Prologue

This is the story of the Son of the Rito Champion.

The story of lovers pulled apart by the world.

The story of the Calamity and how it ended.

Some people say it's but a legend.

But I can say with certainty, it is very real.

This is my story.

But you'll find out who I am through the story.

So, let's get started.

It starts with a different story.

It tells of a princess with a sacred power and her knight with the sword to seal away the darkness. There were also ancient machines made by hand, four of them known as the Divine Beasts with four leaders controlling them. They are know as the Champions with the knight. Then there were thousands of other ancient machines known as Guardians to help the knight and the princess. Everything was set to defeat Ganon.

But the princess could not awaken her sacred power. She tried everything she could but nothing. On her seventeen birthday, she and her knight went to the spring of wisdom to see if she could awaken her power. It was her last chance. The other four Champions waited at the bottom of the mountain for the princess and the knight. When the knight and the princess returned, they delivered the bad news. It still had not awakened. They started to think of different options for the princess to awaken her power.

But then...

Calamity Ganon awakened at Hyrule Castle.

Calamity Ganon used his power to take control of the Guardians and the Divine Beasts. The Champions, the knight, and the princess watched as their plan started to crumble.

They rushed to Hyrule Castle to try and save as many people as they could. A Guardian was about to blast the princess, but the knight took the blow. In distress, she cried and screamed for the knight to be okay. There, her power awakened with a flash of light, causing the Guardian and the ones around the Champions collapsed.

The Champions rushed over to the princess and noticed the collapsed knight now being held in the princess's arms. She then ordered the Champions to take the knight to a place called The Shrine of Resurrection. She also told the Champions that she will deal with Ganon, alone, and for all of them to be with their clans to protect them. They must stay separated until the knight woke up.

The Champions obeyed her order, no matter how much it hurt them inside. This meant they had to say goodbye to the princess and each other. But for one, it hurt so much more.

"Revali!" The Rito Champion's wife exclaimed as the Rito Champion came home after all that has happened. She went over and hugged the Champion. She was a little shorter than him, had pale skin, dark brown hair with the same dark brown eyes. She also had on a nightgown on as it was nighttime and a red scarf around her neck. It was a very special scarf that her mother gave her before she passed when Holly was a child.

"Hello, my dear Holly." Revali said, rather quietly, as he hugged his wife back.

"I was so worried! Are you hurt? Is everything okay?" Holly exclaimed.

"Well...yes and no." Revali said.

"That's not a good answer."

"Holly, dear, we need to talk. I'm not hurt cause no one can touch me while I'm in the air, but something happened today..."

Holly was about to say something when their son started crying. Revali and Holly ran to their son who was in the bassinet in the living room which was like 3 feet away. They looked down to the little baby who was crying and then Holly then picked him up. She tried to calm him down but he kept crying.

Yeah, see that little baby right there? Yeah. That's me. I was only a few months when my father had to leave us.

He had no choice.

He had to obey the princess no matter how much it hurt him.

Normally, he would complain but that was the time to act serious and act fast.

"Oh, sweetie. Calm down. It's okay." Holly soothed.

"Here. Let me." Revali said, holding out his arms.

Holly then gave their little baby to Revali who then held him close. Revali then sat down as he held his son and managed to calm him down. He looked down at his son, just examining him. His pale skin he got from his mother, his dark hair with a mixture of dark brown and dark blue, and how small he was in Revali's arms. It pained Revali so much that he knew he couldn't watch his son grow.

His wife noticed her husband's frown on his beak and sat next to him.

"Revali, what's wrong?" Holly asked.

"I can't stay." Revali stated almost immediately after she asked.

"W-What? What do you mean?" Holly asked, thinking this was a joke at first. Revali looked up at her. For the first time in a long time, she saw tears in his eyes and they were threatening to come out. She knew then that this was no joke.

"Ganon struck the castle. He took control over the Guardians and all the Divine Beasts and that foolish knight with the sword was almost killed. The princess awaken her power but she ordered Link to be put in the Shrine of Resurrection. She also ordered....." Revali stayed quiet for a moment, "for us to be with our clans and to keep them safe until Link woke up and that she would seal Ganon in the castle to keep him at pay."

Holly listened to every word Revali said and was shocked. He had to leave?

"I-I guess it's best if the princess orders it." Holly spoke. Her voice breaking as she held back the tears.

Revali held his son with one wing and wrapped his winged arm around his wife. She couldn't take it anymore. She held onto him tightly and cried into his chest, letting everything out. Revali even let some tears of his own fall from his eyes.

Soon after, Revali had to leave. The family was outside, ready to say their goodbyes to each other. It was raining and Holly held a black umbrella with one hand as she held their son in the other arm. Revali was in front of her, looking down at the two of them. He cupped his wife's cheek with his winged hand.

"It's time..." He stated rather sadly.

Holly leaned into his touch, not wanting him to go. A tear going down her cheek and Revali wiped it with his thumb. They leaned closer to each other and touched foreheads. This was the way the Rito kissed. Then, Holly leaned in and kissed his beak. Then their son did a little squeak. They parted and looked down at him. Revali then picked him up and held him close. He put his forehead softly on his son's.

"Before you leave." Holly said and Revali looked at her. She then took off her red scarf and gave it to Revali. "Something to remember me by."

Revali smiled at that. He then gave his son to Holly. He then took off his blue champion scarf and put it on Holly's neck. He then put the red scarf around his neck.

"Now you have something to remember me by. When we meet again, we will give each other our scarfs back. Just try not to get mine dirty." He said.

"I won't but I could say the same to you." Holly remarked with a smirk and giggled.

Revali smiled at that but then frowned again. It was time for him to go. He then cupped Holly's cheek again.

"I love you, Holly. Never forget that."

"I won't. I love you too, Revali."

He smiled but then he backed up away from them and out of the rain. Holly held out her hand for him, wanting him to stay just a moment longer. But it was time. When he was about a bit away from them, he turned around and knelt onto the ground, his wings ready to fly.

He then used his gale which was an updraft that made him fly up and soon, he was gone.

Holly cried and collapsed to her knees. She held her baby close to her. She wasn't gonna lose her son too.

Revali flied away as tears fell from his eyes. He shook his head and kept flying, using his gale again if he needed to to fly out of the storm.

Revali's Gale was created by Revali himself. The other Rito could not do it. They only fly using the wind. Revali was the only one who could do it.

But soon, they will learn that I, Kaze, can do it too.
