Ivy woke in the morning with dry crusts around her eyes from the tears she had shed. Uncurling from the position she had fallen asleep in, she sat up, confused as to where she was.

Memories of what had happened the previous day came back, and a new wave of despair washed over her. Ivy picked away at the crusts around her eyes and sighed, rubbing a hand over her face. She longingly looked out the window that was shedding light around the room.

Time passed slowly, and finally, the door was unlocked, and Nyssa walked in, wearing a below-the-knee gold dress. It had five small straps as sleeves, spaced out between the top of her shoulder and hanging loosely on her arm. Two French braids on the sides of her head braided back into the rest of her loose red hair.

"Come with me." she said simply, and then turned and walked out, her bare feet making virtually no noise on the floor. Seeing a chance to escape, Ivy stood up and walked quickly out of the room. The guards, Angus and Casper, took up their positions behind and in front of Nyssa and Ivy, and Ivy's hope of escaping quickly died. Nyssa walked confidently up to an extravagant building.

The building was made out of light grey squares, with a dark grey roof. Two doors stood closed with four guards standing on each side, and two guards in front. Ivy recognized some of the guards as the ones who had accompanied Morocco and Nyssa when Ivy had first arrived.

After seeing and recognizing Nyssa, the guards in front stepped to the sides, allowing the women to pass. Two more guards, one on each side, opened the doors which Ivy and Nyssa entered through. Angus and Casper dropped back and stood inside of the doors, making sure that one who wasn't allowed to left, or, as Ivy thought dryly, she didn't leave.

The inside of the building was exquisite; On either side of the room, sweeping stair cases led up, leading to separate rooms. Two pillars, one dark green, and one red hugged the inside of each staircase. The pillars were each carved with a list of runes, and Ivy's thoughts turned to the runes and what they said.

As if guessing her thoughts, Nyssa announced, "The runes which you see are names of the line of lords and ladies that ruled this planet. The requirements for the lord are that he go through certain tests to make sure he will be a wise ruler. He must also have green hair and as such possess power—"

"What type of power?" Ivy interrupted, curious as to see what some of the Stellas were capable of.

Nyssa smiled, seeming unperturbed by the interruption, "They can catch glimpses into the future, as well as being able to go into the mind world." she continued on, "The lady must go through certain tests to see if she would make a wise leader as well."

As Nyssa paused, Ivy again asked a question, "Why are you telling me this?"

"To assure you that we will make wise decisions concerning you." They stopped walking in front of a door guarded by two guards, one on each side. The guards nodded once as they recognized Nyssa, and opened the door for her and Ivy.

In the middle of the room there was a wooden two-seat couch. Morocco sat on one side, and Nyssa went over to sit next to him. Ivy stood uncertainly, wondering what she should do.

Before she could do anything, Morocco spoke, "Do you know why you are here?" he asked, his white eyes not showing where he was looking. Ivy shook her head, "No."

"There is a certain substance that we are looking for. You know this."

Confusion spilled onto Ivy's face, "Gold?" she asked.

A smile crossed Morocco's face, "No. Something much more valuable than gold—which we have plenty of." When Ivy failed to say anything, Morocco's brow deepened, "Starbeam." he said abruptly.

"What is starbeam?" Ivy asked, still confused, "I know Lenan was looking for it, as I saw in his notebook, but it never said exactly what Starbeam is."

"We have been watching your planet for some time now." Morocco seemed to change subjects completely, "And we have learned much in that time. Your language, for instance. We have also learned how ignorant you are."

Ivy glared at him, but Morocco ignored her, continuing, "In your 'laws', you have stated that making energy is impossible."

"Because it is."

"Pretending ignorance will not get you anywhere." Morocco turned his head to face Nyssa for a moment, and then turned back to Ivy, "Starbeam is the maker of energy. Perhaps you call it something else, though."

Ivy was stunned, "But... it's impossible." she said slowly.

Morocco ignored her statement, and asked sharply, "Where is the starbeam your planet has?"

"I didn't even know it existed, so how should I know where it is?" Ivy asked incredulously.

"Pretending ignoring is useless!" Morocco stood up angrily, "I will give you one day to tell me the truth. Guards!" Immediately, two guards walked in. "Take her to her space." Morocco ordered.

The guards obeyed, and each of them grabbed one of Ivy's arms, forcing her towards the door.

When they came to the door, Angus and Casper switched places with the other guards, and took her to her rooms. They locked her in, and then resumed their original stations outside of her door.

On the glass table, Ivy noticed a chunk of dark, grainy bread had been placed on a metal-like plate. Sighing, she went over and picked it up, moving next to sit down on the blankets.

For a moment she considered the possibility that there could be some type of drug in the bread, and had almost made a resolution to not eat the food when she considered something. They wanted her information, so they wouldn't kill her. Also, she didn't know anything, so if there was a truth drug in there it didn't really matter.

She ate the food, realizing that she was extremely hungry, and then went to place the metal tray back on the stand. Before she replaced it, however, she thought better of it, and went back to the blankets. Hiding the tray under one of them, Ivy sat down to wait for nightfall.
