Sixty One-Give Some Thanks(p2)

Pearl's pov

It was a picturesque Thanksgiving. My Grandmother's  dining room  table set with plates of vegetables, casserole, mashed potatoes, and finally, the freshly cooked turkey. Opal and I helped set the table for eight while Peridot stuck a thermometer in each dish to ensure it was cooked to perfection.

Peridot. I was still unsure as to whether or not I had dreamt the previous night's escapades. Peridot had treated me with caution the entire day, flinching if she so much as touched me.

"That's every dish. I'll go sanitize the thermometer." I followed her into the kitchen, which thankfully was empty.

"Peridot?"

"Oh! Pearl. I hadn't noticed you followed me." I looked at Peridot.
"About last night..." Peridot looked down.

"I understand. I'll admit, I thought I was crazy to ask to, but-"

"No! That's not what I meant at all!" I grabbed Peridot's hands. "I meant what I said. I would love to date you. But I've never dated anyone before... I wouldn't even know where to start."

"Th-that's okay!" Peridot stammered. "I don't know too! I mean, either. I'm- irrational. I think I've contracted an illness-"  She reached out a hand to her forehead, but I held it down.

"You're fine, Peridot. Let's just enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner." I led her back to the dining room and we joined the others.

"There those two lovebirds are." My grandmother joked, gaining a chuckle. However, she gave me a knowing wink, and I realized exactly what I was thankful for-everyone at that table.

(A/N) What'd you guys do to celebrate today? We tried to watch the parade, but it wouldn't show... You know, the actual parade.

Random fact of the day : Opal decided to be a vegetarian...  For two days. Hey, I only lasted for six hours when I went vegetarian...
