Twenty Three- The Good, The Drunk, and The Seniors(p1)
(A/N) Thanks to my friend TJ for the Title
Pearl's pov
The music from the party was audible from blocks away. Now, Peridot, Opal, and I stood on the front lawn staring at the party in awe.
Flashing lights came from every downstairs window, and toilet paper was everywhere. Opal slid her car keys into her purse after parking a block away, and gulped.
"See you guys inside." She said, bravely marching in where she was met by a chorus of half-drunken cheers.
I looked down at Peridot beside me, who was scrunching up her nose and adjusting her glasses. She wore her cactus sweatshirt and a pair of jeans, the usual for her.
I, on the other hand, wore a simple blue dress with a white sweater over it.
I was overdressed and Peridot was underdressed.
"Well, are you ready to go in?" I asked, only to notice Peridot was already a few paces ahead of me.
"Let's just get this over with." She muttered through gritted teeth. I jogged the short distance to walk beside her, and we stopped at the door.
"Ready for something that will change our lives?" I asked her.
"Not really." Peridot said, opening the door so we could step inside.
It was only about eight o'clock, just getting dark, but I could tell the party was on it's second or third hour. Somebody had brought alchohol- and some heavy liquor, by the looks of it.
Instinctively, I grabbed Peridot's shoulder.
"What are you doing?" She asked immediately.
"I don't want us to get separated." I explained. Peridot nodded, and we made our way through the front hall and into the living room.
A few people were sitting on the sofa, meanwhile Rose, Greg, and Marty stood in the corner. Marty was speaking to someone, most likely the teen whose home we were in.
Rose looked over at me.
"Pearl! There you are!" Rose greeted with a smile, racing over to hug Peridot and I. "And who's this?" She asked, letting go. I cleared my throat.
"Rose, this is Peridot Diamond. The first friend I've made on my own." I smiled proudly, and Peridot shook Rose's hand.
"And I presume you're Rose Quartz?" She asked.
"Yep, that's me!" Rose smiled. "Marty just got the mics set up, so we can get started." I nodded, and began to tune my violin.
"While you do that, I'll go get something to eat." Peridot said, walking away.
"Be careful, Peridot!" Rose warned. "Somebody already spiked the punch!"
Opal's pov
Once I finally made it through the throngs of people talking, dancing, or even just drinking, I had been in there for at least ten minutes. Thankfully, there were less people in the kitchen because the snack table was set up in the dining room.
The people in the kitchen were significantly less drunk, thus I noted the absence of all the other cheerleaders.
"Opal!" Sugilite called from the corner. I walked over and leaned against the wall.
"I didn't think you would come." I laughed.
"Well Sugi, I hadn't planned on it but Pearl's doing a song with Rose and Greg." Sugilite gasped.
"So you mean you let Pearl come?" She asked.
"Well, did you leave Amethyst at home?"
"Of course not! She's in the den hanging with that Vidalia chick." She explained.
"Isn't Vidalia a senior?" I asked.
"Yeah? So what?"
"Just asking." I reached around her and into the fridge. "Hey, you can't spike cans of soda, right?"
"Nah." I grabbed a can of coke and leaned back again.
"So how long have you been here?" I asked.
"About half an hour. The punch was good until someone spiked it." I laughed.
"Don't you usually get hammered at parties?"
"Not since he got really bad." I nodded.
"What's up with Dads? Do they just naturally screw up?" I asked.
"At least my old man had a reason. His wife was a bitch who left him. Your dad? He had everything. A loving wife, two beautiful daughters-"
"Actually, he already had four loving daughters." I corrected. Sugilite laughed.
"I guess you're right." The music coming from the living room stopped, and was met with a mixture of boos and panic.
"No, the cops aren't here." A growling voice said, the sound coming from the speakers.
"I bet that's Pearl." I said, dragging Sugilite to the living room. We arrived to see Greg start strumming his guitar and Pearl start playing her violin.
I took out my phone and videotaped the beautiful performance.
"Pearl, that was beautiful!" I said when she was finished, hugging her. But something about her expression worried me. "What's wrong?"
"Where's Peridot?"
Peridot's Pov
I heard the music stop in the living room and decided that Pearl was about to play,so I stepped into the room.
However, just as I was about to make my way to where she was performing, a hand grabbed my arm and started dragging me away!
"H-Hey! What are you doing you clod!" I yelled, struggling.
"Relax, you're going to love this!" A female voice said. I was released in the den, where I finally visualized my assailant, a tall blond girl.
"Who are you?" I asked, looking at the group of seniors in the room holding red solo cups.
"I'm Vidalia." The girl said, handing me a drink. "Here."
I looked down cautiously at the drink, which was clearly fruit punch with alcohol in it.
"Well, are ya gonna drink it?" Another female voice asked. I looked up to see a familiar girl.
"Do you have Mrs. Agate History first period?" The girl seemed confused, but nodded.
"I usually sleep in the back."
"Amethyst." I said, making the connection.
"Peridork."
"Did you drink this?" I asked.
"Not yet." I glanced around at the surrounding teens, assuring no one was listening.
"I think there's drugs in this."
