"Don't you know our siblings words always have a hidden meaning? Even you say cryptic things, Nik," Rebekah to Niklaus.

------------------------------------------------------------

Kordelia was sure she heard Katrina Petrova. Oh, how much she hated the bitch. Hell, if she did hear her, that vampire would be dead so fast, you wouldn't even know it was coming. The Original knew better, though. Was she going insane? The doppelgänger was dead... or was she?

No. No. No.

Niklaus is a hybrid for sure. That, she was certain of. Although, her Mother always did play unfair. Maybe, just maybe, her Mother's spell had some strange twist.

Then, she definitely heard Damon talk back to the girl. She wasn't going insane. This new knowledge made her happy, but knowing Katherine was back, got her angry.

"He called me, Damon," she heard Katherine say. Who called her? Nik? No. Stefan? Maybe.

"What?" Damon quickly asked back, making sure he heard her correctly.

"Stefan called me last night," and that's when Kordeila sped into the room and pinned her to the wall.

"Tell me Katrina," she said in the most spine-chilling voice, deep with terrible hate, "what did he say?"

"I-" she stuttered, "I'm not Katherine." Kordeila let out an emotionless laugh, one filled with so much despise; it definitely scared Elena.

"Still lying, I see," she gave her a wicked grin, "now-"

"I promise you Kordeila; she's not Katherine," Damon spoke up, putting his hand on her arm.

"What?" she let go and gave one look at the girl. Strait hair, unlike Katherine. No heels, very anti-Katherine. No smirk. Nothing alike to Katrina Petrova. Nothing other than her face. "What a shame. I wanted to kill the bitch."

"Don't we all," Damon sighed.

"How is this possible?" she asked, looking from the doppelgänger to Damon.

"I'll explain later. Just, please don't tell Klaus," the blue eyed vampire begged.

"Of course I won't tell Klaus," she smirks, "it's called revenge. Anyways, what did Stefan say?"

Elena hesitated for a second, staring at the girl uneasily, but sighed and said, "He didn't say anything, but it was him. I asked Sheriff Forbes if she would trace the call's origin. It came from Tennessee."

"Where he's binge drinking on the country folk. We went through this, Elena. Stefan's gone. I don't mean geographically," Damon tells her, throwing some unwanted papers into the unlit fire place.

"If he was gone, he wouldn't have called," Elena says with all the hope she can muster up.

"The girl's got a point. I sure do hope Nik doesn't know this, though, he wouldn't be too happy," Kora shrugged and watched Damon scratch a match onto the red side of the box and throw it into the fireplace. She looked up at Elena, seeing the horror cross onto her face, and again, kordeila shrugged.

"Anyways," the Original spoke again, "I'm going back to my reading. You know, Stefan's diaries are much better than any book. I'm reading start to finish." She left the room after that.

Back in her room, she'd just begun to read Stefan's 1864 diary. He was human, the day was hot, and Robert, one of the advisers of Stefan's father, was talking about five dead chickens with neck gashes.

Kordeila felt bad for what was to come at Stefan in a few days time. She knew his life would be flipped upside down when Katrina walked into town, and it wasn't for the better.

After reading deep into Stefan's old diary, Damon came into her room.

"We need to go," he tells her urgently.

"What? Why?" Kordeila asked, looking up at Damon, "but Katherine just-" she stopped herself when he gave a rushing look, "fine."

Kordeila watched as trees passed them rather quickly because of Damon's rushing. She tried to keep at his pace, but just wanted to view the scenes around them. She hadn't been mountains of any sort since..since before she died.

"Damon!" she was practically whining. "Can't we just.. I don't know.. sit for a minute?"

"What?" he asked out of curiosity. "You're tired?"

"No," she laughed slightly, smiling at him, "I haven't been atop a mountain in around a thousand years."

"Oh," Damon nodded slightly, "sure, but just a minute."

She hummed and replied, "A minute is all I need."

She sat down on the piny forest floor, looking out to the other mountains around. She looked back at Damon and patted the spot next to her. He hesitated for a second, but sat down a moment later.

The green trees sparkled with dew from the morning and light from the sun. The sun was dipping down, causing light orange and pink to begin filling the sky. The river below flowed at a medium pace and hit against rocks, but slipped past them smoothly.

There were birds in the sky and some noticeable in the trees, along with squirrels. Damon had spotted a doe and her fawns drinking at one end of the river. The little spotted ones looked up at every sound that occurred around them, while the mother drank unbothered.

"Look," Damon said, pointing to the animals, "deer."

"They are so adorable!" Kordelia exclaimed, smiling wider than Damon had ever seen. Something about her smile made him smile. The Salvatore couldn't quite put his finger on it, but in the past few weeks they'd stayed in one house and searched for their brothers together, she made him feel something.

Kordelia loved nature, it made her feel like a human again. Being human made her feel normal, like she belonged. Without vampires, other than her siblings, she felt different and excluded, but, now that she had the company of vampires and they roamed every inch of the world, she didn't feel so alone.

"Minutes up, I'm afraid," Damon told her, smile dimming down.

