Sixty Four-Holidays And Happenings(p2)
Peridot's pov
"Ho Ho Hey Peri!" Amethyst greeted, wandering in my general direction. The Christmas party had begun a few hours before, but Amethyst and Pearl had arrived late.
"Hello, Peridot." Pearl smiled. She wore a cream sweater with an argyle line across the breast paired with a green skirt and her usual light blue flats. Amethyst sported a purple sweater which fell off the shoulder, as well as black yoga pants and white boots.
"Good evening."
"Ho Ho how ya doin?" Pearl sighed.
"Amethyst, thats really unnecessary!" I rolled my eyes.
"To answer your question-and humor you- I feel like committing Ho Ho homicide." Pearl sighed contently, and bent down to straighten my red bow tie.
"You should try to be a little more positive. After all, it is Christmas Eve." She stood back up.
"I know. But I've always disliked Christmas Eve because they were here." I gestured broadly at the room, filled with various family members and families of teachers.
"It's not too bad. At least you get to open your presents tomorrow. Speaking of which," Pearl held out a small box tied delicately with a bow. "It's not an actual bow, it's merely a box designed to look as if I spent effort wrapping it."
"Wow, thanks!" I said quietly. I opened the box to find, wrapped in tissue paper, a delicate glass snowflake ornament. "It's beautiful..." I breathed. I looked up. Amethyst had left, presumably to rummage through the hors devours. Pearl stood, blushing.
"When I went Christmas shopping and I saw it, I immediately thought of you." We stood silent for a moment.
"Oh, I got you something too!" I explained. Turning around and reaching under the tree, a retrieved the small gift bag that held Pearl's gift. "Unfortunately, I couldn't be bothered to wrap it, so I put it in a bag!" I held it out to Pearl eagerly.
Pearl accepted the gift, and from the bag revealed...
"Oh Peridot, you shouldn't have!" She held the necklace, a heart-shaped pearl pendant on a silver chain, in her hand.
"I-it's nothing. I saw it, and... It was pearl, and that reminded me of you, because of the name!" Pearl grinned.
"I love it! Will you help me put it on?" She handed me the necklace and bent down, allowing me to reach her neck to clasp the necklace.
"There." She stood.
"I love it. Thank you, Peridot!"
"Thank you for the ornament!" I hung it on the tree. "It's perfect."
I smiled at her. After a moment, I realized that she was looking up and blushing. I followed her gaze, and consequently blushed as well.
"That's..."
"Cliché."
"I was going to say convenient..." Pearl blushed.
"Um... Ahem. To uphold, uh... Tradition and all, uh..." Pearl chuckled. She bent down and slowly kissed me on the lips.
"Merry Christmas, Peridot."
(A/N) And cue mistletoe trope, as well as Kayleigh and Girlneedsbooks screaming about how I'm making them ship Pearlidot.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah! Happy... Other holidays? Tell me in the comments!
