Rye and the mysterious boy - Past

As he began opening his eyes slowly, he closed them really quick again. everything was so bright. His head banging with huge pain. As he tried again to open his eyes even slower, so that his eyes could adjust to the extrem light.
He looked around, trying to find out where he was but nothing looked familiar at all. Where was he? Why was he here? Who brought him here?

He inspected the tent. There was clothing in a bag, in another, food. He noticed the armor lying on the ground next to the sleeping bag. Books were stacked on top of other books. A lantern was placed beside him.

As he wanted to stand up but a person with long light blue hair, a smiling mask over their face, dressed in a green hoodie with a black smiling face entered the tent. With fear, the boy trembled back, falling back and was trying to make as much distant from him to the person

"Hey, it's alright. I'm not gonna hurt you" they spoke. Still frightened, the boy didn't dare to move nor to talk. "You're safe now" the unknown person spoke while they were carefully approaching. Before he noticed, they were now kneeing infront of him.

"I'm Rye, who are you?" they asked in a relative nice voice. But the boy still didn't answer. He was shaking. He still doesn't know what happened. It was like all his memories were erased. "Hey, it's alright. Everything is fine now. I am no threat" they explained, trying to calm the boy down.

He slowly calmed down but shook his head when Rye asked what his name was. They were a bit confused, you could tell without seeing the face. Well, at least the boy could. Rye exist the tent for a brief moment, then they come back in with a bag in their hand.

"Is this yours?" they ask as they get out a elegant looking crown. It was silver with light purple gems in it. The boy was amazed by it and it felt oddly familiar. But he still doesn't know so he just stays silent.

"It was with you when i found you. All alone. I guess you don't know what happened either, huh?" they tell and the boy is listening carefully. He nodded then Rye began to speak again: "A real mystery... You want to have it? i have no use for it." They handed him the crown, which he took excitedly and began to inspect it closer. All his attention was drawn to it. Why was it so familiar? Rye looked at the boy for a few minutes more, sighed and left the tent again.

It was dark when the boy finally stepped outside, still holding the crown, and looked around outside. The two were in a forest with only their tent and fire that were out of place. It was peaceful. So quiet, so calm.

Rye was sitting at the side of the campfire, searching for something in their bag. The boy slowly approached and tapped them on the shoulder. Rye turned around quickly, still not quite used to the boy also being here. They lowered their guard again and spoke: "Is everything alright?" to which the boy nodded and then handed the crown to Rye again. "Didn't you want it? Why are you giving it back?" they asked confused. He shook his head and pointed to a specific spot on the inside of the crown. Something was craved in it.

"Samuel.. Renire?" Rye read. Something about that name was familiar to the boy. "It could be your name..." Rye thought out loud and handed the crown back. It could be. Why can't he remember anything? "Does it feel familiar to you?" the boy nodded.

"How about this," Rye began talking, while both of them were getting back into the tent, "I start calling you like this and you tell me if it feels right?" They got an hesitant nod as an answer. "Okey, I'm gonna head to bed, you should too."

They both went to bed with a goodnight. The night was weird for Samuel. This felt so uncomfortable sleeping in the same tent with a stranger. But he is better off here than on his own with no memory.