"Right," she stood up and brushed herself off, "saving Elena from impending doom time." She held her hand out to Damon, helping him off the ground.

"Come on," he gestured and they sped off to where he heard Elena and Alaric's voice.

"Shh," Damon said, putting his finger up to his lips. Kordelia nodded and watched as Damon ran out and threw Elena into the water. The Original came out and leaned against a tree, watching the scene play out.

"Damon! How are you even here?" Elena questioned after becoming soaking wet.

"Thanks for the tip, brother," Damon says, looking at Alaric as Elena follows his gaze.

"You sold me out!" she yelled, giving a pointed look.

"You think I'd take you to a mountain range of werewolves on a full moon without backup?" Alaric asked, thinking everything through.

"Well," Kordelia says after a moment, "I'm jumping in."

"No, you are not!" Damon yelled with a pointed finger.

"Watch me!" She yelled back, stomping off to the edge and jumping in a few feet from Elena. There was a big splash and a few seconds before she emerged from the water. "That was great."

"Get out of the water, Elena, Kordelia," the younger vampire demanded.

"If I get out of the water, you're gonna make me go home," Elena counters, looking up at Damon and Alaric.

"Yes, because I'm not an idiot like you," Damon replied.

"Harsh," Kordelia mumbled.

"Right now, you're all acting like idiots," Alaric told them. Kordelia looked up at him and glared, pointing two finger at her eyes and then to him.

"You gave up on him Damon," Elena tells him, ignoring Alaric.

"I didn't give up on him, Elena. I faced reality. Now get out of the water," he tells her, not looking over to Kordelia.

"No!" Elena yells back.

"Wait," Kordelia looks up at him. "What the hell is Elena talking about, Damon?"

"Nothing, it's not true anyways," he tells her.

"I always know when someone's lying," she smiles evilly at him and zooms out of the water. "Now, tell me the truth." Compulsion; a simple solution to almost anything.

"It's going to be hard to get Stefan back from this. I have given up searching, because he always comes back," Damon mumbles in monotone and Kordeila lets go. The younger vampire walks back to look down at Elena.

"What's your big plan, Elena? Huh? You gonna walk through a campsite full of werewolves, roast a marshmallow, and wait for Stefan to stop by?" he sarcastically asks before jumping into the water.

"My plan is to find him and help him. Damon, this is the closest that we've been to him since he left. I'm not going home," Elena sternly tells him.

"Klaus thinks you died when he broke the curse. That makes you safe. This, this is not safe," Kordelia informs her.

"I'm not leaving before we find him," she tells both vampires.

"It's a full moon tonight, Elena," the Salvatore tells her.

"Then we'll find him before then. Damon, please," she begs

"Okay. Okay. But we are out of here before the moon is full and I'm werewolf bait," Damon says.

"I promise," Elena tells him.

"Unless you wanna relive that whole deathbed kissy thing," Damon says, causing Kordelia to choke on nothing and Alaric to look strangely her way.

"What?" Alaric asks.

"Trust me, it's better if you do not know," she tells him with wide eyes.

"I said I promise," Elena finalized.

"Fine," Damon says and they both get out of the water.

"How you doing?" Stefan hears Damon in the distance.

"Fine," Elena replies.

"You know, I could help you," the older Salvatore tells her.

"No, thanks," she denies.

"Just one little fwoosh," Damon says.

"Yeah, with my luck, you'd drop me," she informs.

"What are you guys, twelve?" Alaric asks with a bit of irritation in his voice.

"Compared to me.." Kordelia sighs, "yes they are."

The sun begins to fully set, lowering from the horizon and more colors fill the sky.

"We got about a mile left," Alaric tells the group.

"The sun's about to set," Damon adds.

"I can see that, Damon," Elena says as Kordelia sarcastically asks, "No, really?"

"I'm just saying," he defends, putting his arms up.

"The moon doesn't reach its apex for a while. We have time," Elena told him.

Snap.

The Twigs behind them snap and crack. They all turn to face Ray Sutton; the transitioning Hybrid. Alaric holds up his crossbow, getting ready to shoot.

"Stay where you are!" Alaric yells.

"Vampires," Ray sneers, ignoring Alaric.

Ray rushes at Damon and pushes him to a tree, trying to bite him. Alaric shoots an arrow as Kordelia runs over and pries the hybrid off of Damon.

She looks him in the eyes, winks, and snaps his neck.

"Problem solved," she rolled her eyes as he drops to the ground, "don't you just love hybrids?"

"I've only met two, and I hate them both, no offense," Damon tells her.

"None taken, its true," Kordelia shrugs, "he's a hatable person, my brother." She picks up the not-for-long dead hybrid and pushes him to a tree. "Lets tie him up."

Alaric and Damon come up and begin to tie Ray onto the tree.

"These ropes aren't gonna hold him much longer. What else do we have?" Damon asks, looking at Kordelia holding the hybrid down.

"Ric, here. Take these," Elena says, holding out vervain lathered ropes. Damon tries to take them, but burns.

"Ah, ow!"

"She said Ric, you dumbass," Kordelia says, mentally laughing at him.

