Sixty Three-Holidays And Happenings(p1)

(A/N) Don't worry, I'm only dead on the inside

Pearl's pov

"Oh Peridot, it looks amazing!" We gazed upon the Christmas tree we'd spent the entire day decorating.

"Dude, this tree is Pearl's house!"

"Amethyst I think you're exaggeratin-"

"I'll measure!" Peridot made her way up the curved railing of the staircase until she had reached the second floor. "Hmm..."

"What's up Peridactyl?" Amethyst asked, creating a megaphone with her hands.

"It's twenty five feet!" Peridot called.

"Ha! I was right!" Amethyst snickered.

"Wait!" Peridot exclaimed. She ran down several steps, tripped and fell face first, and quickly recovered, joining us at the bottom. "Ahem."

"Your glasses are broken."

"That's not important. Anyhow, Amethyst, comparing my family's Christmas Tree to the size of Pearl's house is unfair, seeing as my house has significantly higher ceilings, fifteen foot ceilings on the ground floor, ten foot ceilings on the second floor, and this foyer in particular, thirty foot ceilings." Amethyst was clearly bored and impatient.

"Please, go on." She sighed.

"Of course! Pearl's home consists of two six foot floors, plus the crawlspace attic, that makes-"

"Hold up. Your house had a crawlspace? And you only told Peridot?"

"Uhh... The topic never came up in conversation..." I chuckled nervously.

"Uhh... The house is taller." Peridot concluded.

"Ugh, you guys still don't have the tree finished?" Yelled called from the top of the staircase.

"Y'know you could've helped!" Peridot yelled. It was true, we hadn't finished. We'd placed all of the bulbs and lights on the tree, the only things left were the sentimental ornaments and the Star for the top of the tree.

"You had our mom's. And the other two. You should be done. Yellen, not once looking up from her phone, descended the staircase. "You didn't put up my ballet shoes, did you?" From the box full of miscellaneous tree ornaments, Peridot retrieved an ornament designed to look like a pair of yellow ballet shoes, nearly identical to an ornament I owned.

"Nope."

"Great." Yellen finally placed her phone in the pocket of her jeans and took the ornament from Peridot's hands. She traveled halfway up the stairs before hanging it proudly among the gold and silver bulbs that adorned the tree.

Peridot, Amethyst, and I joined her, hanging ornaments that read the dates of significant events, photographs of young Peridot and Yellen, and the girls' interests.

I had just finished hanging the last ornament, a video game controller for Peridot's favorite console, when Opal entered from the kitchen.

"C'mon guys, the cookies are almost done. And Grandma's on video chat." She smiled and left us alone. I smiled fondly at the thought of a call from my grandmother. Peridot, Amethyst, and I quickly entered the kitchen.

"There's the rest of my girls!" My grandmother chuckled.

"Peridot could you please get me my tablet? I believe I left it in my bedroom." Headmistress Diamond requested. Peridot nodded.

"I'll go too." I offered.

"Ooh take me too!  I want to talk to Pearl!" Chuckling, I picked up my mother's laptop and followed Peridot.

"It's amazing to speak to you, Grandma," I said.

"Pearl nobody cares about how amazing I am, it's you two I care about! How've things been going?" Peridot and I shared a nervous glance. "Oh come on! Ever since I first saw you two together I knew there was something there! So how is it?" I smiled at Peridot, lost for words.

"It's wonderful, Grandma. And tomorrow night it will be even better."

(A/N) I have a headache and writing this only made it worse.

Happy Christmas eve-eve, or... Whatever you celebrate(Hanukkah? Kwanzaa? Something else?).

Random fact of the day: Remember in the beginning when Peridot said Lapis worked hard to get into Crystal Prep? Yeah fam she super got in because of her mom...
