🌸Silbing Weekend Pt 2/4🌸

🌸Before you read🌸

🌸Fun Fact: the title of this part was what I wanted to name the entire short story, not Sibling Weekend. It was thrown out because when I was writing it, I realized that wasn't the main plot/idea/theme of this story (but, the incident that happens here is what inspired it all).

🌸Beware: you're going to meet a TON of siblings and characters that usually don't make an appearance in these things. Don't worry. It was only necessary because they play a game.

🌸Enjoy!

🌸Sibling Rivalry🌸

"Are you sure you don't want to come with us?" Tami asked.

I looked up at the boy I was going to be spending the night with. Why my sister thought it was a good idea for me to be in the same room as the scary guy from 1-B was beyond me. There was no way I was going to sleep at all, not when he could snap me and half and kept a disgusted look on his face.

How was it my sister wasn't cowering in fear because of him? Shouldn't heroes always keep a smile on their face and make people feel safe? This guy clearly didn't do that. He just kept looking down at us. Maybe that was because he was a giant, but still. I didn't feel comfortable around him.

"I'm sure," he said, not taking his eyes on my sister. "I've got homework to work on. Besides, it'd be weird since I don't have any younger siblings like you and the others."

My sister probably nodded her head or something, but I just looked around the room. Each room was decorated in their own way, but Raiden's room was a bit weird. He had brown and black blankets and pillows on his bed with his dresser sitting right next to it. There wasn't anything else in his room. No pictures, no posters, not even a stuffed animal. The only thing he had in his room was a pile of weights and a huge bench press that was shoved to the opposite corner of his room.

Luckily, my green sleeping bag was away from that stuff. The last thing I wanted was to accidentally knock my head on that in the middle of the night.

"Well, good luck on your homework," Tami said, as she patted my back. "We'll at least see you at dinner, right?"

My stomach turned as I looked up at the guy. If my sister tried this hard to get someone to hang out with her, then it only meant one thing. He didn't want to. I was going to be spending way too much time with him when I would have to sleep here. I didn't want him taking any more of my time away from Tami than he already was going to do.

Raiden didn't really answer my sister's question as he just shrugged. A moment after, there were knocks on his door, causing Tami and him to look back. I didn't. Instead, I just watched to see who would get the door, and being that my sister was closer, she was the one who walked to the door.

Of course this guy wasn't going to get the door for her. I snapped back at him and glared. The worst part of this entire weekend was going to be spending the night with him. I wasn't looking forward to it. Raiden must not have either because he eventually tore his gaze off my sister and looked down at me. Not once did he smile.

"Hey Tami! Are you and Oliver ready to join the rest of the gang?" a familiar voice chirped.

I turned around to see Kita standing there. Like my sister, she was no longer wearing the U.A. uniform she was just moments ago when I first met her outside. Instead, she was now wearing a pair of tight black leggings and a tight fitting t-shirt that stopped well above her belly button. It was unlike my sister's loose t-shirt and sweats she decided to wear. Kita's little sister, Emiko, stood behind her, still seeming a bit shy like she was earlier.

It made me wonder how long it had been since she and her sister have seen each other. They seemed pretty close if she was still clinging to her side. From behind the two, I would see other siblings chasing after each other in the hallway. Despite that, Emiko just clung to her sister's side.

Tami looked back at me, which was the only reason why I looked away from Kita's younger sister. I nodded my head before she could even answer and quickly ran beside her and pulled her out of Raiden's room to join Kita and Emiko. The two older girls talked to each other quietly, so I couldn't hear. Even though they did that, I quietly snuck behind them and found myself walking besides Emiko.

"Hi! I'm Oliver," I told her. "Do you have a cool Quirk like your sister?"

Emiko shook her head.

"Oh," I said. "Well, that's okay. I don't have a Quirk either. We can be Quirkless together."

Once again, Emiko shook her head. "It's not that. My Quirk just isn't as cool as my sister's. It's Empath."

My eyes widened as I heard that. There was a girl in my grade level who had that same Quirk. It was really neat. Their emotions could be felt by anyone, and sometimes, they could even control how others felt. Being how I wasn't really feeling her Quirk, I figured she was probably just as excited as I was about seeing our older sister's for the weekend. Emiko was probably just too shy to really show it.

