Sapphire Pov

I walk smiling through the halls. People turn heads as I walk past them, turning to ask everyone who I am.

"Oh, her? That's Sapphire. She's perfect."

Perfect.

I chew on a long strand of my hair, dyed a light blue.

I'm not perfect. My mother often tries to set me up with every guy, but I blow them all off.  For one reason only.

"Hey, Sapphire! " A guy called as started taking books out of my locker.

"Hi, Red!" I greeted cheerfully.

"So, I was wondering if you... would maybe like to meet up for some milkshakes later?" He asked hopefully. My smile faded.

"Gosh, I'm awfully sorry Red, but I have to meet up with some family later. Maybe some other time though?" He frowned and walked back over to his locker, where one of his sister's playfully slapped him.

"Hey." I heard behind me. My smile reappeared.

"Ruby!" I spun around quickly and Ruby picked me up.

"C'mon, let's go!" She carried me outside to a small clearing in the woods. "Final stop." She said goofily.

I giggled, and stepped down, kissing her cheek.

"Ruby, it's been forever! It's so hard at home. Mom keeps asking me to go out with a guy!" My mother would never a prove of my... "life choices"

"Aww, don't worry Laughy Sapphy!" Ruby comforted, parting my bangs.

"Ruby!" I said playfully. I was in a bad accident when I was little, so I only have one eye.

"Aww, what, are you worried somebody might find us?" Ruby asked.

"Yes, actually. " I got out of her arms, giggling. "What classes do we have together? " I asked.

"What makes you think I know?" Ruby said, trying to fake some attitude or something. I grinned.

"I know you stole my schedule." Ruby giggled.

"Fine. I'll see you in art class." I pecked her cheek and we both walked back to the school.
