3. The Revelation
Alice's POV
One second, I was staring at the place in front of me with my mouth dropped open, completely shocked, and the next, I had blinked and the blue eyes had disappeared. My heart was pounding inside my chest. I didn't feel tipsy at all. Everything was as clear as glass, right in front of me. The only thing that was missing from my view was that striking pair of eyes.
I turned away, swallowing. I told myself that it was just a hallucination. I was tipsy, and it was his and Stella's death anniversary. I probably wasn't actually seeing him, and had just turned the picture in my mind into a reality. He was just a figment of my imagination.
But no matter how hard I tried to get the picture out of my mind, I still had my doubts. The eyes were so real, as if they were right in front of me. I could see every little speck of white, and the magnificent shades that turned his eyes into the beautiful ones that I had last seen two years ago. The eyes that haunted me.
I could feel myself shivering, a creepy sensation overtaking me. I could feel the atmosphere around me growing thicker, and I felt like I was suffocating. I wanted to get out of there. I wanted to take myself far away from the place. If I didn't, I was afraid I might have broken down.
Somehow, I pushed myself through the crowd, trying to find Reyna. I was desperate to get out of the place, and soon, I found her with Alex. I looked up at him, seeing his curly hair flowing out of the hoodie he was wearing.
"I need to get home. Take care of her, and drop her off at her place. I'm trusting you, so don't do anything. You probably won't, but if you do, you're dead Monroe. Just remember that.", I shouted, trying to make him hear what I was saying over the loud music.
He nodded, rolling his eyes. Probably because I had made him all too familiar with my threats. But what can I say? I didn't want anything happening to the only close friend that I had left.
I rushed out of the place faster than fast, feeling like throwing up. I felt sick to the core, my insides twisting around into knots. A few drops of sweat rolled down the side of my forehead. Why? Why did I have to see his face?
I rushed towards my house. It was only a seven to eight minutes walk from Alex's place. At that moment I was cursing myself for going to the party in the first place. Why couldn't I have stayed home? I should've listened to Reyna, and relieved my stress by watching some movies. Why did I have to make a fool of myself by going to a party?
Thankfully, I was soon right in front of my house, and I rushed inside, as if it was the only place that I could get oxygen in the entire world. Oddly enough, it felt exactly like that. I fiddled with the keys, struggling to open the lock. However, before I could, the door was flung open, and I was thrown into the arms of someone. As I inhaled the masculine cologne, I realized that it was my brother. He was supposed to come home from college, and I had completely forgotten about that.
"Woah! Are you okay Lissy?", he said, his tone sounding panicked.
I looked up at him, seeing the worry in his eyes. Suddenly, all of my worries disappeared. I felt completely okay. Not tipsy, and not suffocated.
I smiled at him, saying, "Yeah, I'm okay. How are you, Noah? It's been so long."
I could hear him let out a sigh of relief, and he stared at me.
"Yeah, I'm fine.", he blurted. He sniffed the air around me, looking at me with an eyebrow raised. "You went to a party?"
I nodded, and his eyes widened.
"Really? Well, I guess my baby sis is growing up! Anyway, let's go meet mom and dad.", he beamed, grabbing my hand and dragging me up the stairs.
I could hear the music playing from downstairs, and instantly knew that Nona was home. Nona was my grandmother. But she wasn't just any other grandmother. She was a quirky, young at heart and hilarious grandmother.
A grin made it's way across my cheeks and I eagerly climbed up the stairs. As soon as I put my foot on the little platform right above the last step, I was tackled into a hug. The breath got knocked right out of me.
"Lissy! You're here!", the person who had tackled me shouted.
It was Nona.
I chuckled, nodding at her and moving out of her hold. She looked me up and down as if she hadn't seen me for centuries, even though she had come over just about a week ago.
"Look at you being so pretty! You definitely take after me.", she smirked.
To say that Nona was kinda wacky was an understatement. She was more young at heart and wild than most teenagers that I had ever met. But I still loved her, and adored her fun personality.
"This year, you need to find yourself a hunk. I need to see the two of you make those goo-goo eyes at each other before I accidentally kill myself in a car accident."
I rolled my eyes, not wanting to have the same conversation again. Nona was intent on making me find a suitable boyfriend. Actually, I think she just wanted a hot guy around. Whatever the reason was, I did not need a boyfriend.
"And where exactly am I supposed to find one, huh?", I sighed, annoyed at the conversation.
"Uh... You basically live on the beach, and trust me, I've seen some six-pack holding potential boyfriends out there. And secondly, your school is starting day after tomorrow."
My eyes widened and my jaw dropped.
Oh sh*t! I had school in two days?!
