Amethyst pov

"If I have to go to one more party, I'm gonna drop dead!" I collapsed down onto Pearl's bed.

"Amethyst, it's not a party we're going to." Pearl said, hopping around on one foot trying to pull on her black tights.

"Aren't we going to Peri's party though?"

"You heard Peridot on Christmas eve, she hates parties." She finally tugged the tights on under her white dress. "We're going my father's house." I shuddered and sat up.

"Okay, you're one of the last people who'd wanna see their Dad. Why?"

"He and his wife are going out tonight. We're simply enjoying the evening with just us girls."

"Ugh, are Ruby and Sapphire gonna be part of our group now?"

"Excuse me?"

"You know, our group. You 'n Peri 'n I. I feel like any changes in the group would mess it up." Pearl bit her lip.

"Amethyst, I... Peridot, and I..." She shook her head. "Nevermind. It's not important."

"Pearl... Are you okay?" Pearl nodded.

"Yes. Why don't we go down to, the car?" she stepped into her white flats and pulled on her navy blue coat.  "Peridot's probably waiting for us."

Pearl's mom took us to pick up Peridot while Opal and Sugilite went to pick up their friend Alex.
"Pearl!"  Peridot greeted, hugging Pearl.

"Hey Peri."

"Hello Amethyst." Peridot smiled,  climbing in next to Pearl. I noticed how closely the two were sitting.

"Um, are you guys okay?" They both blushed and looked down.  "What is it? It's not like you guys are secretly dating or anything!"

Opal's pov

"Where are Pearl and the others? They should be here by now!" I said, worrying.

"I'm sure they're just running a tad late." The doorbell rang, and Sardonyx placed her tray of fajitas down on the coffee table. "Ah, that must be them." She opened the door, and her joy us greeting was drowned out by shouting.

"I can't believe you guys have been seeing eachother behind my back!" Amethyst yelled.

"This is exactly why we didn't tell you Amethyst!" Peridot shouted. The three came into the house screaming at each other like the world was going to end.

"Woah Woah Woah!" Can we just enjoy one night without people screaming at eachother?" I pleaded.

"Fine. But I'm sitting as far away from those two as possible!" Amethyst yelled, sitting down.

Social interaction throughout the night was tedious, and that's putting it simply. Amethyst still refused to speak to Ruby or Sapphire, and of course talking to the others was out of the question. From what I picked up from Amethyst's mutters, Pearl and Peridot were secretly going out. I couldn't complain, though, because when the ball dropped I was just too excited to watch the horrible year 2016 die.
