Twenty Eight-No backing down
So far, it's showing no views or anything on the last two chapters. Is everyone alive?
Also, I've been writing Yellin as Yellen lately. Oops!
Edit:Fixed a million spelling.g errors.
Peridot's pov
"Amethyst, you are aware of the responsibilities that come with being class president?"
"Yeah, but whatever. Can't be too hard." I sent a worried glance to Pearl.
"Um, Amethyst, are you really doing this just because Yellin said you couldn't?" Amethyst burped.
"That's the plan." I sighed. Pearl stood up, dusting her skirt up.
"Well, I personally feel that first thing in the morning both of you should drop by Headmistress Diamond's office to drop out. Oh! You both can drop out now! I believe she's in the kitchen." Amethyst crossed her arms.
"I can't drop out, Pearl. Then Yellin wins."
"Not exactly." Everyone looked over at me.
"What do you mean, Peridot?"
"Um, it's just that... if enough people voted for a write in, somebody who isn't on the ballot... she'll lose." Amethyst shrugged.
"Well, I'm not dropping out." Pearl sighed.
"Opal?" Opal looked down.
"I'd love to drop out. I have absolutely no idea how to be a president, it wouldn't be good to have all of Alexandrite or Rainbow's supporters hating me... but I can't drop out, Pearl. If I drop out, Rainbow will use it as an excuse to attack me." Pearl fell back onto my bed, defeated.
"What do you think, Sugilite?"
"Couldn't be more supportive, baby." Pearl groaned. Downstairs, I could hear the sounds of mother greeting somebody.
"Girls! Lapis and Jasper are here!" I couldn't help but be excited as everyone else recoiled in disgust- well, fear for Pearl.
"Okay, we can talk about this later." Jasper walked past my open door, sneering at us, then walking into Yellin's room. Next, the beautiful blue hair and tan skin of Lapis!
She stepped into my room, wearing a white shirt with bubbled sleeves and blue skinny jeans.
"Peridot." She narrowed her eyes at me. I gulped.
"Y-yes?"
"Why were you at the hospital? You had no right coming in to visit me." From behind me, I heard Pearl whisper a small, 'oh no'.
"No right? No right? You clod! Has it ever occured to you that maybe I was in there because I care about you?" Lapis narrowed her eyes again.
"Why would you possibly care about me?" I groaned
"Maybe because we've grown up together! I've known you my whole life, it's you who chose to alienate yourself! Or maybe, what the hell, because I'm freaking in love with you!" Lapis stepped back, shocked for a moment, before stepping foreward in anger.
"Love? You'd lie as far as to say you love me?" I growled, curling my hands into fists.
"Why don't you believe a word I say? Do you just spend your time trying to come up with reasons to hate me? I've done nothing bad to you!" Lapis growled.
"You can't possibly be telling the truth!" Pearl stepped in between us, something I never expected to see.
"Lapis, Peridot's telling the truth. I don't know you very well, but I do know Peridot! The first time we hung out, I realized she was in love with you. If I hadn't recognized the feeling of an unrequited love, she never would have become my best friend." Lapis looked at Pearl.
"Why are you of all people friends with her? After what Jasper did? She's friends with Jasper!"
"You clod! I hate Jasper! I've always hated her! I haven't spoken to her since the start of school! I only did her homework so she wouldn't break my glasses anymore!" Lapis stepped back.
"I can't believe any of you." She growled. From my bed, Amethyst piped up.
"Hey man, I was there when Jazzy choked you. I was the chick being choked next to you. Hi. But I think you're just trying as hard as possible to not like Peridizzle. She's cool, she saved my life at a party." Lapis's eyes went wide, and she looked like a fearful rabbit, caught between staring at Pearl, Amethyst, and me.
"Guys, can we calm down?" Opal asked. "It's been a long, hard week for all of us."
"It hasn't been hard for me." Amethyst said.
"Yeah, this week was no different than any other week we've had." Sugilite agreed.
"It was long and hard!" Opal yelled.
"That's what she said." Amethyst snickered. Opal sighed.
Please let someone else arrive! I silently begged.
"Sardonyx has arrived!" I take it back.
Random fact of the day:Usually a lot of the big surprising stuff isn't supposed to happen. For example:Lapis was never supposed to go to the hospital. Actually, she wasn't even supposed to be there. That entire seen was only supposed to serve as a means for Amethyst and Sugilite to attend the dinner party.
