Lights are flashing, people are dancing, laughter and cheers are the only sound that can be heard over the loud music.

Under the surface, I know that the boy in the corner is heartbroken. The guy chugging down his 8th drink gets beaten daily. The girl in the bathroom with some random dude is homeless.

A party is a place where troubles from the outside world are left at the doorstep. A place where an exchange is made. A few careless minutes for the cost of vulnerability.

Something always goes wrong at a party; overdose, rape... All for a short period of time. An illusion of happiness.

In this case, I might be the cause of a ruined party. I want peace, eternal peace. Not just a few minutes of carelessness.

So I stop fighting and let the water embrace me. As I forget to breathe. I feel death reaching out to greet me. "Ellie follow me"

As I slip away all I can think of is:

"Finally"