"That's still a really cool Quirk. There's so much you can do with it!" I explained. "Like...like you can make anyone laugh at your jokes, even if they're not that funny. I mean, my jokes aren't that funny, so if I had a Quirk like that, it'd be really cool."

The small pink haired girl smiled at my comment, and slowly let go of her sister.

"Do you know of any jokes?" Emiko asked.

I nodded. "What does a vegetarian zombie eat for breakfast?"

Emiko shrugged.

A smile crossed my lips as I stuck my arms out and acted like a zombie for a moment. "Graaaaaaains!"

The girl didn't crack a smile at the joke, but I could tell she found it somewhat funny as I could feel a bit of warmth surround me. It was the same way the girl from my school with the Empathy Quirk would do if she liked something.

Behind her, I noticed Kita and Tami looking at us. Unlike Emiko, Kita gave a small laugh at my joke, making me realize they were listening in on our conversation. Tami just shook her head, but then again, she knew the joke. It was one of Dad's most well-known one.

"That was actually really good," Kita commented.

"Thanks! Dad told it to Tami and me a long time ago. He knows a lot of good jokes, doesn't he, Tami?" I asked.

My sister shrugged in response. "I mean, they're all just dad jokes. He likes to say the same ones over and over again too."

Kita shook her head. "That's dads for you though. It's as if they have to be funny in order to be a dad or something."

Before anything could be said, I looked over at my sister. Just like I thought, she looked down at the ground. Her face was hidden by her short locks. Somehow, talking about our dad bothered Tami, and I didn't exactly understand why. I mean, sure, I understood that my dad wasn't exactly her dad, but I knew she saw him that way. Being that her relationship with her actual dad was, uh, nonexistent, I figured she would have just forgotten about him.

Guess there were some things that were hard to ignore.

Everyone seemed to have caught onto my sister's change of attitude. Emiko slowly tucked her hands into her pockets as she looked down while Kita whipped her head around. Maybe Tami said something softly enough that only Kita could hear, but I wasn't entirely sure.

All I knew was that I needed to change the subject.

Looking up, I realized where we were heading wasn't that far away. Realizing that, an idea popped inside my head. I turned my head to look at Emiko.

"Hey, want to race me inside? I may not have a Quirk, but I'm still fast," I challenged.

I could tell Emiko was hesitant at first as she didn't answer, but her sister seemed to cheer her on a bit, helping her gain some confidence.

"Oh, I don't know. Emiko's really fast. Tami and I will meet you two inside in a bit," Kita said.

Hearing her sister say that, I could tell Emiko felt a bit more comfortable with the idea. We all stopped as Emiko and I bent our knees ready to run as fast as we could to the other end. Past Emiko, I could see her older sister looking pretty proud while Tami just gave a small smile.

She might have been happy that I was making friends with Emiko, but I would be lying if I thought that was the only reason. If there was one thing that always made my sister relax a bit, it was when the attention was taken off of her. If Kita or Emiko would have caught onto my sister's awkwardness about her dad, it wouldn't have ended well. Seeing that her shoulders relaxed a bit, I knew I did the right thing.

"On your mark," Kita announced once we all stopped. I looked at her little sister who got ready to run. Without saying much, I did the same thing, but I looked ahead. "Get set, go!"

Faster than anyone with a Speed Quirk could run, Emiko and I went flying through the hall, fighting our way to the Heroics Classroom.

Unfortunately, I lost that race.

🌸🌸🌸

All of the U.A. students had a ton of amazing activities planned out for us siblings, making me kind of glad Tami and I decided to go with the others. Tami and I showed everyone how we made her top secret chocolate chip cookies recipe, though, I guess it wasn't a secret considering some people wrote it down. They all showed us around the different classrooms of U.A, even showing us where their homerooms were. I was kind of shocked that they looked the same as any other classroom. I was expecting there to be a lot of cool Pro Hero equipment laying around the Heroics classrooms, but that wasn't the case.

Soon after we took a tour, Kita said that we should all play some games. We did so in the heroics classroom, which was a gigantic gymnasium split into two rooms, as not everyone could agree on the same game. Then again, I couldn't really play some games because I was Quirkless, which not everyone took in account. My sister did, offering to play flag tag, but team style. It was my favorite game to play at gym as I loved running around and taking other people's flags.

