Thirty Four- House Guest
Opal's pov
"So, Amethyst, is there a... reason you're here?" Mom asked, watching Amethyst devour the mashed potatoes I'd made. Amethyst burped.
"Naw, I'm fine." She wiped her mouth on her arm and continued eating.
"Ugh." Pearl pushed her plate, which she had barely touched, foreward. "I think I'm done." She wiped her mouth with her napkin.
"Pearl, eat your dinner." Mom said sternly.
"Didn't that tank top used to Sugilite?" I asked, looking at the slightly ripped white top.
"Probably." Amethyst buried again.
"Mom, can I talk to you?" I asked, interrupting her argument with Pearl regarding her food intake.
"Sure." Mom and I walked into the living room. "What's up?"
"Mom, I'm worried about Amethyst." I said in a hushed voice.
"You're right. She's eating way too fast."
"No, in general. Listen," I glanced into the kitchen, where Pearl was clearly disgusted by Amethyst, to make sure no one was listening. "Sugilite told me not to tell anyone, but their dad? All he does is drink. And, Sugilite said he hits Amethyst. Hard." Mom gasped.
"Opal, why didn't you tell me?" She asked, concerned.
"Because Sugilite doesn't want anyone to tell child services. She's trying to wait it out until she turns eighteen so she can move out and take Amethyst with her." Mom went to go back into the kitchen, but I moved to block her. "Mom. Please don't tell anyone."
"I'm not." She walked back I.to the kitchen and helped Amethyst up out of the chair, giving her the biggest hug imaginable.
"What's she doing?" Pearl asked in a whisper as I drew near.
"Amethyst sweetheart, you can stay here as long as you need." Mom said finally, making Amethyst cry.
Sugilite's pov
"Ugh, finally!" I sighed, walking to my car after a long day at work.
"I wonder if Amethyst wants KFC?" I turned on my phone to call and check, and saw that I had a message from the home phone.
"Ames?" I went to listen to the message, but the phone died. "Damn it!" I slid into the driver's seat. "There better be no stop lights 'caus Sugi's on a mission!" I put the pedal to the metal and drove home fast as I could.
"Amethyst?" I yelled, runnin in the door.
"Where we're you?" My dad asked.
"At work, like your sorry ass should've been!" I said saltily.
"Don't talk to me like that, I'm your father."
"Then act like it. Where's Amethyst?"
"That little slut? She left earlier."
"Don't call her that! You never call a woman a slut, even if she is! Just shut up!" I ran to my room and plugged in my phone. After about ten minutes it finally had enough charge to check my voicemail.
"Hey Sugi, it's Ames. Don't worry about where I am, it's somewhere safe. I love you, bye."
"Shitshitshit..." I muttered, freaking out. "Where would Amethyst go, where would Amethyst go... where would I go?" I asked. Ames was basically mini Sugi!
"Opal!" I grabbed my phone and dialed my bestie's number.
"Sugilite? I was wondering when you'd call."
"So she's there?"
"Yeah." I breathed a sigh of relief. "What's that? Alright. My mom said to pack a bag and come here."
"Oh no. Opal, I couldn't-"
"She's insists. Just get over here." I smiled.
Half an hour later I was home. My real home with my real family. It great to sit with my girlfriend and our sister's and watch Disney movies.
"I've got popcorn, girls!"
"Thanks mom!" Opal said.
"Yeah, thanks ma." Opal's mom almost started crying, hugging me.
"Oh, what did I do to deserve girls like you four?"
(A/N) Wooh! That's another chapter from the same day! I can't wait to do stuff about the election, and especially more news casts with Rita Skeeter-IMPERIAL TOPAZ! Phew, good save.
Random fact of the day: This one I had a hard time figuring out, but it really explains a lot. Amethyst and Sugilite's mother pays for their school tuition. She also bought Sugi's car, and her phone. Her child support buys their father's booze and pays the electricity bill but everything else is up to Sugilite.
