Grayton smiled softly as he ran a hand through his messy downy brown hair. He looked back in the mirror and straightened his tie. Dinner was in five minutes, and he certainly didn't want to be late, but his appearance came before his arrival. Grayton wanted to look nice for the ladies, as his sister had advised. Well, she had done more than simply advised him. She more or less gave him a twenty minute lecture on what girls like in guys' appearances, which he had completely tuned out. Amberly had even mentioned wearing his hair flat, something he'd never do. It was so unlike him.
He sighed as he took a step back, examining himself once more, and nodding his approval. Grayton put a fist to his lips and blew a kiss to the mirror, like that of a chef praising himself for his finest dish.
"Go get 'em, tiger," Amberly called from the open doorway. He turned on his heels and shook his head, laughing.
"Go to dinner before Dad finds you in my room."
She sighed, exasperated. "Fine, you bum. Seriously, wear your hair flat. It would look really cute!"
Grayton rolled his eyes. "I'm not going for cute. I'm going for-"
"Grayton Schreave! Amberly! Get over here!" their father called, ordering them to come to the dining hall. They looked at each other and exchanged sighs. "Coming!" they called as they walked down to the dining hall.
His face reddened when he saw all of the ladies seated at the table, waiting on him. "Sorry, Dad, I uh.."
"He was posing in the bathroom trying to practice his sexy poses, Dad!" Amberly blurted, grinning mischievously. She did a few poses, looking like a girl from Vogue magazine. Grayton and several of the girls laughed at her hilarious poses.
"For the record, I was doing nothing of the sort! I was just about to come when you called me, Dad!" he protested, grinning at Beatrice, who was still laughing.
Romeus rolled his eyes. "Sure you were. We'll talk about this after dinner. Anyways, let's eat, shall we?" A few of the girls nodded in agreement.
Grayton snickered as he noticed Lady Leah eyeing the platter of cookies on the dessert table. Beatrice was seated to his right, Kya at his left.
"I'm literally divided between the two...
It's okay. You've made it these past few days...just keep breathing and take it one day at a time.." he mentally comforted his soul.
Plates of different assortments of rich Illéan food were set before the girls on the elegantly decorated table. Once everyone was ready and grace was offered, everyone began to eat, passing plates around to each other and being waited on by waiters and waitresses.
"So, ladies," Queen Kris looked up at the girls around her, "has Grayton been on his best behavior so far?"
"Mom! I'm bloody eighteen! If I can handle my chores, this is no problem!" Grayton laughed, shaking his head. "Yes, Mom!"
"Of course!" Kya answered immediately. Stella grinned mischievously. "I don't think he has, your majesty." Wendy nodded. "Me either!"
Kris sensed their teasing and grinned at the girls' individual personalities. "Grayton, what did I tell you? Do you want me to give you more chores? My bathtub could use a good scrub, after all!"
Grayton sighed dramatically. "As fun as that sounds, I'll have to pass. Guess I'd better kick the gentlemanliness up a notch!"
A few of the girls snickered, Beatrice shook her head as she ate a forkful of green beans. Stella shot him a smirk. "What was that? I'm afraid I can't understand what you're saying! Something about being a gentleman?"
His eyebrows rose. "Do you need a translator for our dates, Stella? Is my gentlemanly accent too much for you?"
She rolled her eyes. "Still not going through! You sure you're speaking English?"
Grayton laughed and caught his brother's amused expression. The chefs put out some more desserts on the dessert table, creating a buffet for them.
A few girls got up to serve themselves once they were finished, and Grayton followed once most of the girls had gotten their desserts. He was behind Stella. "Can you understand me now?" Grayton teased, over exaggerating each syllable of the words.
Stella turned to him and grinned. "I'm so done with you!" She picked up the piece of chocolate cake on her plate and smashed it into his face, chocolate getting all over the collar of his shirt. "I can understand you now!" she laughed.
Several surprised expressions transferred between the girls. Romeus looked at his son and shook his head. "Can't say you didn't deserve it. You were getting to be a bit much, Grayton!" he snickered.
Grayton opened one eye, where he had closed his eyes as Stella had smashed the cake into his face. He took his pointed finger and scraped a bit of the icing off of his face, tasting the cake. "Mm..chocolate! Very nice!" His brown eyes met Beatrice's humored eyes. She burst out laughing as he tasted the cake, her laughter ringing through the room like music.
Grayton grinned at the sound. Romeus looked up at his son. "You'd better get cleaned up. I'm sure you have a date after this." He nodded and bowed to the girls, snickering as a drop of chocolate icing dripped from his face onto the floor in mid-bow.
"I'll see you ladies later!" Grayton called as he left to clean up. Before he left, he leaned to Beatrice's ear. "Meet me in my room in a bit, will you?"
She looked up at his chocolatey face, stifling a laugh. "Of course. See you in a bit!"

I know that was short, but I really wanted to get an update out! Plus I love this chapter! :)
