Part 2

Neko and Kapp made camp on a hill.

Neko looked at Kapp. ¨Ok. Sensei told me that there is some sort of evil thing awakening. We need to stop it, and I'm pretty sure that the demigod hunters would be a good first target.¨

Neko said. ¨Good idea,¨ Kapp replied, ¨But you'll need a weapon first.¨

Kapp dug through his backpack, ¨Hold on a sec... oh! Got it!¨ Kapp handed Neko something wrapped in leather. Neko opened it. It was a knife in a bright, jeweled case.

Neko blushed, ¨Oh, um, thanks! I was wondering where I would get a weapon.¨ Kapp was digging around in his pack again.

He pulled out a belt, ¨Oh, take this too. You can clip the knife to it.¨

Neko put on the belt and clipped on the knife ¨Ok, let's go.¨

Neko had no trouble finding the demigod hunter's base. After all, Neko thought, why make a big mansion with the symbol of the gods that could be easily spotted from the top of a hill? Neko got a piece of paper out of her pack. She drew a arch with an X on the top.

"We are here." She said, pointing to the X. She drew another line leading to a square. "Their base is here." She said, circling it. We need to get there as fast as possible."

Kapp nodded. "One question, though. Why would they have a giant mansion completely undefended?"

Neko thought for a moment, then shrugged. "I don't know. That's not important right now, though. Let's go."

***

Neko and Kapp made their way towards the base. Neither of them dared speak, in case anybody was on guard. They walked for hours, hungry and thirsty.

Finally, Neko whispered "Wow, the base seemed so close from the hill," She sighed, "Do you want to make camp here?"

Kapp nodded, "Sure," he said, "But we'll have to keep watch. I'll go first. You go rest. You look exhausted."

Neko nodded "No argument from me." She said sleepily. She spread out her bedroll and lay down, slowly drifting off to sleep.

Neko found herself in the burning remains of her village. She looked around. All she saw was the only place she had ever known in ruins. Neko looked in the direction of the temple. It was the only thing that had survived the blaze, but it was still a little bit in ruins.

Neko ran toward the temple, hoping that she would find something, anything that would give her something to fight for. But then she stopped and realized that she already had something to fight for. She was fighting for her freedom, for her friends, and most of all, Sensei. She didn't need anything else!

With that thought in mind, she told herself, "Ok, Neko, time to wake up."

***

Neko woke to find herself bound hand and foot. She looked at Kapp, who, for whatever reason, was not tied up. He looked extremely pleased with himself. There were men standing with him.

"Kapp!? What are you doing?" Neko hissed.

Kapp smirked, "Can't you see? I work for the hunters! I lulled you into a false sense of security, going with you, comforting you, telling you that there was still hope. I gave you a weapon, I even ran you away from them! I just had to wait until you fell asleep. Then I captured you and now you're going to die."

He gave instructions to the men with him, "All right, boys! Let's take her to the base and get her to the boss!!"

This time it was Neko who smirked, "Wow, great job. You captured me and now I'm going to die. Just brilliant."

Kapp looked puzzled, "Well, um... Thanks."

Neko smiled, "But you made one mistake..." She turned into a cat and the ropes fell off.

She turned human again and said, "You didn't know that I could do that!" Neko grabbed her knife, "So, who's first?"

Kapp panicked "Fall back! Fall back!" Kapp ordered. Neko ran after them, hoping that she would be able to stay with them long enough to reach the base.

***

Neko ran just behind the hunters. They eventually made camp. Neko did, too, just out of sight of them. When they fell asleep, Neko raided their tents for food and other materials to help her along her way to the base. She left Kapp's tent alone, though, because even though he had turned out to be a murderous traitor, he was still a friend, for a time. Neko put everything she had gathered, including a small id card, into her bag and said "Ok, Neko, time to get going.

***

Neko ran towards the looming shadow of the base and arrived within minutes. She pushed the door open. No one was there. She looked around and saw a staircase leading up a wall. She went over and climbed up. At the top, she saw a door marked "Control Room". She dashed up to it and was just about to throw it open when she heard a voice.

"Hello, Neko." Neko whirled around. The voice had come from a tall man with dark brown hair and a black robe.

"Ok, two questions, who are you, and how do you know my name?" Neko said heatedly.

The stranger smiled, "I am Akujin. I have been watching you."

Neko went pale. Every voice in her head was screaming, Go! Run! He's going to hurt you! Or kill you! Or do something bad to you! But Neko was frozen where she stood. Akujin smirked, "I presume you have heard about me?"
