, before they walked back over to me.
"How are you feeling today miss?" The nurse asked.
"I don't know." My shoulders shrugged at the question. "Everything was just a blur today."
"A blur, ma'am?" She quickly wrote down the notes, while listening to me talk.
"Yes. It feels like my memory just began again when I woke up to him." I pointed towards Ark, who was kneeling over at a table, looking as if he was praying. "Before that..." My eyes searched around the room for words. "It was like a dream. An angel stood before me and told me not to open my eyes, but I woke up.... As if I hadn't heard him at all."
"Don't lie to us." Ark shook his head, sending his hair into his face. "How long have you been training?"
"Longer then I think?" It was more of a question then a statement. I still had no idea what was going on, and the idea of war was making me sick to my stomach.
Ark shook his head in disbelief, and walked out of the room seeming to want to not talk anymore.
My heart began to ache, and I lay my head on Giada. It hurt to watch him go for some reason, and I wanted to cry, so I closed my eyes and fell asleep standing.
