🤔CHAPTER 36🤔
🤔 Chapter 36 🤔
Mavuto's pov
"Fuck off, and go and ask your woman—that's if she's yours," Tyriq tells Leon and stumps off in the direction of the kitchen.
Janai and I both stopped in our tracks across the hall to look at him. He wasn't supposed to be here, especially at this time, and I folded my arms over my chest as he came over to us and explained. "I heard Malia discussing something with him, I thought it had to do with the grocery store and me so I just thought to ask him thinking he was having problems with the books, but he got angry. He may have misunderstood me because I don't know why he answered like that."
His explanation was feasible but lacking a whole lot in importance to work, so I merely fixed him with a look before telling him firmly. "Your personal life isn't supposed to be discussed in public."
"Yes, sir." He says as I walk off leaving him with Janai walking beside me.
After giving the team the okay to go and rescue the woman and her family from where she was hiding from members of the Regan Mafia, I went into my office and slept for the rest of the day. Tyriq was anxious as he peered inside the office, and I called him inside with my hand. "We had no problems rescuing the family. They were well hidden. They are happy they got rescued but feared the worst for the father, husband, and breadwinner, Mister Harvey. He made the sacrifice to stay so that they could escape without being suspected of running away. They say he had them hurriedly leave as they were already packed when he spotted Leon and the others. He distracted the guards by starting a small fire in the underground where Isaachar had them staying."
"I guess that fire was the reason Leon and his team had been so successful," I say lowly.
Comically, he says. "Absolutely, my position is already in jeopardy."
We both laughed, and I asked him. "And Malia?"
"I hope she leaves the idiot. He came asking me, 'What kind of secret business we have going on?' As if he's suspecting us of something other than work-related. How can he be asking me such nonsense when Malia is mainly with him at Outpost Four? If he's suspicious about something, he should be man enough to ask his woman." Tyriq answered, explaining sounding clearly annoyed with Leon.
He was talking facts, but with his quiet good looks, any woman, even my sister, may have a crush on him. "I wonder what made him develop such thoughts," I murmured and yawned.
"A couple exchanged phone calls where she asked me to do something for her. She has every right to call me, we work together. He needs to get his priorities straight and not come to me with bullshit." He supplied calmly.
That was so professional of him. His phone rings, and he takes it out of his top uniform pocket and glances at me before answering. "Malia?"
"Yes, I'm sure." Was his response to whatever she was asking at the other end of the line.
"Are you kidding me? I'm going to go and check right now." He asks, says and ends the call.
To me, he says. "Miguel has dinner ready in the kitchen, and I've sent in my team work log for the day."
"Okay, thank you. See you in the morning." I tell him.
"Yeah. Have a good night." He tells me and walks out the door.
Whatever him and Malia were discussing is most likely pertaining to the stores, I wasn't worried about them being intimate because I know how professional Malia is when it comes to our work. If they liked each other, she would make sure Leon knew it is fully over with them and she wouldn't be at outpost four. I got up and went inside the tech room where Sisco and a few of his team members were packing away his things, and Kimberly and a few other team members were getting in position to take over for the night. I went over to outpost four monitors and viewed through all thirty-five cameras that were installed there, but I didn't see Malia.
Leon was sitting in a corner with his legs propped upon a chair, having a happy conversation with a female guard stationed there. (Another viewer) popped up in the icon bar below, and I tapped on it. (Viewing from Mansion) came up in brackets, and I took out my phone and called Malia. "Where are you presently?" I asked her.
"I'm at home. What's up?" She answered, then asked.
"Okay, never mind, I got through. Later." I told her and ended the call.
I took up a headphone beside the monitor and put it on over my ears, then turned up the audio. All I could hear were the birds chirping in the trees. They were talking too low, and the asshole didn't know that Malia is watching him. I wonder how long this has been going on and worry that it wasn't going to end well. The female guard got up, and they kissed before she went away. He got up a few minutes after and went towards the homestead, and I checked and found the female guard at work at the front desk. She was nice to look upon and had once tried to seek me out, or so Leon had told me at the time. I don't even remember her name, and it's not important for me to check out right now.
I closed the monitors and went and collected my laptop and jeep keys from my office before going to the carport and driving out. I drove straight home, parked, and bathe. I then remembered that I should have collected my dinner from Miguel in the kitchen before leaving and now hungry, I'll have to prepare something to eat. I did, and ate thinking about Quba. A wave of depression flooded me, and I couldn't finish eating. What does she need time to herself for? I need her, and her brother needs to be buried. My balls cramped painfully, and I began breathing hard. I really couldn't take this pain.
A splitting headache took me into my bed, and I groaned within. I whisper a prayer and fell asleep, but morning came with one of my alarms going off, and I was up and out of my bed before I opened my eyes. I switched it off and checked it quickly, seeing a bunch of hikers having a jolly time at the north fence. That trail led to the river tributary, and they have enough fucking space to hike and hangout rather than so close to the damn fence. I hissed, feeling like the world is against me all the time, and I will never be happy. With a little bit of anger within me, I give thanks for a new day, ignorant of asking for a good day because whether it's good or bad, something was just wrong with me or my life.
"I'm sorry God, but right now I feel pissed. I feel fucking pissed. Do you hear me? Just keep me from derailing, please." I say, looking out the window up into the sky.
I didn't say anything else out of fear that God might strike my ass. In times like these I really miss my Dad, I got ready and went to the main guardhouse for breakfast. "It's your dinner from yesterday." Miguel tells me placing a plate with two big steaming fishes in front of me.
"You reheated them?" I asked because they looked freshly cooked.
"No. I just cooked them. I had seasoned them and was waiting until you awake to cook them, but you went away." He answered and explained politely.
I snorted a laugh and tell him. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." He responded and left.
It was interrogation rooms after and the mighty Sean was in the hot room. Cornel fisted him repeatedly under his gut as he hung from from the ceiling by chains shackling his wrists. "Oh Godddd..." Sean cried and Cornel fisted him even more.
Cornel was wet with sweat when he stopped and being shirtless his muscles bulged. "Alliyah did not share any of The-Stepper Mafia's confidential information with me. I swear. I swear to God." He says desperately.
Luie walked in exactly at that time and told him and asked. "God does not know you, but maybe I'll try. How about you tell me why Dré is stationed down on the wharf?"
"He's not, Ray is. Dré is stationed at the receiving warehouse." He answers breathing hard.
Luie took a deep breath and told him. "You know I really thought that you were going to cooperate so I wouldn't have to sweat and mess up this nice suit I'm wearing"
Sean looked at him with confusion and told him. "But I am cooperating."
Luie began rolling up his shirt sleeves while saying. "You're cooperating and lying."
I got up and walked quickly out and over to the interrogation room they were in and Luie and Cornel stepped aside with Luie telling him. "You're dead."
Sean looked at me, and I looked at him. A hundred thoughts must be running through his mind while he beholds me for the first time. "I know I'm good-looking. You can always jerk off to the image of me that you're now storing." I tell him.
"It's your cockiness that has caused me to be here right now, I had truly believed Alliyah was only ranting lies because she despises you. Just let me go so I can go and save my family." He says.
Calmly, I tell him. "I only have one question to ask you and your answer will cause you to either stay up on those chains and get beaten all day, or get you down from them and on a chair for the rest of your interrogation."
"Fair enough." He says.
I looked him in the eye and asked. "Does Dré have an identical twin brother?"
"Yes, Ray." He answered.
I looked at Cornel and told him. "Take him down and give him a chair."
To be continued...