Of course, in flag tag, people could still use their Quirks, but I didn't mind. It just gave me a chance to see how everyone's Quirk worked. The goal was still the same. Each team had a set of colored flags, and each of us had three of those flags attached to the hip. Once all three flags were gone, that person was out. People usually underestimated me, which was the best part because when people were down to their last flags, I usually had all my flags plus a few other people's as well.

At least, that was how it usually went. I stood by my sister as I looked at the other team. Immediately, I could tell two people who were going to make it their mission to take my flags first. The first one was Lynn, the orange haired girl who lived next door to Tami and me. Her mouth curved into a smile as she kept her eyes on me, which really freaked me out.

Another pair of siblings that were on that team were the Handa's. They were the same siblings that walked with Tami, Kita, Emiko, and me when we needed to put our things away. I couldn't remember the older girl's name, but her little brother was Toshiro. He seemed to have eaten way too much of Tami's cookies because he was hopping from one foot to the other with a wide smile.

To think Tami thought I had too much sugar before I came...this kid made me look like I was sugar deprived.

There was another pair of siblings on that team, but I didn't really know them. Instead, I just looked back at our team, seeing Kita and her little sister, along with a boy from her class, who had two younger siblings. They all had blue hair, and carried a small bottle of water in their pockets. We all knew the other team was mad because we had one more person on our team, but Kita explained that they were just making it fair since I didn't have a Quirk.

Thinking back on it, maybe that was why I already had two people staring me down like I was fresh meat. They probably saw me as an easy target.

"Okay," Kita yelled, so everyone could hear. I snapped my head towards the pink-haired girl, who slapped her hands together and rubbed them. My eyes widened before I jumped back. Moments ago, she seemed like a nice person, but now, she looked as if she was going to rip some people's heads off with her ram horns.

Good thing she was on our team.

"On the count of three, we start," Kita explained. "One, two, three!"

Everyone went sprinting in different directions trying to grab each other's flags. Instead of going forward, I ran back, quickly taking in my surroundings while dodging Lynn and Toshiro's attempts to grab my flags. Like I had said, the room was split into two, as the other siblings decided to play a Quirk-based game. They put up a fake wall between us, so neither games would get distracted. For the most part, this side of the room was clear with nothing but grass; however, there were a few trees and bushes that made it easier to hide.

Right now, I needed to stay away from Lynn and Toshiro. They kept following me, trying everything they could to catch up with me. At one point, I lost Lynn, meaning it was only the dark-haired boy following me. I turned towards a tree to try and run around it and confuse him, but there was one problem. The orange haired girl that I thought disappeared appeared in front of me.

"Gotcha now, Davis!" the ten year-old said as she lunged for one of my flags.

I tried to dodge it, but there was a bigger problem. As I turned around, Toshiro Handa was standing there with a huge smile. He didn't say anything as he reached for one of my flags. During the midst of it all, with two different kids reaching for my flags, I still tried to turn around, but ended up falling down face first in the dirt.

My ankle screamed in pain when it happened.

I looked up, realizing no one had seen it happened. There was so much chaos going on not to see it. Even Toshiro and Lynn had both ran away with their newly caught blue flags that they added onto their belt full of red ones. I had to blink when I saw two Kaito's running around, only to realize one had two blue flags with a red one on it while the other had only two red ones. My mouth curved into a smile realizing my sister must have turned into him to try and trick everyone.

Meanwhile, I noticed the two younger Sanada's chasing both Lynn and Toshiro, using their water Quirks to cause them to slip and fall on the ground. I smiled, especially when I saw that they both took a flag away from them, quickly adding it to their belts.

All I had was one single flag. If someone grabbed that one, I'd be out. I was usually really good at flag tag, but this was just unfair when I was one of the youngest kids here. One of them was Nami Sanada, as she was eleven years old, while Lynn was three years older than me! If I was a few years older, I'd be fine, but this was just too hard when most of the people playing were way older than me.

But, I wanted to prove that I could do this. I tried to stand up, but while I did, my ankle hissed in pain. It hurt so much that I couldn't even stand!

When I realized that, I knew I needed to hide. My older sister would be worried if she knew I was hurt. People would find me as an easy target. For right now, I needed to hide, so my foot could feel better.

It was pure luck that the tree I was next to had some bushes. I stayed low and crawled in-between them, hoping it'd be enough to stay hidden. Once I was there, I started untying my shoe and slipped it off along with my white sock. There was a lot of red underneath it, but when I pushed it with my fingers, it wasn't swollen. My sister taught me that early on to check if it was swollen, so I knew it wasn't broken or anything, but it still hurt!

