22. Ends Too Soon
Alice's POV
My heart stopped, everything around me stopped. I was scared. No, scratch that, I was terrified. I had no idea what he had just said. I did, but it was like I was a baby again. I didn't understand. He had a... disorder? What disorder? How? Since when?
I had so many questions, all of them unanswered. And as he continued to stare at me with shock painted across his face, I could barely hold myself up. My world didn't come crashing down, no. It remained the same. But I was the one who had fallen down, completely and utterly terrified.
"You... you what?", I questioned, my voice breaking as I talked to him.
His mouth was opening and closing, his phone loosely held in his hand. He seemed just as shocked as I was. For a second, he seemed to have had the exact same reaction as me. But after what seemed like a blink of an eye, his handsome face had transformed into a frown. His jaw was clenched, a storm in his eyes. He was obviously enraged.
Feeling a little scared, I backed away. My hands were held out in front of me, my body in a defensive position. I wished I could have flown out of the room, completely out of his reach. I had never been so terrified in my life, except for the time that Stella and him had...died.
"Why would you listen to me? I was having a private conversation.", he said, glowering at me
"I... didn't know that. I was going to jump on you, to scare you. I just accidentally heard you.", I said, feeling a little more confident.
I thought he would understand. I thought he would stop looking so terrifying. But what happened was the complete opposite.
"That doesn't give you the right to listen to me. I was having a private conversation.", he murmured.
"Listen, Luke, stop changing the subject. What... disorder do you have? Are you okay?", I said, hoping that my words sounded comforting and that he wasn't as angry anymore.
"That doesn't give you the f*cking right to hear my conversation! It was private!", he yelled, making my eyes widen.
I could feel tears stinging my eyes, but I quickly blinked them back, gulping.
"I'm guessing that the date is... cancelled then?", I questioned, making sure that my voice was level. He nodded, making me take a deep breath in. "And so is our relationship?"
I could hear him taking in deep, heavy breaths. He seemed to have lost all his senses. I was scared. Scared of the answer that he was about to give me.
"I don't f*cking care. Go ahead and remove the labels if you want. Just don't eavesdrop on my conversations.", he muttered, anger still very clear in his voice.
I could feel my chest constricting, a tear making it's way down my cheek, but I quickly wiped it away, straightening myself up before he could see my devastated state.
"Fine then.", I whispered. "I guess it wasn't meant to be. Don't come running back to me when you realize what you've done."
I was acting like his words hadn't affected me one, single bit, whereas in reality, I felt like someone had cut my heart into millions of pieces and fed them to the vultures. I walked towards the door, turning the handle and starting to walk outside. But before I could completely walk away, I could feel a hand holding my wrist.
I looked back, seeing Luke's glittering, electric blue eyes. I didn't understand his eyes. One second, they looked like a beautiful, icy winter landscape, but the next, they seemed to have a storm raging inside them. Lightning and the sea, a fierce competition.
I expected him to apologize, as that was the only thing that a sane human would do after the ordeal that I had just been put through. But, he wasn't sane. In fact, he was the most psychotic person I had ever met. He faked his own death, for god's sake! What more evidence did I need to finally see how completely and utterly crazy he was?
Instead, Luke continued to stare at me, his eyes boring into my own. The two of us just stood there, my breath hitching as I saw his intense glare. I gulped, feeling slightly terrified. I know I shouldn't have, but the muscular, angry being in front of me was nothing short of a person's worst nightmare.
I broke out of my thoughts, looking away. I tried to tear my wrist away from his grip, but he held it tighter. His fingers moved towards my mouth, his thumb pressing itself to my bottom lip. He scrutinized me while I continued to feel my heart beat faster and faster. I could feel him applying pressure to my lips, and suddenly, his eyes narrowed even more.
In less than a millisecond, he had taken his thumb off my lip, harshly pulled me against him, and smashed his lips onto mine. My eyes didn't widen. My heart didn't beat faster. My body didn't react to his touch. He continued to kiss me with full force, making me feel like my lips were about to fall off.
I let him continue to do what he was doing, not feeling a thing. He was unforgiving, his mouth crushing and bruising my own. It was like he had lost complete sense of everything that was happening, focusing only on one thing; Kissing me.
When the numbing pressure finally moved off my lips, I didn't bother to step back. Of course I didn't. No, what I did was better. So much better.
I raised my hand up in the air, and flung it towards his face, hearing the sound of the slap echoing in my ears. Then I stepped back, and walked out of the room, not looking at him even once.
I couldn't bear to.
Hm... the comeback is quite dramatic isn't it? XD Well, I'll have to stop writing again in a bit, because I have more tests coming up. Hope you enjoyed this chappie! I love you guys! Peace out!