"All right, that's the last of the vervain. We don't have enough stuff to hold him. I don't think we're gonna make that Ridge before the full moon," Alaric tells them after tying the ropes on Ray.

"If we can get him to talk, we don't have to," Elena tells them. She reaches her hand out to his face, but before she can touch him, he begins to scream.

"Is he turning?" Damon asks.

"It's impossible. It's still daylight," the doppelgänger says with confusion.

"Tell him that," Alaric jokes.

"Perks of being a hybrid; they can turn at any time," Kordelia says calmly, causing all heads to turn her way. Damon goes to Ray and holds his shoulders.

"You know, those ropes aren't gonna hold the wolf," the teacher says, looking at Ray.

The hybrid begins to scream and his bones start shifting.

"Damon, we've got to get out of here. We gotta get out of these mountains now! Damon, now!" Elena yells.

Everyone begins to run the opposite way as the hybrid.

As the four are running, Elena trips. The two vampires and teacher stop and look back at her but freeze where they are, seeing a werewolf.

"Don't move," Damon whispers. Elena looks up, coming face to face with a werewolf.

"Here, doggie, doggie," Damon runs off, causing the wolf to follow him.

"Damn it Damon," Kordelia mumbles, following after him.

"Come on. Let's keep moving," Alaric says.

"We can't leave them," Elena tells him.

"They can handle themselves. Let's move," Ric demands.

"No. If he gets bit, he'll be dead. I'm the reason he's out here," she tells him, being stubborn.

"I am the reason he's out here. I told him where we were, and I'm telling you to keep moving. Let's go. Elena, now!" He yells, causing Elena to follow.

"Damon?" Kordelia whispers, walking carefully through the forest. "How did you disappear like that?"

She huffs, not finding him anywhere. She turns  360 degrees in her spot, trying to see any clue, but none.

"Maybe I'm just really bad a hide and seek," she mumbled.

Kordelia listened for Damon, hearing birds, water, fire, and... Niklaus.

The Original Vampire Witch tip toes behind a tree when she's close enough to Klaus, and peers around it, watching him with his head in his hands. She scans the scene. Dead bodies lay left and right, blood covering their faces.

She steps around a tree, trying to get a better view, but a twig snaps under the souls of her shoes. Niklaus' head snaps up, looking straight at her.

"What don't you get about leaving, sister?"

"I had no choice, Nik," she lied, stepping closer to him, "I was practically forced." Kordelia made a choice, she'd never admit it, but she would never give up on finding her brother.

"You were right," he whispers, scoffing, "as always."

"What?" she asks, stepping even closer to him. Niklaus wasn't one to admit he was wrong, so this surprised her.

"You heard me," he said louder and harsher. "It didn't work, my hybrids failed like you said they would."

"I'm sorry," she whispered, "I didn't think I would be right."

"It's okay sister, you can celebrate your win," he mumbled. "Although, you almost always do."

"Seeing you suffer isn't winning, Nik," she tells him, looking at the fire, "but it's satisfying."

"Why do you bathe in my sadness?"

"You, Nik, are a cruel man and have made our siblings upset. You daggered Finn, and have yet to undagger him. You have them all carted in boxes. You've done other things to them, I just want you to feel what they feel sometimes," she sighs, "but that doesn't mean I want you to be upset all the time."

"What does it mean, sister?" he asks with furrowed eyebrows.

"It mean, I want you to learn your lesson," she smiles sweetly and takes the stick from her unseen side, thrusting it into his stomach. He looks down at it and makes an angry face, pulling it out.

"You-" Kordelia's cellphone interrupts her brother.

"Are you okay?" she asks frantically after answering the phone.

Damon chuckles on the other end of the line, "Is that Kordelia Mikaelson caring?"

"Shut up," she mumbles as Klaus listens in on the conversation with an angered face.

"Where'd you get off to?"

"I don't know," she looked at Klaus, "I was looking for you and got lost." Then, she looked away.

"Well, get your ass down here. Meet us at my car," he tells her and hangs up the phone.

"Why did you let him talk to you like that?" Nik asks with an angered voice.

"Niklaus, its fine," she smiles, "he's only joking."

"It is annoying," he grumbles, causing his sister to roll her eyes.

"Goodbye, Niklaus," she smiles and zooms off.

After getting back to the Salvatore Boarding House, Kordelia went straight on to her room, ignoring whatever Damon had to say. She lay on her bed for, what seemed like, years, thinking of the events of the night. Had Damon seen Stefan? What was she going to do when Nik found out she betrayed him? She had no clue.

Down in a cellar, Caroline is tied to a chair. She is facing the door of her cell which has a barred window in it.

"Hello! Mrs. Lockwood?! Somebody!" Caroline yells out of fear after walking up. She listens, hearing Simone coming.

"Who's that? Mrs. Lockwood?! Please," she begs. Caroline was scared out of her mind. Who would want to lock her up in this cell?

Bill, Caroline's father, comes into the cell and slams the door behind her.

"Hello, Caroline," he greets.

"Daddy?" Caroline whispers in a small, almost weak, voice.