I hugged my knee into my chest, and lowered my head into it. I needed to stay hidden, and stay as quiet as I could, but it was hard.

"Oliver?"

My body froze, afraid it was someone from the other team. Maybe if I stayed very still, I'd go unnoticed and be mistaken for another kid.

That didn't happen.

Leaves rustled beside me until I felt someone sitting next to me. I looked over, seeing a small pink haired girl sitting beside me. Her eyes widened with concern as she looked over at my foot, the foot without a sock or shoe on.

"I'm hiding," I whispered.

"You're crying," Emiko noticed. "You're hurt too. What happened?"

My hand came up to my face, feeling the hot wet tears sneaking out of my eyes. I didn't even notice it. All I knew was that my foot really hurt. The heat coming from my face and the tears falling from my eyes, it all went unnoticed.

"I—Lynn and Toshiro tripped me on accident," I told her. "My foot hurts."

Emiko nodded her head. "I can stay here until you feel better. I need a place to hide too."

Before I could ask what she meant, Emiko showed me her belt. Just like me, she only had one rectangular flag attached to her small belt. She must have worked really hard protecting it though as there were grass stains marking up her pants and a small hole where the knee was too. Other than that, the girl looked fine, but like me, she needed a break from all of this.

It was then I remembered what Emiko told me earlier. Her Quirk wasn't really fit for this kind of stuff. She was kind of like me when I thought about it. Everyone else seemed to have a Quirk that could help them out during this. Not us.

"Okay," I told her. "I just wish I would've seen Lynn trap me like that."

"She was with Toshiro Handa right?" Emiko asked.

I nodded my head in response.

"He was talking to some kids earlier how his Quirk allowed him to see five minutes into the future. I bet he and Lynn Oba both teamed up, using his Quirk to their advantage," Emiko explained.

"That makes sense," I told her. "Could you imagine how awesome of a Quirk that'd be? I bet if he wanted to, he could be a really cool hero."

Emiko didn't really say much. Then again, we were supposed to be quiet, so no one would find us. Luckily, the silence didn't last long as she looked up from my foot and at me.

"Earlier, you said that you didn't have a Quirk," Emiko remembered.

Again, I nodded my head. "I'm just a late bloomer. I have to be. Tami was only seven when she got her Quirk, so later this year, I'll get my Quirk too. I just know it."

"What if you don't?" Emiko asked quietly. "People usually get their Quirks when they're three."

"No, I'll get a Quirk," I argued. "I need to. One day, I'm going to be a hero, just like my sister."

My comment confused the pink haired girl. I could tell before she even said a word. Somehow, I knew what she was going to ask. Then again, a lot of people asked the same thing when I said I wanted to be a hero. They'd ask how I could be without a Quirk, but I'd explain to them there were other ways to be one than to be a Pro Hero.

Emiko just asked it in a different way as she tilted her head to the side.

"But isn't your sister in the General Studies department?" she asked.

"Yep," I said with pride. "But she's still the greatest hero ever."

Usually when I'd say that, people would ask how. Emiko didn't.

"No, my sister is," she claimed.

I was about ready to argue with her, when things darkened around me. Emiko and I turned our heads to see the oldest Handa standing there. She looked very similar to her younger brother, especially since she smiled wide when she saw us. The only difference was that there were purple highlights in her curly dark hair. Her belt had three of her original flags on there, meaning she did a good job at dodging everyone.

Seeing that, I knew we were screwed.

I quickly started to stand up out of the bush, feeling the pain in my foot had disappeared. The older girl was about to grab my flag as Emiko somehow snuck out of there. The oldest Handa was too slow as something must have hit her back. She stumbled forward a bit before turning around. When she did, I started to take off running, seeing the blue haired boy on our team standing there with a goofy grin on his face and a ball of water floating above his hand.

"Oh, you're going to get it, Sanada!" the girl yelled as she started running towards him.

Instead of watching what happened, I just ran, but my mind wasn't focused on making sure no one captured my last flag. All I could think about as I ran was how wrong Emiko was.

Tami was a hero. She was my hero.

As I ran, I realized I almost bumped into Emiko's sister, who grabbed the final flag from Kaito.

My sister was a bigger hero than she was. I'd prove it, somehow.
