Chapter one/entry one WHATEVER

Hey there! My name is Annabeth Chase, and this is the story of my life! *hears humming sounds of One Direction coming from the Aphrodite cabin* Sigh, those girly-girls and boys. You can't see it, but I just rolled my eyes. Anyway, my father is Fredrick Chase, and my mother is Athena. That's right, you didn't hear wrong. I am the daughter of the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy. I used to live in Calafornia before I ran away. What I remember of my life early on, is all with my step-mother. She hated me, and thought I being around would bring monsters that would attack her and my fathers kids, Bobby and Matthew.  My father was away at work most of the time, looking at battlefield replicas and old planes. So it was just me and my step-mother and her kids. [Leo, I did not sound like Cinderella. Her father DIED in that story!] Night was the worst. I would get ready and climb in. But when my step-mother closed the door, the spiders came. [Okay, stop rubbing my arm Seaweed Brain!] They would bite me and cover me with webs. The first time I screamed for Susy (A/N Okay, I totally forgot the step-mothers name, so for now it Susy.) But when she opened the door the spiders hid themselves. I begged to call my dad, but Susy said not to disturb him at work with silly nightmares, and shut the door again. In the mornings the bites had faded and Susy thought the webs were a prank. Eventually, when I was seven, I couldn't take it any more. So I ran away. I fared okay, for a seven year old facing thousand year old monsters. I fared even better when I found a hammer. I had been travaling the whole day when I decided to rest, I wanted to be safe so I hid in a alley, under some metal. In there was the hammer, so I took it and held it in my hand  and fell asleep. I awoke to some voices coming down the alley.

"I...Clanging...Something...Down..."

And another voice.

"Are.....What....Monster...Eat..."

I tensed at the last part. I didn't know what was in between, but I guessed it was "monster eat the little girl hiding in the metal". Then I tensed even more when I heard

"One...Two...Three!"

The lid ripped of and I jumped for all I was worth. I swung the hammer and yelled at the opposers.

Then, one of the, grabbed my wrist and my hammer went skidding aross the pavement, I screamed

"No more monsteres!" And kicked them in the ,what I thought was, the leg. "Go away!" . I saw the person holding me was a boy, and over to my right there was a girl holding a spear and a sheild with a scary face on it.

"It's okay!" The boy said while trying, key word: trying, to hold me. "Thalia put your shield away, your scaring her!" The girl, who must have been Thalia, tapped the shield and it shrunk into a bracelet and dropped the spear.

"Hey, little girl, it's alright. We aren't going to hurt you. I'm Thalia. This is Luke."

I didn't believe her and wailed "Monsters!"

"No." The boy who was still holding me said. I was still fighting but running out of steam. I was shivering from being so scared. Scratch that, terrified. "But we know about monsters, we fight them too." I stopped kicking, and looked at him straight in the face. I didn't notice how cold and hungry I was until then.

"Your like me?" I asked suspisous, but with a little hope.

"Yeah. We're..." He hesitated. "Well, it's hard to explain, but we're monsters fighters. Where's your family?"

My expression turned hard and angry, my chin trembled as I explained.

"My family hates me. They don't want me. I ran away."

Luke looked at the girl, Thalia, and seemed to come to an agreement.  She walked over, and knelt down infront of me. As she placed her hand on my shoulder and asked,

"What's your name kiddo?"

"Annabeth."

I replied. Luke smiled.

"Nice name. I tell you what, Annabeth. You're pretty fierce. We could use a fighter like you."

My eyes widened, as I took in what he said.

"You could?"

"Oh, yeah," He replied earnestly. Then he reached to his belt, and pulled a dagger out.

"How'd you like a real monster-slaying weapon? This is Celestial bronze. Works a lot better than a hammer."

I took the dagger and studied, awe etched across my face.

"Knives are only for the bravest and quickest fighters," Lukes voice caught halfway through. "They don't have the reach or power of a sword, but they're easy to conceal and they can find the weak spots in your enemy's armor. It takes a clever warrior to use a knife. I have a feeling your're pretty clever."

I beamed at him, and exclained.

"I am clever!"

Thalia laughed and tousled my hair.

"We'd better get going, Annabeth. We have a safe house on the James river. We'll get you some clothes and food."

My smile wavered, I looked at them widly again.

"You're. . . you're not going to take me back to my family? Promise?"

Luke swallowed, and put his hand on my shoulder.

"You're part of our familynow. And I promise I'm not going to fail you like our families did us. Deal?"

"Deal!" I smiled happily, and clutched my new dagger. Thalia picked up her spear, and smiled at Luke in approval.

"Now, come on. We can't stay put for long!"

And just like that, I met some of my best friends, and family.

Okay! So I hope you enjoyed my first chapter! If you were wondering: No, I did not make the dialog up. It is in The Demigod Diaries, Lukes diary.  Please leave a vote and a comment, and if you have any small stories of when Luke, Thalia and Annabeth traveled around, private message them to me :)

Thank you my demigods                                                                                   -Anna Mae
