Peridot's pov

Pearl, Yellen and I has taken refuge in a closet in what I assumed to be a guest room when we heard the noise.

"Gooooood evening everybody! This is the lovely Sardonyx, speaking to you live over the soon to be disabled loud speaker system. How are the fifteen of you? Oops! Did I say fifteen? Because I meant twelve." Pearl gasped.

"Did she just say-"

"That's right folks, I've taken Lapis, Jasper, and Mangano. Ciao!" The loudspeaker fizzled before being cut completely.

"This is completely illogical! What possible use could she have for this?" I asked.

"She's going to release everyone's biggest secret. She may seem cool, but in the end she's just another girl looking for popularity." Yellen said, staring at the ground.

"What are you talking about?" I demanded.

"That's how it works. You've seem who she invited. Lots of popular girls and girls who can get her popular. That's how things work, you threaten to release a secret on exchange for popularity, and if they don't comply you release it to make yourself cooler than them."

"But some of these girls aren't even popular. And Sardonyx hangs out with Opal, she's fairly popular." Pearl interjected.

"Yeah, but Opal's not here for the threats. Opal's here because Rainbow Quartz, who obviously isn't here, would kill for her secrets. Let's face it. Sardonyx invited class presidents who can give her political sway, she invited members of the news team to get her featured more often," She sighed and sank to her knees. "People value their secrets. And will do anything for you to keep them secret."

"How do you know this?"

"It's a small price to pay, Peridot!" She snapped. We were silent for a moment, until suddenly Pearl whispered,

"I hear footsteps..." The footsteps hot closer.

"There's a vent in the back that leads straight through! You guys go, I'll stay here!" Yellen hissed, shoving us through. Once on the other side, Pearl and I held out breaths as we heard Sardonyx yank open the door and pull Yellen away.

8:00 pm

Opal's pov

Minutes passed. Silent, terrifying moments, where Sardonyx's location was unknown. Several times she passed the bathroom door, and I, hiding I'm the shower, instinctively covered Sugilite's mouth at the same time she covered mine. Alex simply stood there, silent.

Sardonyx started hitting things very loudly. After a minute Amethyst screamed.

"Where the hell did she get a hammer?" Heavy footsteps raced all around the floor.

"Downstairs!" Ruby yelled, shortly followed by the sounds of three people falling down the stairs.

After that, I heard nothing. Nothing except for my own heart beat.
